Don't move the marker by touching it.? Use, instead, the multipurpose rocker control at the top.? Rocking it one way or the other will move the marker in use.? To change markers you go to the menu.

So I just hold it in place and can charge the battery via the ST-LINK?? I don't care about programming at this point but I would like connectivity to a computer.? Holding it in place is another story.? I already have charging capability so it's just data I need to get.

the S11, S12*S21, S22 parameters of a two-port network
in terms only of the VNA reflection measurements of

Hi Rudi
Your screen shots is very hard to view. A dark background would help a lot.
I think the other details is explained in the report you just have received

Re: New version of NanoVNA-Saver: 0.2.1

Hi Rudi
I have made a report which by examples show you how to do. You have a poor calibration as the trace is outside Smith Chart and you have not impelemted the delay You need to use the latest 0.2.1 NanoVNA-Saver with Offset implemented which has an error as the delay is to enter by a factor of 10.
Regarding difficulties to see the entire NanoVNA-Saver remember to maximize and in my case font size 7 then it is perfect
Kind regards
Kurt

Hello Kurt,

Thank you very much for your quick answer.

I have 3 questions:
1. Where did you subtract the length (20 cm) ?

2. Did you mean that the S11 phase oscillation curve (about sinus) horizontal center line
should be minimised to a straight line and not be bowed?

3. Did you mean with the change of Z0 to connect a resistor of 50 Ohm
at the end of the 22 cm coax cable? And then vary this resistor in 0.1 Ohm steps
to minimise the amplitude of the phase oscillation amplitude?

I mean your file "NanoVNA supplied cable 50K to 500MHz.png" in post 7877 at 2019-12-05 20:10.

In this screen shot there are 2 diagrams with S11 Phase.
When I try to get a similar diagram with a 30 cm RG174 coax cable with open end I get see attached screen shot nanoVNA-saver_RG174-30cm-open-end.png

Re: Saving colour preferences

if you're talking about save trace and grid colors on NanoVNA, you can do it with menu CONFIG => SAVE.

But these colors cannot be saved if you're loading different firmware file into NanoVNA.

John, could you please explain, what you're talking about?

I have 3
NanoVNA's and I just picked a random which I measured as shown and it is longer than the one I mentioned in the previous post. The two cables I got delivered with the NanoVNA-H in enclosure has test cable of 23cm between calibration planes and I did not measure the accurate length before now.
Regarding the comment about nanoVNA-saver screen shots I do not catch what you refer to versus "NanoVNA supplied cable 50K to 500MHz.png" It is something I have supplied or what ?
Regarding the problems with space versus underscore I do know but for old pdf files I cannot change as links are made in may document. I a slowly changing my behavior.
Kind regards
Kurt

Hello Kurt,

Thank you very much for your interesting comparison of the two coax cables.

Unfortunately I could not understand by which parameter you conclude that the 20 cm NanoVNA supplied cable (RG174?) does *not* have 50 Ohm.
Do you please have a more detailed explanation for that assumption?

In your posting 7937 (2019-12-06 23:04) you appended the file: "Measurements of test cables.pdf" you wrote also about a 33 cm NanoVNA supplied cable (RG174?). Is that the same coax cable like to 20 cm NanoVNA supplied cable (RG174?) you mentioned in post 7877 ?

By the way, the nanoVNA-saver screen shots in x=1024 pixel size are very difficult to read by me (NanoVNA supplied cable 50K to 500MHz.png). I am using a font size of 11 pt and a x width of about 1600 pixel.
If you replace in the PDF file names the SPACE characters by an underscore it will give less problems in a web link.

Zplots good free tools, but requires not free expensive Excel. Nanovna best for low budget. I think experts can share for free the required maths. I see Sim Smith Chart programmer comment also get the math to his program.
