Re: Mohave to Catalina and Microsoft

Over the past several years, I’ve attempted to migrate from MS Office to Apple’s suite, but back when I was doing scientific writing I found it impossible to create reference lists for scientific articles that would adapt to changing the location of referenced text to different places in my articles. In 2015 and 2016 I marveled at the power of Excel via participation (as an end user) in the growth of an online multi-sheet Workbook that cataloged VW diesel owners’ experiences with the company’s buyback program. Literally thousands of VW diesel owners participated in that effort in the same fashion. The basic workbook was developed and published by one individual, and I never saw it crack under the strain of all those people reporting their own journeys to redemption. I cannot imagine Numbers accomplishing that task. Then again, the spreadsheets I create myself typically are single-task projects designed to make certain I don’t spend to much on my electronic gadgets, or other very modest goals, and my writing in word processors is dominated by quite simple letters. ?I’ve created many of my own templates in MS Word. They seem to work well so long as I don’t attempt to use them in Pages; when I do, they’ve typically produced real messes when I attempted to print documents created with them. The errors may be my own, and I’m always aware that Apple is giving away tools intended to replace the MS Office suite for which I pay, and pay, and pay. I thought retirement would give me time to transition, but thus far it has not. Jim Robertson |

Re: I'net Radio app suggestion(s)
I don't use it much but I'm surprised no one else has mentioned iTunes/Music. Loads of internet radio "stations" in there, grouped by style/genre.? Otto On Wed, 6 Nov 2019 at 04:44, Daniel Settles <denver1.dan1@...> wrote: Howdy. |

WOW!!? Thank yo Randy, I had delete every app I did not know and restarted the Mac at least a dozen times with no results. I tried DetectX and it worked. Do you suggest I run the app mostly? Thanks again? Sue On Tue, Nov 5, 2019 at 9:12 PM Randy B. Singer <randy@...> wrote:

Howdy.
iTunes does streaming radio. The replacement Music app for Catalina also still does streaming radio. You can add new streaming stations. This is a link to a great streaming radio locator. It lists stations all over the world. <> Denver Dan On Tue, 5 Nov 2019 18:36:35 +0000 (UTC), Budd Turner via Groups.Io wrote: Still getting my Group.io legs after decades on yahoo groups....[|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|][|] iSent from iDan's GyazMail on my MacPro |
Re: make screen smaller--
I knew I had run it to it before, and gotten out of it. But I don't like full screen, so I couldn't remember the details of how.

Try Malewarebytes.I can't recommend Malwarebytes anymore; at least as a first choice for dealing with adware. MalwareBytes has become very intrusive recently. Even the free version of MalwareBytes now installs a lot of files all over your Mac, deep in the System. If you put "malwarebytes" into EasyFind, it's really varied for folks. Some find just a few files, some find as many as 23! I don't know what they are all doing, but as they are all very deep in the System, I don't trust it, and I don't trust the company it comes from. Instead I now recommend this very similar program, which isn't as intrusive for dealing with adware: DetectX ___________________________________________ Randy B. Have you accidentally entered full screen mode? If you take the cursor all the way to the center top and keep trying to go further, do you get the menus? If so you can click on Views and exit full screen. Paul Sent from my iPhone. Some imagination required. On Nov 5, 2019, at 5:46 PM, Daniel Settles <denver1.dan1@...> wrote: |
Re: I'net Radio app suggestion(s)
Good question ! ! !
If I had received replies from the author, I probably would not have needed to seek suggestions from the group. Looking at 29 offerings, ranging from free to $10, in the App Store. I'm sure we all have installed apps that were not worth the time to download, and never used again. ? I am hoping someone has, uses and suggests a worthwhile I'net radio app. Budd Late 2009 21.5" iMac, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD MacOS 10.13.6 |

I did the same thing about 7 years ago when I got this iMac. I forced myself to learn the iWork apps, and I’m glad I did. I use them exclusively now. Easy to build documents with these apps. Nice looking documents. The only thing missing is a database app. I fill that need with one called ’Tap Forms’. Excellent app. Reasonably priced. It reminds me of the old Symantec Q&A database product of years past. It is easily searched using QBE (Query By Example). A nice plus with Tap Forms is there are apps for Mac AND iOS and all instances of Tap Forms can sync each other. Nice!
