I presume by doc you¡¯re referring to a Word document? ?
Do you simply need to post formatted text from a doc (highlight/copy/paste) or do it need to be more involved than that?

Re: Eudora blocking groups.io ?

Thanks for that Duane

I had read the previous posts you mention but none mentioned Eudora, which I thought was the emailer

The email address was a @aapt.net.au one which again gave no indication

Now I know I can advise accordingly

The [email protected]?address should be used only for those issues that cannot be resolved using existing web functions (difficulty with payments, help transferring a group to a subgroup, etc). Posts that don't comply with this (or from owners of unpaid, Basic groups) are often ignored.

For general assistance with the web/email/app interfaces, post either here in GMF or in Group_Help.

That seems to happen from time to time.? I don't know why an auto-reply isn't sent sometimes unless it ignores email from someone that doesn't have a paid group.? Unless it's a serious problem, support only replies to paid group owners.? You can often get help with problems using this group or the Group_Help group.? I've noticed that support sometimes ignores problems that can be resolved here.

Mark doesn't appear to be on vacation, based on his replies on the beta group.

Is Groups.io Support On Vacation

Is Groups.io on vacation?

In the past when I was having a particular problem with my group, I would write to support and receive shortly after a reply they received my email. Last week I sent a request about a problem a member was having I could not solve but did not receive a confirmation my email was received, so two days ago I sent another request to this problem with more information but still no confirmation. A long time ago I experienced this situation and Mark was on vacation, so I am wondering if Mark is on vacation again.

You can attach a doc. By email, do it as you usually do. On the group homepage, use the paperclip icon.?

But first you must make sure that your group is set up to allow attachments.
/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/message-formatting-settings
In Admin, Settings, Message Formatting. Use dropdown menu to change.

And how it appears in your email depends on your own subscription. See?
/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/controlling-your-email-subscription-preferences/advanced-preferences

If this isn't the answer, please give us more detail.

Cheers,

Frances

? Frances, I believe if the member was not logged in to their account, they would not be able to see the photos at all since mine is a restricted group. This member is able to see the photos, but she has to go through the succession of "all groups, to specific group, to album, and then the particular photo". That is bizarre as the hot link should have taken her directly to the photo.

Re: apparent blacklisting iiNet

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I have been chasing this since 25th January, many phone calls and many emails, with no result.
However, as of 7 hours ago, some mail has been trickling in from all 4 .io groups that I belong to, maybe they have reprogrammed their server which was blocking the emails... keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: ((beta)) Site updates #changelog

I have just stumbled into an effect of this change:

On Sat, 04 Apr 2020 04:58:15 +0100, Mark Fletcher <[email protected]> wrote:

Changes to the site this week:

  • <snip>
  • CHANGE: For messages sent to the +owner address, delete any existing To header and replace it with [email protected], to make it more clear where the message was sent.
Contrary to the text above, IMHO, this obscures who the message as sent to!

I answered a message to a +owner address and CC'd the +owner address so everyone would know I had responded. However, the copy to the +owner address gave no clue that I had actually included the original poster in the To header.

This can't be right surely? Can anyone offer a good reason not to request the reversal of the change?

Malcolm.

No.? Attached files are separate from the files section.? Attachments are tangentially related to photos within the emailed photos album, but photos and attached photos are also separate sections.

Question about Deleting Attachments

If I delete a file that's attached to a message, and the file is also saved in the files section of my group, will it also be deleted from the files?
I don't want to inadvertently delete files that are necessary, but I also don't need to save duplicates in two different places.
Thanks!

Re: MAC questions

I have just posted a message to one of my groups with a picture, when I double-click on the pic, it brings it up in Preview. If you right-click or control-click you get a menu one of which is ¡°Open with¡± there a number of options in there, one of which shoud suffice??

It would be useful to see the message ¡ so I can test what you are trying to do.

Annick, you replied that files are PDFs and these should open on a Mac computer and iPad. I am reposting your member's full query in hopes that someone else can help.?I wonder about the printing issue.

About the last question - being brought to a list of groups when the member clicks on a link in a message - I think it is because your member is not logged into and / or deletes her browser cookies if not using a password.

Wouldn't the member be brought to the login screen if that were the case? That's what happens to me if I click on a link when not logged in.
