Reset to Factory Settings

When an iPhone or iPad is reset to factory settings, the passcode and/or password is reset to nothing, correct?

Re: Cannot Pass Activation

Somehow I’ve not appreciated this.

I *think* I’ve got an Apple ID only because I want to sync Address Book, Contacts, and Calendar between Mac and iPhone.

Is a Mac similarly locked to an Apple ID?

I am able to use it for emails and web browsing, like recipe hunting, but not much more.

If the app is not on it, I can’t add it, so Excel and Numbers are out. The browser is getting long in the tooth, so I don’t know how much longer I can use it to browser the web.

Didn’t it use to be the case that you could factory-reset an iPhone, the idea being that you could use it as if it were new, but *not* of course access any of the previous owner’s settings or content?

A phone can be locked to a network… if you buy a phone on an installment plan from AT&T, for example, it will be locked to the AT&T network until it is paid for and AT&T has released it.

A user can lock access to her phone by assigning a passcode to it and requiring that the passcode be entered in order to gain access.

The word ‘locked’ is used to describe the status of both conditions. I chose the wrong one.

Magic happened and both the Watch 5 and iPhone XR went back to normal behavior just like that! ?Setting new reminders on Watch now appear in the correct location on the iPhone and the Watch battery depletes at a normal rate. ?I have no idea why the glitch occurred or went away.

??Both are updated to the latest OSs and have been since the updates came out. ?I did hard reboot both devices when the problem appeared but it didn’t help. ?Then overnight the problem righted itself. ? Stuff like this makes me nuts. ?I need to understand WHY, and it’s not possible. ?Argh! ? At least I don’t have to get a new battery for my Watch. ?I checked a couple of do-it-yourself videos on You Tube and baby, it ain’t easy!

Re: Watch/iPhone communication issue

Try doing a soft reset on the watch by holding down the crown and the side button until?you see the apple logo. Also did you reboot both devices?

Also, you haven't mentioned what version of OS is on your devices. I have a series 4 and it took me 3 reboots of the watch after the latest OS update, using the process I described in the previous paragraph, to get my watch to not need charging in the middle of the day. Not sure why as usually it's only one reboot.?

What to do if you were impacted by “The Mother of All Breaches”

I got this from 1Password and will post it on the forums to which I subscribe
?
The mother of all breaches (MOAB). That’s how security experts are referring to the recent discovery of a massive database that is composed of data from thousands of previous breaches, leaks, and private data databases.
?
“But why should I care? How does it impact me?”
?
The breach includes over 26 billion records. That’s staggering. And that means if any of your accounts are included (or if you reuse passwords anywhere), you need to take action in order to protect yourself and your family.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I am using the Bluetooth connection to my Hearing Aids when it works, but otherwise the (not very loud)-speaker

I have found "Headphone safety" in SETTINGS>SOUNDS, but I can see what I have to do to tell it to stop messing me about and leave the volume on maximum where I set it.

Are you listening to the speakers, or is it sending a signal directly to your hearing aids?

The iPhone has a switchable sound-limiting setting that applies to “headphones” – which I suspect may include hearing aids as well as earbuds, airpods, and actual headphones.
