about my A1G fleet
Edward Bridges
I am sorry that I haven't been very active with my A1G accumulation
much this year. I still owe some pictures to a couple of fellows for their web sites of cars in my accumulation. I haven't forgotten you, just haven't had any time to get the digital camera to do them. I hope to complete my A1G accumulation in 2005. I do have some extra cars that I may sell or trade for cars I need. Hope everyone has a good holiday. Edward Bridges A1G accumulator |
A1G Indiana Harbor Belt 0-8-0
Rick Will
Boy,
Did I have a unexpected but pleaseant surprise this past Saturday. My good friend Sal Galazzo who works down at The Freight Yard (A N Scale Specialty Store) said that he had something he wanted to give me and presented me with a A1G Indiana Harbor Belt 0-8-0 in mint condition. He told me all he had done to it was taken it apart to clean the mechanism and relubed it. Like a kid in a toy store, I had to try it out. For something that's all most as old as I am, this little yard switcher runs pretty darn good!. This is still in it's orginal plastic Atlas case with it's original white insert dated for 3-68. The thing that I kind of find funny about myself is that back when I first got into N scale till now, I've always been a diesel person. But lately, it seems that I got a growing interest in steam locos. By the time I discovered trains when I was young, steam was already gone. Though now I understand why all the older modelers before me enjoyed steam so much. It's all those moving mechanical parts on the outside that you don't get with diesels. Rick Merry Christmas to everyone here at the A1G yahoogroup! |
Re: Newest Member Looking For 2 Northern Pacific 86' Pig Palace Cars!
coerhistorian
I am searching high and low for a couple of the Northern Pacific86' Pig Palace cars. I have one spare car here I would be willing to part with, but I paid quite a bit for it. It is essentially MIB. Email me if your interested in this car. I do have some other A1G cars as well that are extra and also have some parts for cars. Edward Bridges A1G accumulator Granger, TX |
Newest Member Looking For 2 Northern Pacific 86' Pig Palace Cars!
Greetings to the A1G Gang!
I started in 'N' with the classic Santa Fe Fairbanks Morse Freight set received at Christmas 1969. I lived near both the Great Northern and Northern Pacific mainlines and so my first allowance went to purchasing the GN "Loader Scheme" boxcar. I have been in and out of both HO and N in the past 35 years and I have always kept an eye out for the early N items, from Atlas, MRC and Con Cor. My modeling interests are of those days and I am searching high and low for a couple of the Northern Pacific 86' Pig Palace cars. Anybody out there willing to part with a couple or willing to point me in a good direction ? (other than eBay) Besides this request I look forward to reading past communications and being part of the group! Jeff Sauer _jeffandkaty@... (mailto:jeffandkaty@...) |

Plugging the hobby on the radio in Rochester NY
umtrr
Hi all... I know most of you won't be able to hear this, but just in
case... I am scheduled to appear on a local radio talk show this Friday the 12th at approximately 8:40 AM to be interviewed about the World's Greatest Hobby of Model Railroading. This is in conjunction with "Take Your Train to Work Day" which is part of the overall National Model Railroading Month. The station is WROC NewsTalk 950 (950 AM) here in Rochester, New York and the show is "FirstTalk with Allan Harris." Unfortunately it appears that they do not do a live web simulcast, wouldn't that have been nice. Then you'd be able to listen in as I risk my reputation yet again... Cheers, Your list-owner |
Odd atlas engine acquired
coerhistorian
Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but I recently purchased an
Atlas FA-1 (I know its newer than the A1G, but figured someone might be able to help in this group). It is in regular Atlas packaging, but the stock number is a bit of a mystery. It is Atlas stock number #B-103, Baltimore & Ohio. This engine is basically MINT, never run and no wear whatsoever on the wheels. It is really nice. Anyone have any idea why these engines had such odd stock numbers? How many different engines comprised this series? Any help would be appreciated. I am accumulating the entire A1G, with some more later Atlas stuff, mainly locomotives (basically up to right before the Kato RS-3 came out). I am about 98% of the way done with freight cars, 45% with motive power and 35% with passenger cars. Edward Bridges |
WANTED: FM dummy engines in original boxes
Edward Bridges
I am looking to acquire two Atlas FM-C liner dummy units to add to my
accumulation. I am in need of #2133, the Milwaukeee Road and #2135, the Southern Pacific. I am only missing these two in having a complete set of all five powered and dummy engines. Only interested in dummy engines in their original boxes with original couplers if possible at a fair price. Thanks, Edward Bridges Atlas A1G accumulator |
2347 Suburban Propane "error" image posted
umtrr
Hi all--
