Re: Substituting Uno for Nano on Forty-9er VFO
Got the encoder working, didn't have it hooked up correctly. Cool! Now I just need to transfer the design to the perfboard shield and get to work on the Forty-9er.

Re: Substituting Uno for Nano on Forty-9er VFO
Success! My LCD is working now, I only had to change the address to 0x3f, but for some reason turning the encoder only changes the frequency steps. If I click the encoder, sometimes it will change

Re: Substituting Uno for Nano on Forty-9er VFO
Hi Jim: It's more likely that you may not be using the same I2C library. There are a number of I2C LCD libraries, but only one works correctly for me. I've attached the latest version of the VFO

Substituting Uno for Nano on Forty-9er VFO
I've been bread boarding the VFO "kit" using an Uno instead of the Nano, based on the 7808 v. 1 schematic, and I've been able to load the sketch and power the unit on, but my I2C display isn't

Kit worked great until...
Built the kit and powered it up with the boards and wires scattered across the workspace... Works surprisingly well.. Purchased a nice weather proof cabinet with clear top, which i use as the front.

Well call it a rookie mistake but the 386 chip was inserted reversed. I think Mr. Murphy did it. Certainly it could not have been me. I have perfect vision. I onkly keyed the rig once or twice for a

Feedback Squeal
I checked my wiring point to point as best I could. I inspected each joint for cold solders and found none. I scoped the output of the VFO at J2 and J3 for a perfect sign wave. And I ran the out put

Download ltspice.pdf from the files section to follow along. I'm exploring the possibility of modifying the Forty-9er for use on other bands. Particularly 30m and 20m. As I see it there are two places

Bob: I checked the schematic and the L3 inductor which is a FT37-43 has 11 turns, and L4 which is a T37-2 gets 16 turns. In my 49er kits, the L3 inductor is Green and the L4 inductor is Red. The
