Somehow I¡¯ve not appreciated this.
I *think* I¡¯ve got an Apple ID only because I want to sync Address Book, Contacts, and Calendar between Mac and iPhone.
Is a Mac similarly locked to an Apple ID?

Frank¡¯s iPad is only useable because he did not use a lock code. Frank had had a bad stroke and had problems with fine motor control and speech, so locking it would have denied him access.
I am able to use it for emails and web browsing, like recipe hunting, but not much more.
If the app is not on it, I can¡¯t add it, so Excel and Numbers are out. The browser is getting long in the tooth, so I don¡¯t know how much longer I can use it to browser the web.
