Re: DST issue in calculating local time?
Hi Vince, > My feed only received the Europa eclipses Io event and didn't show the occultation event at 1429UT. You should have received both events. I just want to be sure that there is no problem with OW itself. Do you have an explanation of why only one of the two events is shown (e.g. altitude too low or something else)? Hristo.

Re: DST issue in calculating local time?
Hi Vince, I compute the Planet Satellites events using Occult and then upload them as an OW feed. There may be some error in the process but I need to know which event you are referring to. There are two events on 5 March. One at 13:29 UT (Europa eclipsing Io) and the second one at 14:29 UT (Europa occulting Io) Which one of the two you are referring to? Do you see both of them in OW? Cheers, Hristo.

Re: DST issue in calculating local time?
Hi Vince, OW uses your computer's time zone to compute event times in regards to time zones and DST. If you are running OW on Windows then make sure your Windows timezone is your Arizona timezone. If you are running OW on a Mac - then I don't know how the timezone information is provided from the Mac to the Windows VM but again OW event times will be always following the configured time zone in Windows. Hope this helps. Hristo.

Re: DST issue in calculating local time?
I looked for the 5Mar2021 1329UT on an android app called "Moons of Jupiter".
It concurs with Stellarium that the event takes place at 1429UT rather than 1329UT. I'm using Stellarium on a Win10 Laptop, BTW. could someone else verify the time of the event using another program/app ? The sky and telescope jupiter and moon app concurs with the 1429UT time. Edit: correct times from 39m to 29m and added the S&T Interactive jupiter time as well. |

Since we're doing astronomical observations it would save confusion if

all times in the results were in UTC. If necessary the observer could convert them to local time. We have it much simpler in Europe, there are not so many timezones, no local differences and everybody changes to summer/winter time at the same time. There's even talk of having a single timezone, but the countries can't agree on which one to choose.? DST was introduced because people thought it would save energy, but the actual saving is very small, at the cost of a lot of confusion, especially in timetables Best wishes, Jerry (UTC+1) Am 23.02.2021 um 21:21 schrieb TriAstro: I'm in Arizona, USA which doesn't follow DST. |

Re: OWEvents feed?
Hi Ted, Generally it should be working fine - there is nothing special about installation on a second computer. Can you confirm that on your second computer your account has been configured correctly i.e. when you go to Configuration -> Observation Planner you don't see an error but rather you see the number of users and stations in blue text. I tested that the server is working okay (just now) i.e. it is returning planned observations so this does not seem to be a server issue. Would you be able to collect a DebugView log file and send it for me to investigate further: Hristo.

Re: Possible problem with update
Hi Tim, Try a manual update by: - Stopping OccultWatcher - Right click OWUpdate.exe and choose 'Run as administrator' Let me know if this works. Hristo. P.S. There is also a possibility for an update problem if your version of OW is quite old, but I didn't get the impression that this was the case.

Re: Duplicate entries in "My Events"
I think I found the problem. I somehow managed to put two stations in so I deleted both entries and start it over and it seems to be working fine now. On Fri, Jan 8, 2021, 9:56 AM hristo_dpavlov via <hristo_dpavlov=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Duplicate entries in "My Events"
Hello unknown writer, I can see a single event on the server: C/2020 M3 (ATLA) Occulting UCAC4690036759 on 13 Jan 2021, as a submission by "Rick Frankenberger", with currently two stations: "Cobble K Home" "Sempronio V"From your description looks like this may be a bug in client side Desktop OW. Can you please log it here with all relevant details, including a screenshot: Thanks, Hristo.
