Speedseal and 1GM10
I know that this question is not S2 27 specific, but does anyone in the group have a Speedseal (or Speedseal Life) installed on their 1GM10? How easily do those knurled nuts fit under the flywheel?

Re: Does any trailer their 27?
Just an update to my trailer quest -- Sailtrailers.com (Columbus, GA) had a used 2011 turn up that will be suitable for the 27. I picked it up for $2,700, and he added a launch wheel and a front

Re: Rubber Engine Mounts
When I took my 1GM10 out last winter I unbolted the mounts from the boat rather than struggle with the locking nuts. I can't visualize a way to replace the mounts one at a time without lifting the

Re: Rubber Engine Mounts
Great videos, Rick. Thanks. My engine doesn't shimmy quite as much as your at idle. So, is it possible to replace each rubber foot one at a time, without disconnecting the shaft or otherwise messing

Re: Folding prop sizes / pitch for inboard model
bob, good point on the shaft taper... mark, i have a martec 13x8 folding prop. my view is that the s2 has a woefully underpowered motor...really needs a 2gm10...the martec is ok, but gets fouled

Re: Folding prop sizes / pitch for inboard model
Hi Mark, I would suspect that the 7/8" bore prop will be a pain to deal with since the shafts are tapered. Making a bushing with inside and outside tapers and a key way is pretty tricky and probably

Folding prop sizes / pitch for inboard model
Hi all, I'm looking at a folding prop for my boat, there are a couple good deals on ebay. My prop shaft is 3/4 and Martec recommended a 12 X 8 prop. There is a 12 X 8 on there but it has a 7/8 shaft

Re: Rubber Engine Mounts
I have no direct experience with this but have had three different GM series Yanmars. I think the main issue when it comes to replacement is going to be noticeable vibration. But it stands to reason

Re: Rubber Engine Mounts

Rubber Engine Mounts
So, after clearing yesterday's 8" snowfall from my sidewalk today, I starting thinking about the upcoming sailing season. One question that came to mind...How do you know when the black rubber engine

Re: Does any trailer their 27?
Jim -- this is great info! Which lake are you on? There's a slight chance I could end up at Fort Hood or Fort Sam Houston after I get done with my class in El Paso. I'm still waiting on some quotes

Re: Does any trailer their 27?
I have a trailer I use with my boat. I had to make it myself from a power boat trailer as used sailboat trailers are very expensive . I can launch and retreive using float on off method when we have

Re: Does any trailer their 27?
That's an option I'm looking into as well. The hard part is that there are no lifts on the New Mexico end, so it has to be a company that can float off. Those are harder to find, especially to haul

Re: Does any trailer their 27?
Mark, have you looked into what a shipping company would charge-a good one that uses a specality hydraulic lift that takes the weight off the keel? There is no demand off season and it might be

Re: Does any trailer their 27?
mark, i have not trailered, but Triad (which is based not too far fom where I live in Connecticut) has a very solid reputation, and does a volume business making trailers. that price sound not too far

Does any trailer their 27?
Happy new year all! I'm moving from VA to Texas this year (for a one year military school) and am weighing my options as to whether I will move the boat or just leave it at a yard here in VA and then

Re: Where do you put your hatch boards?
I just posted pics of the refinished hatchboards in the photo section. I think it was 5-6 coats, mostly I just wanted to show the color of the natural teak cetol. Definitely still some pigment but I

Re: Where do you put your hatch boards?
I admit to abusing my hatch boards. They go under the port side settee, on the floor, or in the V berth and get moved, dropped, stacked, slid, as the circumstances go. 2 years ago I coated them with a
