Two questions: Did you know that if you're not ADS-B Out equipped and you contact rule airspace (Class B or C for example) ATC (approach, regional, tower, center, etc.) to request flight into, out of, or through such airspace, they'll allow it, no questions asked? If you fly through this airspace, did you just violate 14CFR91.225? The answer is "Yes". The FAA published a Policy Statement into the Federal Register in April of 2019. It essentially states the only allowed process to gain an authorization to fly in this airspace (if you're not Out equipped) is to use the ADAPT online request between 1 and 24 hours in advance. The key statement is that an ATC clearance is not an authorization. You can the policy statement here: The only question is...is the monitoring FAA body enforcing the rule?
Primary point: Don't be of the camp that thinks that ATC controller instructions give you a pass to the ADS-B Out reg 91.225. (There are abnormal situations that allow this like weather...read the policy statement).

[The Pulse of Aviation] Flipping the script
We were talking about Seabees this week .. and lo and behold this article comes up about a twin bee that used to live in NC .. ? ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: General Aviation News <news@...>Date: Wed, Jan 29, 2020 at 7:17 AM Subject: [The Pulse of Aviation] Flipping the script To: Friend < alex.nelon@...>
FAA doesn¡¯t have a plan for drone data
Hi?Friend... The Pulse of Aviation for?01/29/2020. Enjoy.

Thomas Hines submitted this photo and note: "One of the few TwinBees still flying, UC-1. I believe there are about six still airworthy. My wife and I picked it up for the owner and flew it from North Carolina to upstate New York. There were no experienced instructors available, so I checked myself out and found it to be a very different airplane, locking tailwheel, STOL and amphibious. I¡¯m now CFI in it."?Submit a photo for?.

Building an aircraft doesn¡¯t have to be difficult. There will be challenges, sure. But help is always available.
The report also found that the FAA isn't sharing the data it has collected.
All of the university's Aviation and Transportation students will use the MD-80 at some point in their studies.
Pilots will learn what to expect in their upcoming flight review.
Probable cause: The pilot¡¯s diverted attention to his phone while maneuvering at a low altitude, which resulted in collision with terrain.?

Hi Alex.? I went to Sebring and got a demo ride in this AutoGyro MTO Sport and I¡¯m considering getting one. My question to you is do you know anyone at 0A7 that might have hanger space? 6¡¯ wide, 28¡¯ long.? Not urgent, just wondering. Thanks,?

Re: I hope FAA is at 0A7 on Monday morning
One can only hope. The FAA is supposed to, among other things, promote general aviation. They need reminders

I read the same article and didn¡¯t find anything to comfort me.? Afterward, I talked to Avemco,, still an independent insurance company that underwrites their own policies, and received a quote that was $1k more than Gallagher. The reinsurance market seems to be driving their rate. The underwriter I talked to was sympathetic and a nice guy I talked to 3 years ago ... I could hear sympathy coming through the phone, but the realized that was the recorded menu option tree.?
Still on the quest for a fair quote.?

I have Leo¡¯s decals for his airplane .. it¡¯s just Loon flying solo .. no
Fairweather Flyers.? - a set is 2 decals facing 2 ways so he can fly into
the wind on each side of your airplane. $11/set. The supplier (FastSigns in
Asheville) has a minimum charge of $50+tax so nobody is making any side money.
The images are on file at FastSigns and can be ordered any time but the minimum
applies for each order.
Our license is just for our group¡¯s use. It can¡¯t be assigned or sold for
use outside our group.

I left something out of the post .. I have 4 sets available from this batch. The minimum charge covered 5 sets.?

Here is the latest version of our logo. There are a couple of changes that need to be made to comply with the trademark requirements along with changing the asphalt runway from purple to black but all in all it looks ok to me given the size constraints for hats. Please chime in. What do you think?

I put in an order for hats and submitted our logo design. I wasn¡¯t sure the company (Queensboro, at Wilmington NC) could replicate the logo in the space available on a hat and sure enough they couldn¡¯t. They came back with the attached and I turned it down. As a compromise, I asked if they could do the Loon and runways with the name of the group across the bottom and that might work. Colors need editing, too. They¡¯re going to revise and send and I will share with you when I get it - likely tomorrow. The hats are cheap - about $7 - and we¡¯ll have a few for newbies. On that score, please feel free to share invites with like minded folk.?
