DM-1701 pc driver problems
7
Hi, I have tried every possible way to install the drivers downloaded first from the official Baofeng page and then from radioddity.com but without success. I have tried all the usb ports but it is not recognized. Radio arrived with its programming usb cable. The PC has no problem with the ports, the problem is the drivers. In the drivers package there are 3 executable files that do not work because it seems not compatible with Windows 10, I tried to run them also in XP or WIN7 compatibility mode but without success. I don't know what to do anymore, the radio so obviously unusable. Thanks !

UV-25 manual programming
3
We all know the manuals for Baofeng are difficult to understand. I have yet to be able to download the .img file from the radio using Chirp on linux. So, I thought I would manually program a channel for the local repeater. Yeah, right. Trying to make sense of the manual is pretty frustrating. There are a number of sites for the UV-5R, but I don't know if the menus are the same for both models. Can anyone shed some light on this? I would be grateful. 73, KK7MSN

Tassie Devil Radio Case: A Compact Win for My Portable Setup

I have recently come across this tool case at Super Cheap Auto, it might be worth checking out as a good solution for carrying and storing handheld radios. https://uhfbandmonitoring.blogspot.com/2024/10/tassie-devil-radio-case-compact-win-for.html

Baofeng M-5R
7
I just bought a Baofeng M-5R. I didn't need another HT, but this one features the aviation band as well as FM radio, 2m, and 70 cm. It came with an owner's manual titled "UV-5RX Series." I already have a few other Baofengs, so I got this one up and running without delay and the aviation band receiver (AM) seems to work well. One error in the manual (or maybe just a difference between models) is that changing the FM Radio band from 65-75 MHz to 76-108 MHz is stated to be accomplished using the A/B key. But the change is actually made using the BAND key. 73, Maynard W6PAP

Baofeng UV-5RM Plus help with resetting
3
I purchased a refurbished Baofeng UV-5RM Plug off of Amazon and it finally arrived today after UPS misplacing it for a week. It looks in good shape but is password protected when I turn it on. The seller didn't provide the password. Amazon has sent them a message but I wondering if there is a way to do a power on reset which will reset the radio when I don't have a password. Anyone know how to do this? 73 John AF5CC Sent using Zoho Mail

Programming software communication issue
22
Hi all. I purchased a baofeng a couple of years ago as a backup to my Anytone. I wanted to add some frequencies to it this week, which I haven¡¯t done in a couple of years, and it won¡¯t communicate with my windows PC. It used to work fine with the programming software. The only thing that has changed is my computer has had Window updates over the years and now running Windows 10. I saw some info about old divers or cables not working on newer Window versions? Any thought on fix? Brian W2BRM

DM-1701 official firmware
4
Do you know where the official DM-1701 v2.03 firmware and the "DMR Firmware Download software" can be downloaded? I downloaded the Baofeng_DM-1701_CPS_1.05 archive from their official site, but only the programming software "CPS DM-1701 V1.05" is inside and not the firmware update tool and the firmware itself. I can't find any official DM-1701 firmware or firmware update tools on the internet.

UV-17R PLUS DTMF Feature
According to the documentation, DTMF options can be changed by pressing the # key. When I do that, it comes up with an empty menu, and for each time I press the # key, it adds a "#" with no explanation of what the #s mean. I got it to ####, now I can neither add nor delete #s, and I have no idea what any of this means. The manual just tells me how user friendly it is. What am I missing? 73, Lem W1LEM

UV-25... Need some help
11
Greetings; I bought a UV-25 from an Ebay store, and the radios receiver was Insensitive, it receives poorly. After complaining, the Ebay seller sent me another radio. It turns out that both radios receivers are insensitive. Using a TinyVNA's signal generator, through a switched step attenuator, the full quieting receive level is approximately -90dBm on 146, 440 MHz + WX channels. This level equates to approx. 6uV, or S6. VNA's signal generator sends a quiet carrier, no modulation. Using the same testing method on my other handy talkies, I achieve full quieting at -115 to -120 dBm. Note: I used my Rigol Spec Analyzer to verify that my test signals are accurate +/- 1dB. Searching Google and Youtube for help- I find Zilch. Could there an option that I don't understand the meaning of that could be set wrong? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in Advance. -- 73, Ricky KR7W - Callsign Lookup by QRZ Ham Radio Ammon, ID

RT Systems now are supporting the MAC OS for some radios
Here's some news from the Repeaterbook's Tower Talk newsletter. "Have you been waiting to use the amazing RT Systems radio programming software but you have a Mac? RT Systems has now released a MacOS version of their popular programming software for select radios. Download and get your radio programmed today!" https://rtsystems.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/72000578515-rt-programmers-for-macos Not all radios are supported, but some of the more popular ones are. NO SFT-D SAVING MEMORY CHANNEL
8
Gday to all, To, manually, program a memory channel, I use RECEIVE freq in the top register, then effortlessly use the menu to enter offset, SFT-D, etc. Even with a blank channel assignment, SFT-D is never saved to a memory channel. However, things go perfectly in VFO mode. Too much T-Giving turkey? 73 Phil, WF3W

Baofeng UV-5R8W programming question
So far I have not found this setting, but is there a way to lengthen then time your message stays on the screen at start up time? It flashes on then off very quickly. Just want to have it stay on for a little longer before going away. I have done the bulk of the programming using CHIRP. Thanks Bob W8RID

Programming the UV-17 PRO MAX

Just bought the UV-17 Pro Max and can't get it to be recognized with the CHIRP programming software I downloaded. I'm using a UV-17 version that doesn't say UV-17 Pro Max specifically. Any suggestions? Thanks - Bill N6GHz

Chinese mobile radios and crossband memories
3
Are there any Chinese mobile VHF/UHF dualband radios that let you store crossband memories, like where you receive on 70cm and transmit on 2m? The Baofeng HTs lets you do this-finally figured out how on the UV82, but in viewing a few manuals for the mobile radios I can't seem to find any mention of this. Would like something with a little higher power than the HTs to use on the FM satellites without spending a lot of money. This would almost seem necessary if you wanted to use one of these on the FM satellites in half duplex mode. 73 John AF5CC

UV5r - signalink - raspberry pi - APRS
Hardware: UV5R, SignaLink, Raspberry Pi3, APRS Software: Bookworm, Direwolf I have an APRS digipeater/igate set up with the above hardware software. It beacons, repeats, and igates, but when the SignaLink transmit light goes off and relay changes, the UV5R still transmits for a couple seconds. Anyone have any idea why? Thanks

Baofeng UV-82HP Memory programming
3
John . . . <Af5cc1@...> wrote: If you get no responses here, you may want to be the pioneer here and try it and see, then let us know if it worked. If you don't find CHIRP supports your particular radio, you might check RT Systems and see if they have software that works for your model. It's a bit easier to use than CHIRP and supports more models than CHIRP does, but it isn't free. The Chinese HT makers have come out with so many different models and variations that it's no surprise that CHIRP can't keep up on a low-budget operation and offering it for "free" to hams. Memory programming
I have a Baofeng UV-82HP which is a nice HT, and I would like to use it on satellites. However, you cannot manually program crossband memories in it, and setting the repeater shift to large values doesn't work either. Will using CHIRP to program it allow me to store crossband memories in it, like where it receives on 437.810 and transmits on 145,990? 73 John AF5CC
