Mark, have you looked into what a shipping company would charge-a good one that uses a specality hydraulic lift that takes the weight off the keel? There is no demand off season and it might be reasonable. Worth a try at least. Safer, easier on you and the boat. When I sold my J-24 for the S2,?both a broker and a prospective buyer wanted a boat that had not been trailered very much so as to reduce the chances of damage to the keel?. The swaying back and forth was thought to cause cracks or other damage. Allen.

?
Happy new year all! I'm moving from VA to Texas this year (for a one year military school) and am weighing my options as to whether I will move the boat or just leave it at a yard here in VA and then ship it to wherever I go next.
I've gotten a couple quotes on trailers: says $4350 for a 10,000 lb GVWR trailer, Triad Trailers is saying $5350 for something similar. Those are the best I've found (sailtrailers said that a 7500 GVWR lb trailer would be iffy for the weight fo the boat).
So I was curious if any of you have trailered this boat, what you think, thoughts on the trailer prices, etc.
If it goes with me, it will be going to Elephant Butte Lake in New Mexico. All of my sailing has been East coast, so that place looks like sailing on the moon, which would be sort of neat. But if it stays the hull will get a year to dry out on the hard, which wouldn't be a
bad thing either. -Mark
