Re: soemtimes Flex (SmartSDR) and logger lose each other
Thanks for the insight. What about the Logger32 Serial port settings - baud rate /parity/stop bits/data bits?

Re: soemtimes Flex (SmartSDR) and logger lose each other
Hi Johan, I had this problem for a time with my 8600 but never with my old 6600. The latest firmware seems to have largely cured the issue, but here's how to make sure you don't have any issues:
Always start Smartsdr and Smartcat (this also applies to Thetis and before all that PowerSDR) before starting Logger32 or any other logging software for that matter (N1MM, DXlog etc) and let the logging software find Smartsdr. Polling rate matters, I have found that I can can use a polling rate as low as 50ms provided that after launching Logger32 I wait a few minutes for everything settle down and confirm that Logger32 is tracking Smartsdr by scrolling the waterfall. The delay seems to be the key. Currently I am using a polling rate of 150ms and provided I start Smartsdr and then Logger32 and confirm that Logger32 is tracking Smartsdr as described above, I am good to go ie no settling down period is necessary. 73, Frank GI4NKB ?

Re: soemtimes Flex (SmartSDR) and logger lose each other
So what are the settings for the Logger32 end? Guess I 'aint so smart.?I downloaded the FlexRadio CAT docs, and it doesn't contain the word 'baud'.
?
How/where/when foes a user define the the serial port parameters to use, and what options are available?

Alec, where are the settings in SmartSDR for baud/parity/etc? I see nothing in the documentation. SeventyThree(s).

Re: soemtimes Flex (SmartSDR) and logger lose each other
Thanks Alec. Johan, on Logger32 click VIEW and make sure the option ENABLE ERROR TRAPPING is checked. Logger32 will now generate error messages if there's anything it doesn't like.. SeventyThree(s).

Re: soemtimes Flex (SmartSDR) and logger lose each other
Hi, I use Flex-6400 with Logger32 and have never had any such issues. However, Flex-8400 is another animal and I hear a lot of comments stating it is technologically still in a crawling state... Best regards, Alec

Re: soemtimes Flex (SmartSDR) and logger lose each other
I Googled the SmartSDR documentation, but find no reference to Baud rate/parity/etc. of the serial port. What speed settings are available, and what are you configured for?
?
Both Logger32 and SmartSDR have event monitors (debug windows) they?show message exchange. The clues you need are probably there. SeventyThree(s).

PS. Again, it would be nice if someone who as actually seen a FlexRadio would offer advice.

Re: "User Input Key Clicks Saved"
John If "Contemporaneous user input sequence" option is checked (in UDP BandMap, Config/Logging option), this message is displayed. If this option is checked, QSO is logged automatically in Logger32 when QSO is logged in jtdx or wsjtx. 73 de aki JA1NLX

"User Input Key Clicks Saved"
During Logger32 start-up, various little windows pop up on the screen, including one that says something like "User Input Key Clicks Saved".
What is that telling me, exactly? At this point, I have typically clicked the icon in the taskbar to start Logger32 and nothing else.
I can't see anything in the manual.
I'm only asking out of interest, not because there's anything wrong - it all works extremely well.
?
Thanks for a great program, Bob.
I keep recommending it whenever anyone asks about logging software. Maybe I should get a cut of the profits... :)

Re: logger32 rbn
Hi Hamalert.org is a nice feature who can do the filtering for u. It can grab you stats from clublog and filter your telnet connection based on that. Den 7 maj 2025 00:22 skrev "ZL2iFB via groups.io" <zl2ifb@...>:

Re: logger32 rbn
Hi Neil. The table on page 355 shows for RBN.? By all means connect directly to RBN to give?it a go ... provided you are ready for the veritable tsunami of robotic?spots, most of which are essentially duplicate spots of the same DX station by different robots e.g. here's part of a minute's worth: That's really not very useful, especially without filtering down to the few DXstations I'm interested in (i.e. 10m CW this year).???Logger32 has a tough time processing the tsunami, and the don't even try it if you have a slow/costly Internet connection.? A better option is that some (most?) DXclusters?offer RBN/Skimmer/robotic spots, either on the same port as the manual/human spots (perhaps enabled or disabled with a command) or on a separate port. These may be partially de-duped and sanitised by the DXcluster, depending on how the SysOp has set things up.? You'll have to hunt around on the Web for info from the DXclusters, of which there are hundreds. Better still, VE7CC's "CC User" program makes it easy to fiddle with the filters and turn Skimmer/robotic spots on or off at each cluster.? See section 13.9 in the manual for details. I'm not sure what you mean by "The manual page 304 section 13.7 doesn't tie up with the tabs on Logger32.": do you mean the Cluster window tab names?? If so, see page 294, the start of chapter 13.? The first screenshot there shows the default tab names, with a note:?"Once it
is connected to DX cluster, a tab takes on the cluster name ..." so a tab that sets out with the name "Telnet" will change to, say, "AE5E" once you connect via Telnet through that tab to AE5E's DXcluster node.? 73 Gary? ?beater/tester &? Re: soemtimes Flex (SmartSDR) and logger lose each other
Is it possible that you have the polling set too fast. On the Logger32 radio config, set polling to 200ms, the slowly decrease it 10ms at a time until oyu will reach a point where the connection becomes unreliable. it is now polling too fast.? Add 20ms, and you should be about there.
?
There are several FlexRadio?users on this reflector, Hopefully they will share their settings?with you..
