Re: USB hub not working with new M4 Mac

Personally, I make a point of spending extra to get the current-edition Thunderbolt cables, and therefore never have to worry whether it will connect properly with a USB-C device. -- Jim Saklad jimdoc@... |

Looks like your problem is solved, but FWIW, I got one from a local store that does their own line of equipment, and is not available outside of western Canada. ?As for compatibility, I mean the protocol not the type of connector. ?So if the computer supports USB 3.2, then so should the hub. ?The important point is that it should say on the box what it works with and that you can¡¯t assume it will work otherwise despite how obvious it seems. |

Re: modify single instance of repeating event
It¡¯s fairly common for someone to need to remove a specific event from a repeating event. It would be needlessly onerous to have to manually enter all of the remaining ones just because something occurred for one of the series of events. That¡¯s why there¡¯s an option to delete such an event. He just wants the option of removing it from the series, rather than deleting it.

Re: modify single instance of repeating event
In which case, it isn¡¯t really a repeating event, is it? I would simply start typing the event title at the new date/time each time, which will autofill and allow you change what you want to (I think!).

USB hub not working with new M4 Mac
In November 2023 I bought this hub for use with my 2012 Mac mini: I didn¡¯t really need 16 ports, but I was running out of ports on my previous hub, and I figured there was something to be said for being sure I¡¯d always have enough ports. The hub has worked fine with the Intel Mac. Yesterday I dropped off the 2012 Mac and my new M4 Mac mini with my local Mac tech so he could migrate my user account and data to the M4. I got the M4 Mac home tonight, and it works, but items plugged into the USB hub simply aren¡¯t recognized¡ªprinter, USB thumb drive, you name it. When I plug things directly into the Mac, they work. Naturally I¡¯m using these: My Mac tech said he doesn¡¯t know of any case of a hub working with one computer and not with another. Since the hub is the common denominator, I figure trying another one can¡¯t hurt. This would be my chance to get a hub with a USB-C male connector to plug into the Mac, but I¡¯d still need some USB-A female connectors for my legacy peripherals. I don¡¯t have any Thunderbolt peripherals, so I could theoretically plug items into the Thunderbolt ports, but 5 ports total is still not a lot of ports. Any recommendations as to specific USB-C hubs? Thanks. |

He wants to be able to repeatedly change a single event in a series without repeatedly being prompted about it. Essentially, he wants an option to remove a specific event from the series, without deleting it.

Re: modify single instance of repeating event
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks Bev. Being wrong is becoming a more frequent event for me. Seems like the repeating event behavior changed not long ago at the same time the repeat event icon (one arrow above another pointing the opposite direction) appeared. I don¡¯t recall seeing that before, either.? Thanks for the input.? Jim

Re: modify single instance of repeating event
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBasically, you want to remove, but not delete, one event from a repeating series? ?A search revealed that hasn¡¯t been possible for years, if ever. ?(I saw several folks ask about this over the years.) ?Currently, the only options seem to be to modify it in the series or to delete it altogether. ?To get what you mentioned, you would have to delete that instance and manually add it back as a single event. You could ask Apple to add that feature to Calendar. ?If it were me, I¡¯d request it once for each device that I use. Re: Can I make an "app" in iOS from a website?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
I've used Strava for years, which was born as a cycling site but now supports other sports as well, and I¡¯ve discovered that I can see maps of the trail network at my Nordic Ski Center, but I have ¡¯t figured out yet how to incorporate the trail data into manually posted ski sessions if I forget to toggle my iOS ?gps Strava app ¡°on" to record a session. (Easy to remember in Spandex in summer; a bit more of a challenge to remember when I¡¯m encased in 4 layers of quilted ¡°stuff¡± and the outside temp is hovering close to 0¡ãF.)

modify single instance of repeating event
OK, this is just a minor annoyance, but still¡.
I could swear in the past when I modified a single instance of a repeating event it was no longer considered a repeating event, and I could modify it again and not have to select whether to modify only this event or all future events. That no longer appears to be the case on my Mac (Sequoia) or iPhone (18.2). Is it just me? Thanks. Jim |

I¡¯m retired (proprietary software development, maintenance, and support). Many of the folks here know much more than I do about Apple devices (I¡¯m somewhat of a Johnny come lately). I just have some time on my hands, an interest in the subject, and look up a lot of things when they come up in this forum.
