Frank,
That's it, rub it in... my thoughts are turning to scrounging up a set of heatable grips because I can't bear the thought of moth-balling the ess for 4 months. Re: 1975 MSRP
Hi Bruce
I looked at my certificate of title from Ohio and i payed $3597.50 +143.00 tax in January 1975.and i still have my R90S with 90,000 miles on it . In my opinion the asking price is a little high. in january 76 the price went up to $4000. Ken . National R90S Sport Owners Club , Treasurer |

BMW R90s International Register
It is not easy to write the following:
In May 2, 1994 I started the BMW R90S International Register. I was extremely pleased to see it grow in numbers. I was estatic when through word of mouth I received the first member from overseas. In May 1996 I had a breakdown when I caught my wife to be in bed with someone else. I strongly believe that motorcycling and the Register kept me going. In June 1997 as part of the healing process I toured America meeting Register owners. It was a trip that I'll never forget meeting such riders as Rick Griffiths. Thanks Rick. In May 2000 my business collapsed resulting in being financially wiped out. I had no choice but to declared bankruptcy. From a fully owned house, 3 BMW's (1987 K100RS, 1976 R90S and a 1956 R26) and a car I was left with practically nothing. Under Australian Bankruptcy Act I'm not allowed to own more than 1 vehicle. All the bikes had to be sold. (Thankfully the new owners understand my situation and let me have access to the bikes. I'm allowed to buy the bikes back after 3 years) From July 1, I became unemployed, owned a 13 year old car, a Hi-Fi system, my old computer and a TV. I lost all my life savings leaving me with a total amount of $174.00. I was placed on medication due to stress. I have been fortunate to find employment. From a (House building) Company Director I now spend 9 hours a day testing, cleaning and re- labeling car batteries. Currently the biggest battle is not to lose the house. This time the Register is not going to keep me going. I can't afford to keep it running. The cost of postage of the newsletter or the Annual Report to 150 members from 14 countries is equal to a month of groceries or a household payment. Since I don't want to see it fall by the wayside, I have no choice but to place the Register on the open market and sell it. This was not an easy decision, I have been debating this action for the last 2 months. Naturally I prefer to see it go to a R90S member but as a begger I can't be a chooser. I promise you this, whoever buys it will be richly rewarded making contact with so many R90S owners around the world. |

Frog Report
greeting from the old world...
The Nov. issue of the French "old bike mag" MOTO LEGENDE reports that Tamiya has reissued several out of production model kits including the R75/5 and R90/S. There is also a "new" book mentioned (which might already exist in English, I don't know) called "All BMW Models Since 1945" by J. Leek / ETAI publishing. Lastly in the classifieds, for about 300 bucks you can pick up a set of forks, ft. wheel w/ disks, 2 HT coils, rear frame section, new gearbox bearings, etc. Kirk _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at . newsletter editor for the local BMW club here in Detroit, (BMW Touring Club of Detroit), I can tell you that a lot of work goes into it. Troy, I got the flywheel from Bob's BMW in Maryland. I still have the stock unit, and didn't want to cut into that one. So far, the shifting is much better than stock. There's a fine line in restoring and riding and older bike. Do I keep it totally stock or add some improvements that will allow me to ride it and enjoy it more. For me, the light flywheel was an acceptable option. Plus, its on the inside where nobody else knows its there! I think you're really going to enjoy Reg's class. Him and his instructors put a lot into it, and by the end of the day, you're mentally exhausted, but you'll ride away with an enormous amount of confidence in your abilities. Re: Newsletter
Troy Nicks
Couple thoughts about the fall issue club newsletter which I thoroughly
enjoyed. Thanks to everyone who contributed, especially Rick and Ken. Way to go, Ken, on taking first overall at the RA rally. Also, thanks for writing up your European tour. I suspect there are many like me who hope to do that some day. Rick, I was really interested in your track day report. I'm taking a CLASS course next summer at their new east coast location, Virginia International Raceway, which is about an hour and a half from me. I'd been planning to do it on my Triumph Sprint, but you've inspired me to ride my "S" instead. I suppose if you can be smooth with brakes, throttle and shifting on our "S" bikes, you can be smooth on anything !! Where'd you get your lightened flywheel? Kirk, keep that info about the Euro scene coming. Many of us in the States are really interested in our bro's abroad, and we hear far too little from them. I think we've got a neat club and list going here. We'll have to plot some nifty get-togethers for next year. Troy |

recharge the batteries, so to speak. 3 months to play in the garage, without intrusion from the wife. (its always too cold for them!) My annual rite of spring is the first "fire-up" of my S. Lets me know warm weather is around the corner. Sort of like when Ernie Harwell (Detroit Tigers radio broadcaster) reads his poem (the Turtle) on the first day of Spring training. Its tradition. Fire up the S and wait for the oncoming sunny days. Actually, I wait until the end of November before winterizing mine as there might be a break here and there to go riding.
