Problem with replies
#question
Hi! My listserv is having a problem with replies to posts that have the #introduction added to them and I'm not sure why. The problem is that when someone replies to these posts, the listserv does not add it to the original thread.I thought it might have to be something wrong with our #introduction settings but they look fine.
Picture below of reply to original post with the #introduction to show you an example. You can see it is split off the original thread even though it is a reply and for some reason groups.io made the subject #introduction#introduction. The last picture is of the #introduction settings (sorry I couldn't get it all in the screen shot). Thank you for reading and for any advice you can provide. Sincerely, Nichole Arp Parent to Parent of CO kk |
Re: Changing a user's email in a premium group
Thanks, Bruce. I've direct added him. It sounds like he may no longer have the password.

You've done nothing wrong; it's just that he's already begun using that new email address somewhere within groups.io. If he has a password set up for the original sbcglobal.net address, he can still log in and merge accounts. You can't do that for him. If he doesn't have a password set up for the older account (and thus cannot log in), or if he's not comfortable with the account merge process (which has its own quirks, see ) things get more problematic. The simplest path forward is probably to just Direct Add him a second time using his new email address. Whether you subsequently remove the bouncing sbcglobal subscription is up to you. Re: Pixellated attached pictures
Thanks. I fed this back.
We had a similar problem with the same person's picture attachments a few months ago. Re: Pixellated attached pictures
The reason for this is that these "images" are not JPEGs, they are RDF files but with the JPG extension for some reason, the file header starts correctly for a JPG for the first few bytes but then it goes astray into RDF land.? I suspect the sender did something incorrectly, maybe some image copy+paste or something, you may want to ask the sender how they embedded those images, and/or send you the email they sent to the group or resend it directly to you, maybe it will shed some light as to what happened.

Pixellated attached pictures
I remember we had some issue with this before and it went away. I received a
post in one of my groups that had 3 pictures attached, but they were so severely pixilated I could not make out what they were supposed to be pictures of. I went to the group web site and saw placeholder boxes in the message but no pictures. Is anyone else seeing this? This is the message. I think non-members can view this. On the site you won't likely see the pictures. Changing a user's email in a premium group
Hello all -
I have a user who has requested me to change his account email in one of my premium groups. He's been using an sbcglobal.net address and they shut him out about six weeks ago and he hasn't been able to get back in. As you might guess, his account is bouncing. The member and I have discussed all the ramifications, and I've been through the discussion of potential problems with Mark a couple years ago. Having done the preliminaries, I went in to his account and changed the email address and then clicked on "SAVE" at the end. After waiting a bit, the system comes back up the the email address box and gives the error message, "That email address is already registered." The new email address is not in use in the group in question. What's happening and what have I not done correctly? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Dano |

Sometimes a non-member message is rejected as spam, and not held for moderation.Mark has said that non-member emails are subject to rules for determining spam.? For obvious reasons, he hasn't said exactly how he filters.? We've found that a member can successfully send the exact same message that was rejected for a non-member since members aren't run through the spam filter. I know that Gmail ignores dots in email addresses. I guess Groups.io doesn't. Correct?Correct.? a person using multiple variations of an email address, some with dots or even in a different position, are all separate addresses/accounts as far as Groups.io is concerned (unless they're set up as aliases for sending.) I wonder if anyone has any suggestion or insight on this. The group setting is to allow non-members' emails to be moderated rather than rejected - so an email to their email account should be moderated and allowed to be posted on Groups.io once approved. ? |
Re: Use case for groups.io
You should be able to do everything you mentioned.? Each subgroup is a separate entity with their own files/photos/etc., so you can have different settings for each.? The only restriction I can think of is that everyone must be a member of the main group before they can be in a subgroup.
Duane -- Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual. |
Use case for groups.io
I'm considering a Premium plan. I want the main group to be an announcement list, not a discussion list. I also want to be able to create visible and private subgroups. (for discussion). Has this use case been used much for groups.io? Also, wiki pages and files be private to subgroups?
Thanks, Chuck |

Re: Can't pin this down on RSS Integrations
Actually, just so I leave this topic clear, turns out after all was said and done the core problem was I had a cache plugin that lazy loaded RSS images - and that made for Broken Images in groups.io I excluded the "wp-post-image" class in the cache plugin,?and was then able to remove the small aforementioned addon. |
Re: Uploading a file to a folder
The file is not large, less that 500kb and in pdf format. And the group is a premium group.
We are nowhere near the maximum file space allocated for files, using 3% of the space. It seems that some members are not seeing the New/Upload button, while the others don't have a problem. Members have permission create folders and view and upload files. It's a puzzle! Margaret |

Thanks - tried that and nothing seems to have changed. Also another member has reported a similar experience - not being able to upload different file to a different folder ... So you have space, your settings allow it, and you have gone to the folder and clicked update.
