Re: Subject Line

Hi,

I was not suggesting using the website. (I use it only 5% of the time.)

The snippet I attached is on bottom of each email. Hope I am being clear. Will try again tomorrow...

Re: Subject Line

Hello Irene, I am sorry. It has been very busy here with approving new members and all of that types of things. I'm aware that the subject line still says welcome everyone. You should've seen a new message posted earlier that said paratransit when I'm not so busy, I will try and get a group of us together, and we will be able to compile some rules as I want the members to be involved in setting the boundaries yes I started the group, but first things first was I wanted to get members established to the group before setting boundaries. Because I don't want to run anyone off.

Hi J I definitely agree with you whenever it comes to paratransit. Oh and when changing the subject line, I don't want to be harsh and I don't want to have to constantly ask. But can we start new messages please it makes it easier for people that read in threaded view. Like myself whenever I am on my Mac. Which I currently am on my Mac and I am mainly on my Mac all the time anyway. And as far as going on a rant, you can go on a rant as much as you like here. As long as it's not bashing a company.,

Re: Paratransit

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi, Jake,

?

I used to work as a subcontracted ADA co-facilitator with Pierce County¡¯s ParaTransit, called Shuttle years ago, before retiring, and am now on the Skagit Transit¡¯s advisory committee.

?

Fortunately, both counties¡¯ ParaTransit is stellar in what they do and how they coordinate.? I understand this isn¡¯t so in other communities.

?

What I can tell you is that what seems to be happening is that the ParaTransit riders are increasing year by year, and that the rides cost each company several times the amount of money a ride on a fixed route would cost.

?

Under the ADA, the ParaTransit route service area needs to cover a minimum of three quarters mile outside the fixed-route service area, but can cover a max of a mile and a half outside the fixed-route service area.? Most providers stick with the three quarter mile, since that means less money out, fewer buses to need to purchase, fewer drivers, and so on.

?

Some transit authorities subcontract with an outside bus company to pick up the extra Para traffic.

?

But, in short, what happens is that companies need a much larger budget to run ParaTransit than many of them have.? I believe the reason behind this is that, although these companies have boards, usually consisting of county commissioners and mayors, or a mix of city and county officials, these are people who drive and haven¡¯t internalized what it really is to need a ParaTransit system.

?

A lot of how good a company is may depend on money available for their budget, and whether they are city-only or a county service, and if they are city-only, how well they have logistics in place to connect with the county.

?

I believe it is imperative for anyone riding ParaTransit to get on their transit authority¡¯s aadvisory body, and be a proactive voice for improvement.? Even the good systems need continual input from the disabled community, and for the ridership to gain an understanding of the issues facing their transit authority.? We all need to become part of the solution.? I understand your rant, and that¡¯s where an awareness of a problem begins, but it is only the beginning.? Ranting about individual rides won¡¯t help, they just point up the bigger issues of awareness and budget, and it is vitally important to show up at city and county meetings, or board meetings where there is public comment, and speak to the budget and service, and only use the individual experience as a sample, and not concentrate on that.

?

Hi, indeed there is. Uber has a website that you can use on the computer.
And there's also something called go go grandparent which I don't know if
they serve Canada or not but I would be glad to check and they use Uber I
think. You call gogo grandparent over the telephone.

It would be great if I could find someone in my area that would drive me around for a flat fee I hate using Uber and Lyft because it¡¯s so expensive but I¡¯ll do it because I¡¯m desperate and I can¡¯t just not have a life I have to get out somehow But it still sucks and we do have a door to door service in my area but it doesn¡¯t run on the weekends and you can¡¯t go outside at Butler County with it Which is the current county that I live in

I've arrived at this conclusion based on my own experiences with the local system, and also based on what I've heard from friends/family and read from acquaintances and in a few books on disability history. I've heard time and again that everything and everyone has their issues, and this is a true statement. But I firmly believe that something that is nationwide shouldn't have this many issues. Furthermore, it seems to me that these issues--or most of them--are not being resolved in a timely fashion if at all. I realize I'm being rather blunt here, but this is and has been an issue that really pushes my hot buttons. I published a rant about it over on my journal. But there was a guy here in my city who drove people around for a flat fee. I think he has since retired, but I also heard from someone that he is still driving. I rode with him a few times, and was very impressed.

Wow I¡¯m glad I¡¯m not the only one man that has experience that issue with having bands in the UberX area. Oh and foreign languages, there was a one time, when I had requested a ride for my ex to go home from church and I had called the driver and told him that I had requested the ride but it would be a different lady that was writing. And he spoke broken up English whenever I have called him. But she called me when she got home and it worked out well.

Oh yes I definitely agree with you on that in some cases. That sometimes they don¡¯t pick out the best produce. However, when we did use the online grocery, we did get some pretty good produce. Occasionally my grandma will place an order online as that¡¯s how my mom wants her to do it and she¡¯ll get some produce stuff And it¡¯s still pretty good. But I guess Walmart has been doing it long enough that they know that they need to pick up good stuff.

We were going somewhere in Sedro Woolley, and he wanted to make up the driving difference from Mt. Vernon.

Either he was just starting out, very poor, but it showed me he didn't want to hustle.

Our daughter used to be a cab driver years ago, and she developed a following of people who would only ride with her. That ride that gets refused, you never know what tip you are missing out on, or what word-of-mouth you could get, if you don't put in the effort.

Well that's good for you I'm glad that you gave him a low rating. It probably taught him a lesson.

Our daughter used to be a cab driver years ago, and she developed a following of people who would only ride with her. That ride that gets refused, you never know what tip you are missing out on, or what word-of-mouth you could get, if you don't put in the effort.

Hi, indeed there is. Uber has a website that you can use on the computer.
And there's also something called go go grandparent which I don't know if
they serve Canada or not but I would be glad to check and they use Uber I
think. You call gogo grandparent over the telephone.

Hi, indeed there is. Uber has a website that you can use on the computer.

And there's also something called go go grandparent which I don't know if

they serve Canada or not but I would be glad to check and they use Uber I

think. You call gogo grandparent over the telephone.

Hello everyone, we have had a serious growing amount of members and I

wanted

to take the time to welcome everyone. The reason why am posting, is

because

somebody said that the group has some issues. And they've tried to post to

the group so I'm going to see if this post goes through.
