I¡¯d look for an as-new used replacement, but that¡¯s just me.

Who let the dogs out?!?!

Just an observation.

I know the amount of spam varies month to month, but wow, this month had a vast increase. I just deleted about 150 spam emails in October on my Apple email account, caught in the Junk folder. The filters are working fine. My usual haul is 0-10, and an occasional 20.

About 25 were from a canceled account from a publisher for two professional magazines I cancel over 10 years ago. They decided that I wanted to start it up again. I guess someone got a new marketing vp or consultant.

Can anyone guess at how the filters caught a legitimate business, sending legitimate emails, if I had re-subscribed?

I just checked, I don¡¯t have a listing in my Contacts for them or their various business names.

Either way, I haven¡¯t seen this much spam in many years.

I¡¯ve used various spreadsheets since the early 90s. I used Excel at work and then some version of Open Office when I got my first Mac. When iWork 09 came along I thought I¡¯d try Numbers. At first I found it strange but soon got to like it a lot, despite its limitations. The most glaring one IMO is the lack of a ¡®lock cells¡¯ function to prevent accidental overwriting or deletion of formulae.

Now when I try the more Excel-like Libre Office or PlanMaker Office (the one that Randy S recommends so often), I find *them* strange!

One of my interests is the CET (Central England Temperature), the oldest continuous temperature record in the world. Here¡¯s a small part of one table in my Numbers sheet, with conditional colour formatting:

Since we¡¯d driven on that overpass, and since FindMy gave me frequent updates to its constant apparent location, we returned to that location and saw it, wedged against the 3 ft tall wall at the edge of the overpass. Of course, with average vehicle speeds in excess of 80 mph, I did NOT dare trying to retrieve it.

Over the next 45 minutes, those updates continued, but then the reported location suddenly changed to a cluster of restaurants nestled a few hundred feet away from the overpass. The reports provided a very specific street address, at which two separate restaurants were located. I called them both, and neither reported a customer trying to leave a device at the business closest to where it had originally been reported. Curiously, however, after about 30 minutes, the device location reports returned to their original location, making me realize that they depended a LOT on the location of the identifying device. And, driving over that overpass once more revealed my iPad still resting where we¡¯d found it previously.

I¡¯ve been told that a highway patrol trooper will retrieve it, but that was now almost 4 hours ago. Being accelerated into a wall at 70 mph won¡¯t be kind to it, but hope springs eternal .
