Re: browser question...

actually, there are an astonishing number of people who upload videos every day, although accuracy of the estimated volume is very hard to pin down, if not impossible¡here are some conservative estimates of?DAILY video uploads on five popular platforms:

facebook ? 2 billion?

twitter/X? 1 billion?

instagram 95 million

tiktok? ? 34 million

youtube? ? 4 million

TOTAL ? ? A BIG NUMBER

my fixation on this has to do with my uploading videos on youtube at 12mbps (isp comcast/xfinity)...uploading a 10-minute video at that speed can seem interminable...jim saklad's upload speed is 75 times faster than mine...i suspect a 10-minute video upload would take a minute, maybe less...my question is, how is it possible for his upload speed to be 75 times faster than mine?...he says his imac in connected to "gigabit" Fios...what is that?...what isp is providing that kind of upload speed??

It's usual in the UK for download:upload speeds to be in the ratio 10:1 and I¡¯d guess the same would apply to at least some ISPs elsewhere. The reasoning is that most users do a lot of downloading and very little uploading so it makes no sense to give uploading any larger share of the bandwidth. If you run a server open to the web, which anyone can download from (*your upload*!), then your needs are very different, of course.
