voice indication of Main A or Main B ?
Hello, I'm programming an AR-5RM for a blind person and have English voice enabled in the menu. Is there some way that the user can know whether the display has Main A or Main B activated, please?

AR-5RM Flash Mode!
Interesting That Unlike The Other UV5's in the same Family The AR-5RM Will Not GO INTO "FLASH Mode By Doing The Power And PTT Turn On. Any One Out Their Know The "Secret" Since The Only Way To Do A "Firmware Dump" One Needs To Go And Do Some "Solder Smoke" Work And I Am Well Past That Now!

Baofeng DM-1701 display colour 10
Hi, I bought a couple of 1701's and when they arrived they had the open GD77 firmware in them, I got the 1701 original firmware from the radioddity site, firmware v2.03, now flashing the radio back to standard the display is not the normal blue, the Baofeng name on turn on is red, so is the menu icon and the icon on the right with the speaker and x, the background is a yellow colour, There does not seem to be any issues with it but i would like the colour like my other radios, (back to blue) Can anyone throw any light on it as i've looked in the programming software and in the firmware software .ini file to see if there is a setting to alter the display colour, but i cannot find anything. Thanks

DM-32UV
Just wondering if anyone has seen any new firmware for this radio. Recently received and its a good bit of kit (review on my blog). One issue I have with it is low TX audio on DMR (gain is set to 5 which is the max) and wondered if a firmware update might help. Currently running 01.1.040 - which i suspect might well be the latest. If anyone knows or has any other ideas, would be appreciated! I guess i have one additional query if anyone knows - What is the best way to allow scanning of Channels (analogue). The scan list only allows 16 entries so i have multiple scan lists. I've created matching zones so everything is broken into groups of 16. Is this the best way to do it? For instance, the airband rx on this radio is superb and i have all the local airports and ATC stored but they're split into different zones and scanlists, which is a bit of a pain. Thanks!

Dm32uv won't change from Chinese 20
My New dm32uv was fine when I got it yesterday until I tried to upload the uk repeater list CSI file on the baufeng program. It's now stuck in Chinese language and won't do anything, I've tried a firmware upgrade, which it did ok but it's still stuck in Chinese and won't do anything. Can I do a factory reset to start completely afresh. Thanks Martin

UV-32 And Any Interesting "Programing" Entry Items? Latest Info
Hello Fellow UV-32 "Owners" I was informed that the UV-32 is in reality a attempt by Baofeng to "RE-CASE a UV-25-UV25-Plus in a NEW Looking Format and "Save a Few $$ and that the APRS Feature Is in a Menu in the the so called UV-32 that have been "upgraded to UV25M. Any One OUT in The Internet "Wild" Know And Or Has The "Firmware" of the UV-25 Plus/M AR-152 ??? UV-32 And Any Interesting "Programing" Entry Items? 7
Added a Couple Of UV-32's To My Collection (Yes I Do Have a DM-32 As Well) The Interesting Part Is The "Latest" UV-32's in the "Official Sticker Do Not Have A "Frequency Listing" of any Type And Are Firmware Ver 0.29 Hardware Ver 1.00 and NOTHING Else..s Previous Units Indicated TREE Band with 220 as the Middle, Yes I Do Know Of The "Spur" Issue But So Far In These I Am Not Seeing It. I Would Like To Do Some "Testing" and "Experimentation" But they DO Not React to any of The DM-32's "Entry" Methodology. I am Sure That Someone out in the "Wild" Has The "Interesting " Info as How To The "Firmware" Entry Points and The Firmware and CPS. Please Share, The Radios are TO Cute". Best Regards 73's Steve

Baofeng 1701 charger
Here is a mod for the desk charger supplied. It uses the TP5100 lithium battery charger module. I sliced off the portion of the original pcb leaving the input socket and battery connectors on the board held by 2 of the original screws. I removed 2 electrolytic capacitors and 2 surface mounted resistors and cut the track as shown in the photos. One of the surface mounted resistors is removed from the TP5100 and the SET is bridged with solder to give 8.4 V output. Placing the TP5100 as shown allows the blue and red light (full charge and charging) to be seen through the original window. Charging time reduced and takes any input from 10 to 18 V dc .

