Re: Enter Your Two-Factor Authentication Code

Thanks to all who replied.
I was finally able to figure out what happened. She set up the 2FA using her old phone, which she no longer has and doesn't have the codes. I removed her membership from the group and added her under a new email. I don't believe that she did this on purpose and wasn't real certain of the details. She doesn't care about having an unused groups.io identity floating around. I was not aware of the 2FA so tried it with my backup ID for one of my groups. I couldn't get it so work gave up. It is not clear on how to get this to work or the possible negatives for those not aware of what they may be doing. Again, Thank you Paul, Ohio, USA |
Subgroup
Steve C
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGood evening, Looking for a little assist on creating a Subgroup¡. I included below the already published reference on the matter for reference. Under step 2) "The original group's original address continues to work (is aliased)." Does this mean my Homepage will continue to display my original group¡¯s address versus showing the?¡°main@¡¡¡± once the subgroup is created?? Thanks in advance for clarifying. Steve C Creating a subgroup - the basics You can create a subgroup for your main group if you have a Premium or Enterprise plan, as of January 15, 2020. (Basic groups existing on that date are grandfathered in.) For example: 1) Create avian group (this becomes the subdomain name once a subgroup has been created). Now you have: [email protected] - an ordinary group. 2) Within avian group, create birds subgroup. Now you have: [email protected] - The original group's original address continues to work (is aliased). [email protected] - the original group. [email protected] - the subgroup. (NOTE: There is a delay for access after you create the first subgroup, due to the creation of the new subdomain, in this case .) 3) Go to the settings for main group and change its name (for example, to chickens). (There might also be a delay in being able to access this name because it will need to be propagated through the DNS system.) Now you have: [email protected] - the original group (alias). [email protected] - the original group. [email protected] - the subgroup. |

If you're a Premium group, you can lock the group. But that keeps existing members from posting, and uploading files/photos etc, too. If it isn't already, consider changing your Spam Control setting to Restricted. You can then create an active Pending Subscription notice that says you aren't accepting any new memberships at this time. You'll still have to delete any new subscriptions that land in Pending status, but at least this way they won't be so inclined to reapply. limiting the size of a group
Hi - with this pandemic, we've been getting slammed with people wanting to join our group (because they're bored and at home and don't really understand what it is they're signing up for - and most will probably be gone within a few months!).? Is there a way to temporarily close the group to any more members, short of just ignoring the applications?
Thanks,

Re: help to decipher header
Win,
What does this mean ...Presumably that identifies the inbound server at your email provider. "Your access to this mail system from 66.175.222.12 has been rejectedThis message is your service talking to Groups.io, so in this context "you" is Groups.io and 66.175.222.12 is Groups.io's outbound mail server, aka "the sending MTA" (Mail Transfer Agent). I infer from this that your email service relied at least in part on a third-party blacklist service as part of its algorithm for determining the "reputation" of MTAs trying to deliver messages to you. This comes from the fact that there have been reports showing that Groups.io's outbound server has appeared in such lists. In other words, your email service rejected delivery of that message because they believed it was likely to be undesirable (spam, phishing, etc.). "If you believe that this failure is in error, please contact theRecording your service's response in the Bounce History is Groups.io's "alternate means" of contacting you to let you know that a message intended for you could not be delivered. and what should I do about it?The only thing I think you can do about it is try to convince your email provider that Groups.io's outbound server should be whitelisted as a source of messages that you have subscribed to and that you want to receive all of the messages from Groups.io. Given that it hasn't happened in the last few months it may not be a very pressing issue. They may have corrected their inbound reputation scoring, or whatever source of information they used may have corrected its records. I don't recall if there were reports of Groups.io appearing in blacklists during the December time frame. Re: help to decipher header
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks Shal,I checked and there is nothing in "most recent unsuccessful attempt"..... so perhaps it was a one-off. There are 3 bounces from back in late December, with this reason... "asav.iinet.net.au: 554 icp-osb-irony-in6.iinet.net.au Your access to this mail system from 66.175.222.12 has been rejected due to the sending MTA's poor reputation. Re: Comcast issue
Annick,
One of my group members, who is on Comcast, is having problems withHave a look in your group's Activity log to see if there are any entries that correspond to her attempts. If so they may provide an answer. The other likelihood is that she's using the wrong address for your group. One way to check this is to have her CC your personal email address on her next attempt. Then you can carefully check the address she used for the group. The other thing she should do is watch for "mailer daemon" messages - rejection notices - that Comcast should place in her Inbox whenever an addressee (such as Groups.io) rejects a message. It's possible that they might place the rejection notice in her Spam folder, so look there too. Those notices will have a three-digit response code (in the 500's) and a short text description of why the message was rejected. When she has contacted Comcast about it, they tell her that IO mustGroups.io doesn't regard message posts as spam, that's the group moderator's job. But it might reject her messages for other reasons and if that's the case she should receive a notice back from comcast that shows the response Groups.io gave when rejecting the message. Re: #subgroups Moderator
#subgroups
Carla,
I'm Owner of a Group and created a Sub-Group. How do I make a MemberFirst that person needs to be a member of the subgroup. Which is something you can achieve by multiple means. Once that's the case, go to the Members list in the subgroup's pages. There you can change that subgroup member's Role to Moderator. In other words, it works just as it does in the primary group, but from within the subgroup's pages. Comcast issue
One of my group members, who is on Comcast, is having problems with her email messages to our group not being delivered to our group. They show in her "sent" folder, but never show up to the group. However her emails to the other IO groups she belongs to go through just fine to the groups. This is something that has just recently started to happen to her. When she has contacted Comcast about it, they tell her that IO must be regarding the emails as spam and rejecting them.
? ?Are any of the rest of you experiencing anything like this? I have advised the member to send her messages from the group web page instead, but it's not her preferred method. Annick |
