Something Wicked: A Supernatural RPG
Something Wicked is a brand new Supernatural RPG. The game starts after Dean and Sam dispatch the Seven Deadly Sins (after Season 3, Episode 1). Several canons are open - if you're interested, please inquire. You do not have to have seen the whole series to be a part of the game, we pick up after Season 3, Episode 1.?

Endure & Survive [groups.io] [18+] [LGBTQ+ friendly] [postapoc]
Endure & Survive takes place in the world of The Last of Us. Set five years before the events of the first video game and the HBO show, our game follows a settlement of survivors living on Martha's Vineyard, MA. While we've stuck close to canon, a few liberties have been taken to blend elements of the show/games with our setting. Come join us in fighting off the infected, building our community, and doing our best to avoid drawing FEDRA's attention.?
This is a 21+ game and we're looking for some experienced writers to tell the story of the Oak Bluffs settlement. We're a writing based, play-by-post RP game that utilizes Groups.io for the writing portion of the game and Discord for all OOC communication. We also write in third person past tense.?
A play-by-post game is basically turn-based collaborative storytelling - similar to improv - with a strong focus on collaboration. We're looking for players who are eager to work with others to dig into interpersonal plots, as well as the overarching group plots.?
We do have some things that we look for in potential members, aside from simply a willingness to collaborate and work together.?
-
This is an adult game that deals with adult themes and no players under 21 will be allowed.?
-
We are an LGBTQ+ friendly, anti-sexist, anti-bigot game, without reservation. Characters may have personal opinions contrary to this in game, but we do not accept bigotry among our players.
-
Being a part of the game is a commitment to regular activity and we expect at least one post a week for every active character. With communication, exceptions can be made when needed.?
-
There is a two character per player limit in this game. We expect players of multiple characters to be able to dig into, and keep up with, each of their characters equally.
-
Your character must be a resident of the Oak Bluffs settlement on Martha's Vineyard. How long they've been there and what happened to them prior to arriving is up to you. We do not currently have openings for FEDRA or other factions at this time.?
-
Players with game or show knowledge are preferred, but this is not a hard rule as long as you're willing to learn the lore.
-
No copycat characters are allowed. You may borrow inspiration from existing characters out in the world or in other media, but at the end of the day, your character must be uniquely yours. This goes for other player characters in-game as well - please read each bio thoroughly before submitting your character to make sure they're not too similar to an existing character.?
-
We'll need you to use Discord. This is where we do all of our plotting, chatting, most of our notifications or announcements, etc. If you are unfamiliar with Discord, we can help you get started.?
As stated above though, the most important thing that we look for is a willingness to work with others. Collaboration is what keeps a PBEM game fun and running smoothly.?
If this sounds like a game you'd be interested in, please take a look at our website and fill out the application form, both linked below. This is not a first come, first serve situation and more consideration will be given to applicants who have clearly read the website.?
We'll keep the application open for one week from posting it and, after that, will reach out to everyone who has applied to let you know if you've been chosen or not. Please make sure you've given us a reliable way to contact you. We reach out via email first and then if we don't get an answer, we'll reach out through Discord. If we can't get in touch with you, then we'll move on to other applicants.

For me, this was very much a case of ¡°not what is?said, but how it is said.¡± And we can wrap the excuses in claims of blunt speech, or whatever else, but the way you say things matters.?
ALL?of my current games have open wikis?that people can view without joining. We do that on purpose for the reasons that have been stated.?It was an oversight that once this wiki was built, the settings did not get changed before the advertisement went out.?
If the initial response had been a?request?to make the wiki viewable,?I¡¯d have said thanks, changed the settings,?and moved on.
That wasn¡¯t what the initial response did. The initial response targeted my game to address a general?problem they have with other RPG advertisements, and it was done in a way that buried the original advertisement in favor of calling out a non-issue that was fixed in seconds.
And then the?original responder goes on to imply I have shut down games due to not generating players because I keep my wikis closed. Neither of which is true.
We can hide behind?excuses of?being blunt or anything else, but at the end of the day, the choice was made to address a larger issue using?my specific game as the reason in a very?rude way.?
The wiki is now open, by the way. Just like all of my others.?

And it looks like less than an ideal way to sign up to even be able to look at said information. This isn't the first game I have seen do this, either. As someone that might have an interest in a game, and someone that has been active for 20 years, a link to nothing is quite off-putting. I'd like to actually be able to see information other than just the advert spiel. Take a look at character bios and what might be wanted/needed to make one myself. See if anyone I might want to use has already been claimed as the avatar/face/whatever term you like. See if you have specific information about locations that will be used in the game, rules, FAQ etc. Anything to get a feel for the game or the other people I might be joining. Having something available to see without the need to join has also in the past let me see when a game that seemed cool for a shiny advert actually wouldn't work for me because of time commitments or game play style which are also important.
Just some thoughts.