Baofeng DM-1701 5
I bought a Baofeng DM-1701 on Aliexpress. It probably was a mistake because the manual tells me to go to menu settings that don't exist. The last try was to do a Factory Reset, this is what I found: To perform a FULL Reset 1.Turn on the radio and press the MENU button. 2.Press the UP and DOWN arrow key to select RESET (Menu Item 40). 3.Press MENU to choose RESET. 4.Press the DOWN arrow key to choose ALL. 5.Press MENU. The radio will display SOURCE? 6.Press MENU to confirm. The radio will displav WAIT... for a few seconds, then beep twice to confirm reset is complete. 7.The radio will revert to Chinese language mode. Reset is complete. To set lanquage from Chinese to English 1.Press MENU. 2.Press the UP and DOWN arrow key to select VOICE (Menu Item 14). 3.Press MENU to choose VOICE. There's no Menu Item 40. Under Radio Settings, I find: Firmware Version 002.006 CP Version V01.05 Something is terribly wrong. Also I bought a Baofeng DM-1701 that included a USB cable but the cable wasn't packed with my order. I read that this radio is completely different than an analog radio, I am up for that challenge, but when the instruction manual tells me how to do something and the menu isn't what I see, I know I have a problem. Any thoughts on this? 73 David N1EA

1702 or¡. Re: [Baofeng] Baofeng DM-1701
I just went through this. Got a DM 1702 (instead of 1701 )on a recommendation for FM digital. Baofeng DM-1702 with GPS 5W Digital and Analog Two Way Radio Dual Band and Dual Mode DMR Walkie Talkie Dual Time Slot Tier I & II DM1702 with GPS a.co Very VERY hard to CPS code plug program the 1702. Frustrated i broke down and got an Anytone D168uv. AnyTone AT-D168UV ¨C Dual Band VHF/UHF DMR/Analog 5W Handheld Radio ¨C 2 Batteries, 2 Antennas Included- 500K Contacts - USB-C Charging - Plus Great Support from BridgeCom! a.co Much much easier to use and CPS program code plugs and update plugs for D168uv. Both work great with OpenSpot4Pro for cross-mode work (DMR to Fusion, etc.)¡.. but the 168 much easier to use analog or digital. Just saying ¡. IMHO, My recent January 2025 experiences. It works perfectly fine with he stock OS, which is what I use. It is best to program the radio using the CPS (software). Go here: https://www.baofengradio.com/pages/download for the manual, programming guide and programming software. You will need a specific cable to program it, not the cable with the chip in it, like you use for other baofengs. You need this cable: baofeng 1701 cable . There are several places that you can download existing DM 1701 codeplugs (which is the term for DMR programs). You can use the codeplug sample as your baseline. With the DM 1701 (which is my EDC radio), you need several things for DMR to work. 1. Radioid.net DMR # 2. Decide what server you will use (I use Brandmeister, which is the most common). I suggest looking at the local dmr repeaters and using what they use, or you can't connect 3. Download the contacts csv file from Radioid.net (this is the digital contacts list of the other dmr users so they show up in your radio). You cap at 120,000 so you need to chose which to include. 4. Download the list of talkgroups from Brandmeister. I suggest you load them onto an excel and get rid of talkgroups you won't use. I deleted the south america/middle east/europe ones. 5. load the Talkgroup list into your cps 6. load the contacts.csv file into the cps 7. create several zones that you will program your channels into. EX: Primary / GMRS / EmCOMM / Roaming / Camping / DMR Simplex / DMR HotSpot (just depends what you want) 8. create scan lists that relate to the zones you are going to use. EX: Primary / GMRS / EmCOMM / Roaming / Camping, etc 9. create group lists (you will group your talkgroups into group lists related to however you want. EX: US / US WEST / US EAST / UK-Canada / ETC 10. Program your channels (no you can use pre-existing Analog excel files that you might have extracted from CHIRP, BUT you WILL need to modify the Chirp excel to fit the DM 1701 format- You do this by: 1. extract channels from DM 1701 within the CPS (this will give you the format to put them in). 2. extract channels in chirp for the radio you have that does work 3. copy column by column from excel #2 into the formatted excel #1. This is time consuming..but A LOT faster than retyping ALL of your channels. 4. import the new formatted excel into your channels 10. Go back into your zones and select the channels you want in each zone from your list of channels on the radio 11. As you are programming the channels, you will need to select the scan list you want each channel in (it doesn't covert right on the excel, so you do do this manually) 13. When programming a DMR channel you need several pieces of key info. Let's say I am in Colorado and want to program the Brandmeister Guy Hill Repeater into my DM 1701, this is the info I see on the website. This repeater gives me ac

23cm models 12
Since Baofeng is now making triband HTs ridiculously cheap, giving everyone a shot s 222mhz, anyone think there is a chance that they might soon come out with a model that covers 1.2GHZ? That would be awesome-Baofeng on the microwaves. 902mhz would also be a nice edition. I would go $100 for a Baofeng that covered 2m, 222mhz, 70cm, 902mhz, and 1.2ghz. Don't need DMR, GPS or any of those things-just great analog FM. 73 John AF5CC

BaoFeng T26 programming 4
I bought a pair of these simple FRS radios in part because their shape - easy to put in a pocket. The description says they support CTCSS and VOX. The manual describes CTCSS but says nothing about how to select which tone to use. The manual mentions programming the VOX sensitivity but says nothing about how to do it. Does anyone here know or wish to hazard a guess as to how to program these? Also, any speculation or knowledge about why these have so few sellers and why they're not mentioned on the BaoFeng website? Thanks! Halden VE7UTS