Stole a few minutes to put up an image of the 2347 Suburban Propane jumbo tank car with the logo missing. I found it at the Greenberg Show in Chantilly earlier this month. As I note on the revised jumbo tank car page, where the image can be had, I think this is more of a curiosity than anything else. I don't try to value it either. I should check the archives to see if this particular car has been discussed before; I'm pretty sure it has and that one other of the gang owns one. In other news, I bit the bullet to increase the storage space for the overall irwinsjournal.com domain by 10x, to 200MB, so there will be space for more images, even if there isn't the time right now to get them out there. (Although I did finally get new pictures of the kids up to a redesigned "Photo Section" area of the site.) Cheers, George (your webmaster, etc.) |
Re: Recent finds added to my accumulation

That's right, convert it Back to the Original Rapidos!!! That'sthe spirit! Yep, got to get the M-T coupler into something I actaully run (I for one do not run my A1G stuff [my girlfreind calles me a collector, but I disagree as I buy a derilect and restore it if possible]). I am only missing a handful of freight cars now. If you have any of these you are willing to sell (preferably in their original boxes) contact me: 2201b 2224a 2224b 2241b 2264b 2267 2271a 2271b 2281a 2281b 2281c 2302b 2364 2372 2381a 2392 2394 2395 2413 2415 2417 2423 2424 2435c 3002 3011 3012 3024 This is all I lack in the frieght car area. As always, looking for these (I have some cars I am willing to trade for these). Edward Bridges |
Re: Recent finds added to my accumulation
George Irwin
Edward, this is all great stuff, but the one particular item that really made me smile was:
2174 PC GP40 (been coverted to kadee couplers, an easy fix) That's right, convert it Back to the Original Rapidos!!! That's the spirit! ---- Meanwhile, I did pick up exactly one item relevant to the group at the National N Scale Convention, specifically at the Greenberg show. It's the Suburban Propane jumbo tank car (2347) with the Surburban Propane trademark missing on one side of the car. I believe that someone (Doug? Edward?) has brought up this particular "error" item before. It was worth the ten bucks (plus tax-- everyone at Greenberg collected sales tax) to get this novelty into the accumulation. I hope to add a scan of it without too much of a delay. There were other A1G items out there, with prices ranging all over the board. Many were new in box looking, some, well, weren't. Cheers, George (Your moderator/listowner etc.) |
Recent finds added to my accumulation
Edward Bridges
I have been on a locomotive spree lately. I recently picked up
several almost MIB A1G locomotives as well as a couple of A2G engines. Those recent A1G additions are: 2141 ATSF SD45 (some handrails missing, otherwise in great shape) 2142 GM Demo SD45 2143 CB&Q SD45 2152 Monon RSC-2 2153 EL RSC-2 (blue cradle crumbling but engine is almost mint) 2171 ATSF GP40 (bad handrails, otherwise good shape) 2174 PC GP40 (been coverted to kadee couplers, an easy fix) and for the gems (all three MIB): 4004 UP SW1500 cow 4005 CB&Q SW1500 cow 4011 ATSF SW1500 calf I picked most of this stuff up off the internet auctions as well as a few swap meets. I do have some surplus A1G stuff, but not any extra motive power as of yet. Doug, I haven't forgotten you. I owe you some digital images of several locomotives for your site. I will try to work on those. I also have some digital images I need to make for George for his site as well. So much to do, not enough time to do it all...story of my life! Edward Bridges Granger, TX (didn't make the trip to Illinois after all) |
WANTED: Insert packaging
Edward Bridges
I am looking for an insert for the packaging for the A1G single dome
tank car #2266, Hooker Chemicals. I have the complete car and box with nest, just need the white cardboard/paper insert. Willing to purchase said item or trade some of my extra stuff for it. Edward Bridges Granger, TX |
New page on my site
Hi everybody,
I have added a page on my site that lists the A1G locomotives that were available in parts of the world other than North America. It is basically just a list with images as I don't have any of these locos. At least it's something though. Of course, I welcome any additions or corrections. www.members.aol.com/dgosha/AtlasWorldLocos.html Regards, Doug |
I'm back
Edward Bridges
After a hiatus from accumulating A1G equipment, I am back in the
swing of things. I am still in Texas and looking for more equipment to add to my growing accumulation. I am now concentrating on A1G motive power since I have almost every freight car (about 96% of them with 80% of those MIB). I have recently seen several good quality A1G locomotives on the internet for sale, but the pocketbook opens only so far. I hope to get digital images of the variations I have found that are not covered in George Irwin's site with images. I have several. I also have some motive power to add to Doug Gosha's site that he is missing. Now that things have settled fdown here I can get back into the hobby again. Look for more on these variations on the Irwin site once I get the images to him for use. Edward Bridges |
