It is not easy to write the following:
In May 2, 1994 I started the BMW R90S International Register. I was
extremely pleased to see it grow in numbers. I was estatic when
through word of mouth I received the first member from overseas.
In May 1996 I had a breakdown when I caught my wife to be in bed with
someone else. I strongly believe that motorcycling and the Register
kept me going.
In June 1997 as part of the healing process I toured America meeting
Register owners. It was a trip that I'll never forget meeting such
riders as Rick Griffiths. Thanks Rick.
In May 2000 my business collapsed resulting in being financially
wiped out. I had no choice but to declared bankruptcy. From a fully
owned house, 3 BMW's (1987 K100RS, 1976 R90S and a 1956 R26) and a
car I was left with practically nothing. Under Australian Bankruptcy
Act I'm not allowed to own more than 1 vehicle. All the bikes had to
be sold. (Thankfully the new owners understand my situation and let
me have access to the bikes. I'm allowed to buy the bikes back after
3 years)
From July 1, I became unemployed, owned a 13 year old car, a Hi-Fi
system, my old computer and a TV. I lost all my life savings leaving
me with a total amount of $174.00.
I was placed on medication due to stress.
I have been fortunate to find employment. From a (House building)
Company Director I now spend 9 hours a day testing, cleaning and re-
labeling car batteries. Currently the biggest battle is not to lose
the house.
This time the Register is not going to keep me going. I can't afford
to keep it running. The cost of postage of the newsletter or the
Annual Report to 150 members from 14 countries is equal to a month of
groceries or a household payment.
Since I don't want to see it fall by the wayside, I have no choice
but to place the Register on the open market and sell it. This was
not an easy decision, I have been debating this action for the last 2
months.
Naturally I prefer to see it go to a R90S member but as a begger I
can't be a chooser.
I promise you this, whoever buys it will be richly rewarded making
contact with so many R90S owners around the world.
