How did you manage that, Lin? The photo isn't showing for me.
Is there a burial that corresponds to the inscription for Ann/Aitit? Since there may be several of us who have access to burial info but can't see the image, please could you give us the date of death and the surname to look for? |

Re: Unusual First Name
There is an Ann Cooper baptised 17 June 1853, parents Richard & Doroth, buried 23 June 1853. But (in my defence) I could not see any diagonal lines for the "N"s, but there obviously were particularly when you compare it with the "N" in JUNE.
Thanks for everyone's help. BobH |

If he died after 1837, probably the only way to get at least a decent estimation of his age at death would be on the death registration.? The GRO are now offering instant digital images of births up to 1922 and deaths up to 1887 for ?2.50, so probably worth a punt on finding the right death.? You'll need to sign in, then go to 'Order a digital image' Lesley On 07/07/2023 10:37, Maureen Farrer wrote:

Births 1837 to 1922 and deaths 1837 to 1887 I presume (hope) they will expand the deaths once the initial rush has settled down Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 08/07/2023 23:13, Diane wrote:

Perhaps something can be found in the baptisms or burials for Hampsthwaite Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 07/07/2023 10:33, Bob Hunter wrote:
I recently had the opportunity of visiting the Church in Hampsthwaite and found the grave of the father and mother-in-law of a 2nd great aunt.? This listed a number of grand children (children of my aunt) who had died in their infancy and who were new to me. There were/are two *Elizas*, an *Alice* and another called *Aitit* (I think). I've not come across this name before, is it that unusual? Am I right in my transcription? Is it an abbreviation, what does it mean? Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts? Its interesting that the name was clearly carved at a different time to the rest of the stone, suggesting that even the mason wasn't sure of it. |

Re: Any ideas about age difference in marriage?
Orinally I? thought Ann might have worked on the farm but I think? it more likely that she worked as his housekeeper which is why she was living in Kirk Bramwith as mentioned in the? marriage? bond. It would have been a marriage of? convenience. I feel? happier with that explanation rather than my original thought that she had got into trouble! Yes have tried all your suggestions. I have written to St. Margarets Church, but have had no reply. I realise after all this time, there wouldn’t be anything left on the headstones, but would like to see if I could find records. I have a record of their burial from Find My Past, but trying to find how old David was when he died as trying to find his birth. Dont have his parents. I have his marriage and it was in Guiseley and says both of this parish, so I assume he was born somewhere else as cant find any birth in Guiseley records for him. Maureen in Oz.
