Re: Mysterious Email Problem
The scheduled phone call from Cox never came, so I think I'll call Cox and get some more information from them about resetting my IP address...Maybe they might need to be involved in this.
I still keep getting delayed emails from my group and GMF (Sometimes only hours old instead of days), and this is making me wonder abut something. If I was blacklisted would I still get delayed emails (even my own) from my group and GMF? Don |
Re: inconsistent email notification
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSpencer,There is no indication that the message delivery was even attempted.? To emphasize what Bruce said about members perhaps not having their subscription set to receive Individual messages, if they had been set to Special Notice or No Email or something else on the Yahoo group, that preference would have been copied into their subscription on the Groups.io group. In that case it may be normal for them not to receive your announcements. It is also possible that the members have muted the topic or hashtag used in your announcements; though it seems unlikely that hundreds would do so. Another possibility is that the members have chosen Following Only as their Message Selection option (Advanced Preferences), but again it seems unlikely that hundreds would. Re: How many invitations to join can be sent all at once? Any way to place messages in chronological order?
I recently sent 75 invitations to a new policy / political group I started.? I believe it got blocked at about 30 or 40 invitations, however I was surprised how fast they approved the rest.? Maybe I just got lucky, but they got to it in less than a half hour.??

Bounce probe
Has anyone captured an example of a bounce probe email? Does the link within automatically unbounce your account or do you have to log in first?

Re: Date / Time stamp on posts . . .
#date-time-display
I see that the date/time stamp is once again visible as the bottom line in the 'Topic' display of the Messages.
Russell, I was about to report this to Support myself but see that you already did that and the problem is resolved, so thanx a heap. Cheers! Paul M. == |

I thought when an invite was sent, the person it was sent to could click on a link in the email invite that would tell me they did not want to join. Invitees are told that to decline the invitation they should just ignore it. Standard advice when receiving spam is to never click any links in the spam, not even an unsubscribe link. Responding, even if to tell them to drop dead, tells them that the address is deliverable. I have been in communication with Cox about this, and tomorrow I have a scheduled phone call with a level 2 person to find out what they have been able to do...or not do. Excellent. Perhaps they can explain exactly what the issue is. The error message (if I recall correctly) isn't very helpful. A better explanation may help Groups.io correct the problem for all Cox subscribers. Good luck! Jim H |

With no mail being sent to them by Yahoo, nothing was bouncing... which is how an undeliverable email address is detected. Jim H |

Click on Admin>Members. Pull down the blue "Members" menu at top left and select "Bouncing." If his subscriber record is listed here, then his account is bouncing. Click anywhere on his row to open the record, then click on the Email Delivery History button at the top of the page. Share the error codes with us and maybe we can help further. If he isn't among the bouncing members, go back to the blue pull-down menu and select "Members." Again find and open the subscriber record. If the subscriber's message delivery is set to No Email or Special Notices, the system is behaving as intended. Change it back to Individual Messages and save changes if you want. Failing that, again click on the Email Delivery History to see if he is having sporadic problems with message delivery, and share the codes with us.? If you can't find the subscriber record at all, then he isn't subscribed. He may have removed himself unintentionally, or been removed for flagging group messages as spam (see?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Removed-for-spam). You can find out when such a thing may have happened by checking the group's activity log; or if you have a Premium group, by selecting Past members from that same blue pull-down menu and looking up his member record there. ? It's also possible that you have inadvertently been applying a hashtag with a "no email" or "special" flag set. Try sending your announcements without any hashtags to see if the problem goes away. I don't have a lot of experience (read: none) with Announcement-only groups, and acknowledge that this is a shotgun approach to the problem. If none of these things work it may be time to contact support. ? Good luck, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
Re: inconsistent email notification
There is no indication that the message delivery was even attempted.? The problem surfaced when some members mentioned they had not gotten any announcements recently, although one was just sent out a day or so before, and when I looked at the email activity, it shows that the last message sent to the ones who complained was over a month ago, and there have been at least 4-5 messages sent out after that.? I know their email address is valid, since they are getting messages from one of the subgroups they belong to.?

