Re: iPhone iCloud adtivation
If it were me, I would contact Apple as to what would be the best way in which to resolve this. After all, it was an OS update that caused the problem.

开云体育The problem for me is that if I understand it correctly if I turn off iCloud for some things that data has been moved to I can lose that data.

When upgrading my Mac I very cautiously check to make sure that any iCloud stuff is turned off in the early stage of the upgrade. iPhone doesn’t give you the chance.? |

This tells you how to manage iCloud storage. I have 50GB for 99 cents per month and have not run out. On Tue, Jun 11, 2024 at 2:31?PM Jim Showalter via <jshowalt=[email protected]> wrote:

iPhone iCloud adtivation
开云体育Why the heck does Apple automatically activate some things for iCloud with an IOS upgrade?I updated my SE 2022 from 16.something to 17.5.1 and now messages and notes are in iCloud and I’m getting notices that my iCloud storage (the free 5GB) is nearly full. I do not want to use iCloud for anything. How do I disable iCloud on my iPhone without losing any data that may have been moved there? Or should I just surrender and buy a terabyte of iCloud space and put everything there? Grumble. |
Re: OT, HIPAA question
开云体育I’ve never use “if not on my contact list”. If I an expecting a call from an unknown number, I pick up, otherwise if goes to VM.?Funny, I contacted AARP recently, and someone would call me back within a week. I asked them to email me, not call. About 10 days later, I get a letter saying they can’t reach me at my old landline number. I haven’t had a landline in almost 20 years, and my profile has my cell number. ? On my iPhone Xr On Jun 9, 2024, at 10:08, Bob G. via groups.io <rowerbob@...> wrote:

Heidi, unsolicitated phone calls is not the issue.

Yes, I know contact info, buying habits, for which party you registered to vote, if you moved or bought a new residence, gets on lists that are sold and traded. That is not the issue. Oh, I forgot, having a baby or getting married, will also get you on a list. HIPAA protects who can legally have and to whom they can share your personal medical information. Since I have had no interaction with this pharmaceutical company, there is no reason for them to have any info on me. The only reason for them to have my contact information, is if they also have my medical information. What I felt is similar to if I walked up to you and mentioned something accurate about your reproductive status. Maybe a bit less shock, but still not a comfortable feeling. I’ve had no contact with BMS, and to my knowledge there has been no recall of the medication I took 8 to 18 years ago. No reason for my doctor or pharmacy to release my info. Scanning business cards
Traffic is light so I thought I'd through out an iPhone adjacent issue I'm working on.
I have about 500 business cards, many double sided. I'd like to have them scanned, run through OCR, have images attached as notes, and set up to import into my iPhone contacts. I've done some Google searching without results, and looked at hardware and software solutions that take time I don't want to devote to this project. Any ideas? dave |

Experience has proven that this can cause problems. ?I did this and weeks later went Apple for help on another matter and they said they would call back. Of course, their Apple number was not in my Contacts app so I missed the call. Called an emergency plumber once, he tried to call back but I never got the call because he was not in my Contacts.app. YMMV…just think about who you add and who you don’t add to your Contacts.app because if they ain’t in your contacts, you ain’t gonna’ get the call. I switched it off because I really don’t that many spam calls on my iPhone. Bob Do or do not! ?There is no try. |
Re: OT, HIPAA question
Lists get sold to companies/individuals. Fine print states the sharing of information with “partners” happens, who may share them with their “partners” and so on…I get calls/emails using my maiden name sometimes. That is how I know the list is old.
In my area, voter registration lists can be purchased. A lot of emails stopped a long time ago, when I re-registered to vote, leaving the email blank. I believe leaving phone number blank was not an option. Sometimes I can’t trace the culprit, but the name used to address me and the product offered gives me a timeline. Contact information gets harvested a lot, causing an invasion of junk mail, phone calls, messages, emails at nauseum. Protecting one’s privacy is an art nowadays. I only accept calls from my contacts. If it is that important, the caller will call again and leave a message. Then I decide whether or not to follow up. Kaiser, for instance, has calls originating all over the map. Fortunately, the caller leaves a message. Heidi |

On Jun 9, 2024, at 5:57?AM, Sanjay Kanoria via groups.io <wsbunter@...> wrote:I am presuming that the problem is with your Gmail account? If so, you have two choices. The first is to turn off the automatic addition of contacts, and the second is to turn off using Gmail contacts. The first option is to turn off an option in your Google settings. 1) In a browser, go to . If not already logged in, do so. 2) Select the settings icon (cog) on upper right. That shows quick settings, but you need more details, so select “See all settings”. 3) Immediately under Settings you will see a number of tabs, such as General, Labels, etc. If you are not on the General tab, then select it. 4) Towards the bottom of the page, you will see the, “Create contacts for auto-complete:” setting. It has two options: - When I send a message to a new person, add them to Other Contacts so that I can auto-complete to them next time - I'll add contacts myself Change the setting to “I'll add contacts myself”. The second choice would be to turn off use of Gmail contacts on your devices. On iOS/iPadOS: Go to the Settings app > Contacts > Accounts > Gmail. Then turn off Contacts. You will be warned that “All Gmail contacts will be removed from your iPad. Are you sure you want to continue?”. Select “Delete from My iPad” to remove Gmail contacts or select “Cancel” to retain them on your device. Although the warning sounds drastic, you can turn it on again to get them back again. On Mac: With the Contacts app open, go to Contacts menu > Settings (Preferences on older macOS versions) > Accounts tab and select your Gmail account in the left pane. Deselect “Enable this account” in the right pane. Unlike for iOS/iPadOS, no warnings are given. Just select the option if you want to enable it again, |

开云体育WAS:?Re: [AppleiPhone] Getting set up with Google Voice, started a new email to not steal a thread. Yeapers, Jim! I never get that one straight.? You know these things, Jim S. I got the breach notice from a third party hired by ?Bristol Myers Squibb. I was briefly prescribed a medication. I did not request assistance to get the med, or join any research program. I did not sign any specific release of information in regards to this medication, medical condition, or treatment, with either the medical group or my pharmacy, CVS.? I believe I used the medication either 8 or 18 years ago. Why does the pharmacy have any of my information in their system? I can’t get to anyone at BMS to find out why, or get it removed.?
