seems to me the vna saver is iffy,i get a smith chart with only the trace displayed ie none of the circle markings,its like the trace is in thin air,any ideas?,on my lappy the creed display just jitters all over,mentioned this a few times but lagley seems to be ignorred!

hi all im thinking of changing from sma to bnc connectors on my vna,maybe mounted on an extender board hooked up to the vna with some small coax,is there any issues with doing this as regards acuracy etc,i assume using 50 ohm coax and re calibrating it should be ok?,any idea?.,cheers M3vuv.

Thanks for the tip Softmaker freeoffice. It has a full visual basic compatibilty with free version? Zplots not work on older excel, libre office and openoffice. Currently write reply from my phone, i will test later.

I have one more question regarding the NanoVNA Saver software

In the TDR display there are two traces, One Red and one blue. I understand
the red but not the blue. Would some please give me an explanation of the
blue trace?

Sorry Bob but the stlink won't charge the battery as it's connected to the 3v side of the regulator that runs the micro.?

Don't move the marker by touching it.? Use, instead, the multipurpose rocker control at the top.? Rocking it one way or the other will move the marker in use.? To change markers you go to the menu.

Just received my new NanoVNA and beginning to learn how to use it.? I have read the "user guide" but it is not much help with my problems:

After I set the menu settings for display, frequency, etc., and start trying to use it, I am having trouble moving the markers to where I want them on the trace.

As I go to touch a marker to move it where I want it, the menu comes up automatically on the right and the marker doesn't move. I close the menu and try again with the same result.? Repeated attempts will eventually allow me to move the marker, but it is still problematic.

What am I doing wrong or missing?

Also, is there a setting where I can tell it to boot back up to my last screen settings, instead of the factory default out to 900 MHz?? This would allow saving the battery when I have to be make extended changes to an antenna and not have to reprogram everything again.

Additionally: Is there software for use with a Win 7 or Win 10 PC and for Android?

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Rudi
I have made a report which by examples show you how to do. You have a poor calibration as the trace is outside Smith Chart and you have not impelemted the delay You need to use the latest 0.2.1 NanoVNA-Saver with Offset implemented which has an error as the delay is to enter by a factor of 10.
Regarding difficulties to see the entire NanoVNA-Saver remember to maximize and in my case font size 7 then it is perfect

I have 3 questions:
1. Where did you subtract the length (20 cm) ?

2. Did you mean that the S11 phase oscillation curve (about sinus) horizontal center line
should be minimised to a straight line and not be bowed?

3. Did you mean with the change of Z0 to connect a resistor of 50 Ohm
at the end of the 22 cm coax cable? And then vary this resistor in 0.1 Ohm steps
to minimise the amplitude of the phase oscillation amplitude?

In this screen shot there are 2 diagrams with S11 Phase.
When I try to get a similar diagram with a 30 cm RG174 coax cable with open end I get see attached screen shot nanoVNA-saver_RG174-30cm-open-end.png

if you're talking about save trace and grid colors on NanoVNA, you can do it with menu CONFIG => SAVE.

But these colors cannot be saved if you're loading different firmware file into NanoVNA.