Re: embed group in wordpress
It would appear that groups.io does not allow embedding in an iFrame.? See??for more info.
Mark, the wizard behind groups.io, has decades of experience with this stuff so if he denies this feature he's probably got a good reason for it.? This was put in place in Jan ->? As far as alternatives, you might email Mark at [email protected] and ask. Toby |
Re: Reply offering choice of replying to group or to sender
I had replied before that if you are reading the group messages from your e-mail account and want to reply to sender there are some choices in blue at the bottom of the message. You have to click on the Reply To Sender before typing, cannot do it afterward.
Seems like this is ideal, since it is for a case-by-case option. I don't understand why you would want all messages, via the settings, to go only to sender. If everyone did that the Group would have no messages. I can reply via the group and use the private button, but all my other mail messages are via my e-mail which is really a Yahoo mail. This is the only Group that I read from the Group and respond from the Group. Richard |
Re: two different email addresses link to one account
Ron,
You'll be happier (in the long run) if you set up Thunderbird to use the IMAP protocol to fetch from Gmail rather than POP. Your phone uses IMAP protocol and the two will work together better using the same protocol. As you've seen, the default behavior of POP is to download the message and delete it from the server - meaning that the message is no longer available to your phone. With IMAP both your phone and Thunderbird are looking at the messages as stored on Gmail's server. Changes made by one device are seen by the other. In Thunderbird, but probably not your phone, you also have "Local Folders" - these are folders of messages stored in your computer, similar to POP folders. You can move or copy messages between server folders and local folders to organize things any way you like (but only folders on Gmail's server will be visible to your phone). Hope this helps. Re: two different email addresses link to one account
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMartin, My home computer account I had for years, I¡¯ve only started using a phone email account for a year or so.? I thought I had to use a web browser to use Gmail on my home pc.? After reading up on marlin47 suggestion, to use Thunderbird, I found out I can use Gmail on my phone and my computer using Thunderbird.? What I didn¡¯t understand was I have to set Thunderbird to leave the email on the mail server to see it on my phone too.? It is my mistake, ?I¡¯m not too phone email savvy. Re: inconsistent email notification
Spencer,
I checked the most recent email activity and see that they did getWhen they didn't, what was the reason given by their email service? There's currently a problem with cox.net receiving messages from Groups.io. If they are users of that service, there's nothing you need or can do about it until cox.net straightens it out. Is there something I am missing or do I have to delete those re-addThat's not really a fix for bouncing email addresses. Whatever is causing the member's email service to reject messages from Groups.io needs to be resolved, otherwise the member will go back on bouncing status. If the member's situation is corrected while they are still on "bouncing" (blue B) status then the member will likely receive a notice from Groups.io with instructions for returning to normal status. Once the member has gone to "bounced" (red B) status that means Groups.io has given up on automatically sending these "bounce probe" notices; but you can have one sent. On a related note, is it possible to dump a report showing the mostNot that I know of. You can switch your view of the Members list to show only bouncing members, but that list doesn't tell you specifics. inconsistent email notification
I just migrated about 700 users to a new groups.io site, and the group is setup as an announce only group.? There are several subgroups that people can post ot, but the main group is setup for announce only.? Some users mentioned they were not seeing email notices about new posts, although their subscription settings were set to receive individual messages.? I checked the most recent email activity and see that they did get some notices, but not all.? For one member, I deleted and re-added his membership and that seemed to fix the problem.? I did a spot check and it looks like 200-300 of my users may have the same problem.? Is there something I am missing or do I have to delete those re-add them?? ?On a related note, is it possible to dump a report showing the most recent mail message each user has received?? That would help me locate those that need to be deleted and re-added instead of doing it for everyone.
