I tried making sure they were both totally off ?(the old iPad was also off) and then starting them up again. ?Now the new iPad finds the laptop but they “can’t pair.” ?And some other device (a neighbor’s? - not real close) came up. ?Meanwhile the MacBook is telling me that I have no Bluetooth devices. ?(I just upgraded this yesterday to Sonoma and I think that’s what caused the problem although I certainly did need a new iPad anyway.)?

Turn OFF - completely - your MacBook Air AND your iPad (slide bar off!)
Restart both and see if there is any change.

I purchased a Mac Studio several months ago. The only people who could access it are my husband and myself. I am having a person come into our home to help my husband for medical reasons two times a week. Until now my Lock Screen was set to after Require password after screen saver begin with the setting of 4 hours. Now I want to turn it back to 5 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but leave it at 4 hours the rest of the week. Is there any automatic way to have the computer perform such a task?
When I was transitioning from living on a laptop to living on a desktop setup – before I had even purchased my M1 Max Studio – I bought an Apple Magic Keyboard with TouchID.
I have the “password after screensaver” set to just 1 minute, since the TouchID on this keyboard works very well, and I also have “Unlock using Apple Watch” set as well.
Safest thing, if you have trust issues, is turn it off during the visit.
My M1 Max Studio running macOS 14.2.1 Sonoma takes all of about 15 seconds or less to cold boot from pushing the button to login screen being ready for input.

I am aware of Acrobat but have avoided it after previous experiences of it interfering with other apps and settings.?
Yes, I could print as a muiltipage document if the app will translate an image into a muitlipage document. ?That’s what I do with the CAD app, which is the only one I have that does that. ?But I was looking for something simpler. ? ?
Easy one first: at some point Save As was removed from the default File menu. I can’t remember if was with 10.14 or before. The solution is simple though: ? changes Duplicate to Save As in that menu.
iCloud automatically syncs: Mail Contacts Calendars Reminders Safari Notes Siri Keychain Find My News Stocks Home and also Photos but that would require much more than the default 5 GB in my case.

Chalk up another for you to not upgrade to Catalina, just yet. And I will back up my former praise of the newer Numbers, until I get this issue resolved. There is no Save As for Numbers v 11.1, which is needed for Catalina. I will call Apple Support later to see if there is a works around. What to you say in Britain to slow a horse down, is is also whoa? Turns our the answer is similar to the solution for Sonoma. Instead of Save as, use Move To, either to Documents or Desktop. I will have to play with it, as to how long it sticks, and if there is a way to sync the Mac with my iPhone like I used to do with Excel and DocsToGo.
Thank you for the clue.
This is a known issue in Sonoma, but this Mac will never get there. That was the thread I was thinking of, from another list. It involves a new Sys Pref / Setting in Sonoma, Desktop & Dock.
Right now, the Mac mini won’t boot if both RAM sockets have a stick in them. I just received larger RAM, and installed them. I called Tech Sup from the retailer and we explored it. Turns out Bank 0 is bad and was also the cause of the extreme slowness of the Mac. It is faster with a singe 4 GB stick of RAM, than two sticks of 2 GB. I have a RMA to send it back for repairs under warranty,
One more issue of Catalina’s need for 64-bit apps, There is a gap on Shirt-Pockets web page. The legacy versions for 10.10 - 10.15 seem to be missing? So I am stuck, because I cannot back up all the work I just spent setting it up, before sending it back.
SPAMMERS (Spectrum ISP and mobile customers beware)
This morning I received a VERY professional-looking message allegedly from my ISP (Charter-Spectrum), “alerting" me that my contact phone number and email address had been changed, and asking me to click a link or to call Spectrum if I didn’t remember initiating those changes.
What triggered my sense of smell were the contact phone number (1?855?70?SPECTRUM) and?the return email address (spectrum@...)
The headers and footers in the html message seem to contain genuine links to the SPECTRUM website, but I suspect the contact phone number does NOT, but rather that the fraudsters managed to find a combination of digits that “translate” to the first four characters in the word “Spectrum.”
Fortunately, I was able to get a live person customer service person on the phone using the company’s genuine website, where I learned that other customers have reported similar suspicious emails. Naturally, I did NOT make any attempt to respond directly to the incoming message
The only thing that disappointed me during my support call was that the customer relations support person seemed to have no interest in recording the sending email address or contact phone number listed in the message itself, but I guess it’s likely that knowing them might not help in truncating the fraudsters malicious activities.
Did you check the settings of whatever program you’re using? Acrobat, for example, has some options under “Poster" in the paper size and handling section of the print dialogue box — at least the paid program does. Don’t know about the free version. ?Preview doesn’t seem to have that option. You’re looking for “tile” options.

First, disconnect the iPhone from your Mac. Then restart the iPhone. Check the playlist.?
If that doesn’t resolve it, then try starting up Music. Give it time to start and make any adjustments it needs to make. Once it is ready, then try syncing the iPhone to the Mac. I just installed Catalina, so I am guessing that is done thru Finder.?

Yes, I assumed that the list of features would trigger some memory of what you’re trying to find.

I’m not quite clear what you’re after. If it helps, I was initially confused by the distinction between iCloud and iCloud Drive. Most of my stuff syncs to my iPhone using iCloud but I need iCloud Drive for Numbers.
The iCloud stuff syncs automatically but for Numbers I need to 'Save As' to get sheets I've worked on on the Mac onto my iPhone.

I’m still on 10.14. This might have changed in 10.15.
