I also suggest turning off the polls option, if you can. They are rarely used and I found them annoying and meaningless, since so few replied to them. Just my 2 cents.

I could not see them anyway, because I joined the group with an email addy, not by getting a yahoo groups account, so my vote is to let them remain and die with yahoo.

Their tech support can be accomplished electronically.

I am not computer expert but have had to use them from late 60's for fourier transform NMR. I was a research chemist (retired now for 27 years). We were encouraged to learn Fortran. which i never did. Few years later at the Unjv where I was a professor took week course in machine language.I learned Fortran IV one summer during medical school (1967). Did some trivially simple programming using a paper-tape feed for a Varian computer when spending a summer at NASA (1969). Got a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model III (1979). |

Thanks, Dave. You got me headed in a new direction. Your suggestion didn't work however I noted that Outlooks "To:" line is always "[email protected]".
My new working rule is "Any recipient" contains "[email protected]". Additionally, I changed my macsupportcentral preference to "Daily Journal". That, more than anything, will set things to how they were. Cheers |

Hi, Even though I am not symptomatic with John`s maladies, I would also prefer a daily digest, rather than numerous messages from those techno wizards of whom I will always hold in high esteem, knowing I will never qualify. Btw, I am usually hesitant to upgrade my MacBook Air to the latest operating systems, in this case "Catalina," without waiting a few months in case a few bugs pop up. Is this somewhat prudent or unnecessary? Rick, aka ballyrick.

Have you updated to Catalina? Check on Disk Utilities, if you have, for changes.

Creating an Outlook Rule for Macsupportcentral
#Mail
Hi, everyone.
I'm struggling with creating a rule that moves messages from this group into a MacSupport folder I created in Outlook. i have a long list of working rules but this group brings a challenge for Outlook. Messages from the group arrive with two addresses: one from the poster and one from Sent by [email protected]. Outlook is not seeing the second address so it fails. Messages from users can have two forms: just the author's name, the author's name plus "via Groups,io". I can make a working rule for the second form using "group.io" Messages with just the author's name will require using that name since Outlook isn't seeing the Sent by address. Needless to say, creating a rule for every subscriber to the group is out of the question. Kindly share your thoughts and suggestions. Cheers Leigh |

find now using firefox browser that i am member of the group and no longer get snap.
?UR which i switched too from recommendations from some in this group has some features i like.? But finding it tends to limit sites i can visit. get SNAP so switching back to Firefox. I am not computer expert but have had to use them from late 60's for fourier transform NMR.? I was a research chemist (retired now for 27 years). We were encouraged? to learn Fortran. which i never did.? Few years later at the Unjv where I was a professor took week course in machine language.? Later in the mid 80's a fellow working for got his own desk top computer, a kit from Radio Shack.? Soon the organization got the senior people their own desk computer, IBM using MS/DOS.? The organization had their own e mail system and connections, thru telephone lines or cable to Europe, connection to Paris France where we could print our documents directly on their printers.? This was pre internet.? Later they bought another company which used Mac's which were so much better for graphics so we were allowed to switch.? Been using apple products since,? I have two sons well into computers and software,? One of them has written software for GE radar systems, avionics for Lockeed and Boeing and is now develping software for orion the new space vehicle. He hates apple products and has been forbidden to use them in his work by the companies involved (sole vendor issue). The other uses computers to map human gene changes in various cancers to find approaches for therapy.? Can only use non apple hardware for this as no apple software availble for this.? He has some apple products for home use. bob |
