Re: corrupted from email addy
#MacSupportCentral
I saw that too, but when I look at the email address in the member list it doesn't have that problem. You wouldn't receive any emails if it was wrong. I don't know how or even where I would fix that. It could be because your profile doesn't have the user name filled in so it is substituting your email address. I don't know. You could try updating your profile and see if that fixes it. Looks like a groups.io bug.

That is where I started, but it did not work Barry, since the from shows the members eddy, not the group's.

Look at the from on this email. it is not from?macsupportcentral, but?"Brent via Groups.Io" <whodo678@...> You can change it to "to", but I also had Subject contains [macsupportcentral] which could cause a problem since I also had a rule to move any old MSC emails to an separate folder. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI just simply made a copy of the old rule for the YahooGroup and changed the address. Works fine. Even sent it to the same mailbox.

corrupted from email addy
#MacSupportCentral
I mentioned that groups.io mangles some from email addresses. Mine is showing as:
Brent via Groups.Io" <whodo678@...> But I noticed that many here are not having that done to theirs. I think it might have to do with how I joined groups on yahoo. Could one of the admins or mods here look into that and correct it or tell me how? I would much appreciate it. Brent whodo678@... |

Re: Importing Database

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHiI am attempting? to set up a new group due to the Yahoo betrayal. I just tried? in import a database (csv) but nothing happened. I took a shot at a manual build but can't seem to make it format the way to which my group is accustomed and when I've made errors, I can't seem to correct or remove them without? deleting the whole thing and starting over. Suggestions? Like to know before I try anything else ( like importing the group/archived images, etc.). Rob CrittersDen ( new) |

May I suggest starting your own thread, instead of trying to steal someone else's?

You can do this by going into your groups.io account and changing your prefs. On Oct 17, 2019, at 10:42 AM, John Ferman wrote:

Re: Creating an Outlook Rule for Macsupportcentral

Since, in some groups on groups.io changes the From I wrote a new rule: If any of the following conditions are met: __To__ contains?[email protected] Perform the following actions: Move Message to mailbox:?macsupportcentral io Note the to as opposed to from. I used the extra io in the mailbox name to differentiate it from the old yahoo group. I plan to archive the old. I might later add a condition of Subject contains [macsupportcentral], if I find I need it, but left it out to avoid confusion at the moment. Don't for get the order of the rules matters. Simpler and fewer rules is better. Brent On Oct 17, 2019, at 10:36 AM, Leigh MacKay wrote: Hi, everyone. |

I also suggest turning off the polls option, if you can. They are rarely used and I found them annoying and meaningless, since so few replied to them. Just my 2 cents.

I could not see them anyway, because I joined the group with an email addy, not by getting a yahoo groups account, so my vote is to let them remain and die with yahoo.

You might want to request tech support from CCC.

I am not computer expert but have had to use them from late 60's for fourier transform NMR. I was a research chemist (retired now for 27 years). We were encouraged to learn Fortran. which i never did. Few years later at the Unjv where I was a professor took week course in machine language.I learned Fortran IV one summer during medical school (1967). Did some trivially simple programming using a paper-tape feed for a Varian computer when spending a summer at NASA (1969). Got a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model III (1979). |

Thanks, Dave. You got me headed in a new direction. Your suggestion didn't work however I noted that Outlooks "To:" line is always "[email protected]".
My new working rule is "Any recipient" contains "[email protected]". Additionally, I changed my macsupportcentral preference to "Daily Journal". That, more than anything, will set things to how they were. Cheers |
