A1G Indiana Harbor Belt 0-8-0

Rick Will

Boy,
Did I have a unexpected but pleaseant surprise this past Saturday. My good friend Sal Galazzo who works down at The Freight Yard (A N Scale Specialty Store) said that he had something he wanted to give me and presented me with a A1G Indiana Harbor Belt 0-8-0 in mint condition. He told me all he had done to it was taken it apart to clean the mechanism and relubed it. Like a kid in a toy store, I had to try it out. For something that's all most as old as I am, this little yard switcher runs pretty darn good!. This is still in it's orginal plastic Atlas case with it's original white insert dated for 3-68. The thing that I kind of find funny about myself is that back when I first got into N scale till now, I've always been a diesel person. But lately, it seems that I got a growing interest in steam locos. By the time I discovered trains when I was young, steam was already gone. Though now I understand why all the older modelers before me enjoyed steam so much. It's all those moving mechanical parts on the outside that you don't get with diesels.
