It does NOT turn off anything else (e.g., Wifi, background apps, ¡).
You could try turning Wifi OFF before closing it,
OR putting it in Airplane Mode (which should turn off any radios it has),
OR turning it off completely.
If I remember correctly, that would be pressing the On/Off button until ¡°Slide to turn off¡± appears on the screen, then doing that ?(slide to turn off).