Snark aside, just because something is critical, doesn't make it rude. I did not in any way insult you or the game. I pointed out an issue that I noticed because this is the most recent example of it. And actually it is something I have stated before within this group and I do not understand it now any more than I did before. Why have a link that you can't do anything with unless you join (but not tell people up front or give any other information). As a neurodivergant person I tend to preface statements with how I imagine someone might react to my, well, often bluntness. It's my concession to the notion that everything has to be couched in the fluffiest of language to not offend someone when it would be so much easier just to say hey, this could use some work. Should I do it? Probably not, I admit it, because it doesn't always help. But sometimes it does.
The very fact that you don't seem to want to give information about your games as if you are guarding a secret is why I figured you would not take constructive criticism and your reaction to it proved that correct. As I stated, I was offering suggestions. Everything I mentioned was meant to help because honestly NOLA is amazing and setting a game there is cool - I actually just got back from a vacation so when the post came up I thought "could be neat." If I hadn't been marginally interested I would have passed by most likely.
Successful groups in my experience provide information to prospective players. They also don't go out of their way to decry people who offer feedback.?Also, when you post on a public forum you chance people saying things in said public forum. And again, given your reaction, I do not believe you would have taken my comments much better had I sent them privately. I also said it here because this group has in the past been a place where people discussed games in many aspects (running them, platforms, places to advertise etc). And if you didn't take my suggestions to heart perhaps another person might.?
I checked before posting my initial reply and two games you advertised in this group the past few years were the exact same as this - an advert/pitch (well written I will say, you do seem like a talented writer from that bit - pitches are difficult so please know I think you have genuine talent), and then the link with no information. However, it seems you've possibly deleted both since then since the links are dead. It did make me wonder if they were closed because not enough people joined - which seemed like something that could be corrected by letting more people know what they might be getting into. You say I could have asked to join, and I will reiterate - having some basic information available without joining is more welcoming. People don't want to expend a lot of energy to just get basic information, they also often don't want to be a "bother" to owners/mods by asking. I say this because of my experience as a moderator, even when I or my co-mods have said we're good with questions we often get emails that say "they don't want to bother us." I have been interested in some games on here lately that I was able to look at and see that "oh I don't have the time to dedicated because they need at least a post a week" or "that's a lot of cool lore but I am not able to read it all now" and I didn't have to join to learn that, but I could bookmark the sites for later in case circumstances changed.
Another game posted here had a link that you needed to join to see more information but the big thing was the mod posting it said that up front (and gave a reason why) and offered more than just the sales pitch within their post. They stated it was a Slice of Life rpg, that they did events, and welcomed people's ideas and input. With your game I have no idea what type of game it even is, just that it has an awesome setting and a cool advert/pitch. Being up front with that would be helpful to future players. I only went back a little ways so I am sorry I don't have an itemized list for you of every game I found the lack of information on concerning.?
You can choose to take or leave anything I said. And I will now know to simply not read any adverts you post because you are clearly looking for a different type of player. Unless you post under multiple names I guess, then I wouldn't be able to avoid them.
I wish you luck in future endeavors. And no, that isn't snark. Whatever type of game you have I hope you find fun with it.

Well, I¡¯m sure this won¡¯t be appreciated either.
You could request access to see the information you say you¡¯re interested in. Or ask that the link be made public. Or sent?this privately.?
All of which, again,?would have provided you with the information about the game.?
There were options here that didn¡¯t involve you using one game and one?set of people to call out an issue that you claim to have with many different RPG¡¯s over the years.?
This was?rude and uncalled for, and I think the way you opened your response shows you know?that.?

So, I'm not sure this will be appreciated, but, I don't really understand why you have a link to the wiki for the game when there is no information available.

Cairie, Sorry for the delay. So, here are the creation rules for my game: Ability Scores: 6+1d12, six times, arrange as desired. Max Hit points at first level 40 starting gold pieces to buy equipment. After you finish buying equipment, you can only keep up to 5 copper pieces for spending money. The economy is in a very bad shape throughout the realms due to numerous wars in the past five years. 1 d100 roll. (You will probably want to send this to me first as it influences your character.) Mages get 4 spells to start, Read Magic, Detect Magic, and 2 of your choice. Ask about any kits you wish to play as there are restrictions. You need to have a background, it doesn¡¯t need to be a book as characters are just coming of age, but enough to give a reason why your character is considering adventuring. Part of your background will need to center around living in or around a small keep and the lands it protects. It is called the Keep of the Vale. We have an elf f/m/t, a dwarf cleric, a dwarf thief, a dwarf fighter and a couple others in the mists of creation. :) Rich On Monday, May 15, 2023 at 08:42:25 AM EDT, Cairie van der Vyver < cairie.vandervyver@...> wrote: Good afternoon I¡¯m intersted.
