Hello to all This is a quick note to let everyone know that the program for July will be an update on the Welfare Messaging System along with a look back on Summer Field Day 2024 (along with what we need to do for future Field Days). Field Day was great fun and wish everyone could have been able to attend - great comradery and got to see the club trailer for the first time. Pretty darn neat. Don't forget - the monthly meeting is this Thursday at the SAR Building in Bozeman with the business meeting starting at 1900 MDT. Since most of our club members are here on the reflector, we need to discuss before the next meeting (7/11/24) so decisions can be made and voted on during the meeting. In the last several months two topics have been mentioned by club members as to activities and direction of the club. One being the Welfare Messaging System and two is increasing club membership with community outreach programs (Boyscouts being the most logical beginner step). There are at least 3 different club members who have written grants before so I think we could get this done by the soon approaching grant deadline. Mark(KU7O) and Eric(KE7NLU) have started the process setting up their individual radio systems to be able to do Welfare Messaging System. A living document with the 'recipes' needs to be documented for each set-up. So as new hams come aboard and want to participate in the Welfare Messaging System, the club will have the documents to help each individual with their individual radio system. I will be asking Mark and Eric to document their individual process with a parts list. We have Robin(KJ7VVO), Sue(KK7RYG), and Carolynn(KF7YUS) interested in the Welfare Messaging System so far. If any others are interested in learning and helping with the Welfare Messaging System, please email me your name and what radio you plan to use for the WMS. A windows PC will be needed as well. To recap: Who is interested? What radio would you plan to use for the Welfare Messaging System? Again, discussion needs to happen this week-before the club meeting so actions can be voted on at the club meeting to meet the deadline for grant submission. de KK7CJV Stacy
