Unfortunately, no.

Group owners often assume that everyone receives the same digest at the same time. But digests are actually specific for each individual, based both on their time zone (i.e.: what messages have accumulated before 6 AM local time) and when they started receiving them.

If you were to switch to digest mode today, your first one would be Digest #1, not 480.

As an owner/moderator can I see digest messages if I do not receive digests?

A member of my premium group was unsubscribed "because digest message #479 was marked as spam" by them or their provider (yahoo).
?
I do not receive digests. Is there any way to see what was contained in "digest message #479"?

Merging threads

Hi all

I have a problem when trying to merge two threads.? The system seems to have hung on one particular merge (which did work OK) and when I try to start a new merge, it just refers back to the original thread that I wanted to merge.??
I even tried creating a dummy thread so I could clear the merge, but when I try it just goes to a blank screen.
Any thoughts?

Thanks

Re: Rejected messages marked as spam from non-members #non-members #restricted

Bob,

In this case, there is no interest in adding these emailers to the group membership.

The Groups.io group is for a small core group that are elected to take responsibility for the organization as a whole. However the small group wish to be able to receive emails in their groups.io account which have been forwarded from their email address.

The email integration seems to be working!

Re: Rejected messages marked as spam from non-members #non-members #restricted

Frances,
In our Premium Group, screen people after receiving an application.
At the same time our Application form generates a welcome email to an integration point in the group which is moderatedd.
If, after reviewing the application, they are considered ok,the moderator Direct Enrolls the person and unmoderates the pre built "please welcome (given name, city, state, counttry), who wishes to "yada'yada". which cues members to welcome them to the group.

Re: Rejected messages marked as spam from non-members #non-members #restricted

Bruce,

Thanks, setting up an integration for outside emails from an email address works beautifully. Basically it forwards mail to the Groups.io account from that outside email address and then is moderated as selected.

Re: Problem with replies #question

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Nichole,

This looks to me like the person (or email client) replying added a second instance of the #introduction hashtag to the message subject, that would create a separate topic thread as the subjects don't match anymore.

Do this, in that message with the double #introduction in the subject you posted in the screenshot, click on the More menu and select View Source.? Scroll down until you find the Subject: header.? I have a feeling it will either say,
Subject: Re: #introduction #introduction
or with no Re:,
Subject: #introduction #introduction
You would then need to contact that member and find out what they did which caused the double hashtag in their reply.

I second Bruce's suggestion of adding a group subject tag it makes things easier for email users who subscribe to more than one group.

Cheers,
Christos

Picture below of reply to original post with the #introduction to show you an example. You can see it is split off the original thread even though it is a reply and for some reason groups.io made the subject #introduction#introduction.

The last picture is of the #introduction settings (sorry I couldn't get it all in the screen shot).

Nichole -- Try as I might, I am unable to make this happen.?

What email client are you using to reply? Does it happen when you reply using the web interface? Does it happen with everyone, or just select people??
?
The only thing I can suggest at this point is to create a Subject Tag for the group. That will put something in the subject line of emails (in addition to the lone #introduction hashtag), and maybe that will help any misbehaving software to play more nicely with each other. But I have to acknowledge that's nothing more than a wild guess.

Thanks, Bruce. I've direct added him. It sounds like he may no longer have the password.

The new email address is not in use in the group in question. What's happening and what have I not done correctly? You've done nothing wrong; it's just that he's already begun using that new email address somewhere within groups.io.

If he has a password set up for the original sbcglobal.net address, he can still log in and merge accounts. You can't do that for him.

If he doesn't have a password set up for the older account (and thus cannot log in), or if he's not comfortable with the account merge process (which has its own quirks, see ) things get more problematic. The simplest path forward is probably to just Direct Add him a second time using his new email address. Whether you subsequently remove the bouncing sbcglobal subscription is up to you.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

If all they've done is create an account using the new email address and not actually used it to join any groups, they could delete the account and you could change the address on your group.? This would also resolve the problem of them not having 'ownership' of previous messages/files/etc. that they've posted.

Sometimes a non-member message is rejected as spam, and not held for moderation.

Frances -- If the group is Premium (or legacy Basic), try setting up an email integration and have the forwarder send its mail to the integration address (not the group posting address). This should bypass the spam filtering that is otherwise applied to non-members...and the moderation, too.

If you still want such posts to be moderated you can do that via the integration settings...or simply set the #email hashtag to Moderated.

Changing a user's email in a premium group

Hello all -
I have a user who has requested me to change his account email in one of my premium groups. He's been using an sbcglobal.net address and they shut him out about six weeks ago and he hasn't been able to get back in. As you might guess, his account is bouncing.

The member and I have discussed all the ramifications, and I've been through the discussion of potential problems with Mark a couple years ago. Having done the preliminaries, I went in to his account and changed the email address and then clicked on "SAVE" at the end. After waiting a bit, the system comes back up the the email address box and gives the error message, "That email address is already registered."

The new email address is not in use in the group in question. What's happening and what have I not done correctly? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dano

Mark has said that non-member emails are subject to rules for determining spam.? For obvious reasons, he hasn't said exactly how he filters.? We've found that a member can successfully send the exact same message that was rejected for a non-member since members aren't run through the spam filter.

I know that Gmail ignores dots in email addresses. I guess Groups.io doesn't. Correct?
Correct.? a person using multiple variations of an email address, some with dots or even in a different position, are all separate addresses/accounts as far as Groups.io is concerned (unless they're set up as aliases for sending.)
