This may be a stupid question but I would like to know when & how TM?supposedly "deletes" older backups. ?I have watched my 1Tb G-DRIVE ev RaW?rapidly fill up until this AM it has only 52.24Gb free.
The ?internal drive in my?2017 MBP is a 1Tb SSD with 572.1Gb free. ?My concern is that in a lot of the?posts I've read the suggestion is to get another/larger external backup device &?carry on like nothing happened.
You could get the (free) BackupLoupe:

which gives you visual insight into what Time Machine has been doing and the sizes of your Time Machine backups.
My normal recommendation is to have the space available for Time Machine to be at least 2? - 3 times the space occupied by data being backed up. You have a little over 400GB of data, and 1000GB of Time Machine space, so you¡¯re right at the edge. And remember that when you first start running Time Machine, it will backup the whole 400GB the first time.
