So the DO fender has a different part number than the SS fender? On Tue, Feb 9, 2021, 12:27 PM rah1963_2002 <rahnz@...> wrote:

Re: Looking for Front Fender
Hi Dennis No rush. I totally understand not wanting to drive in crappy weather! The number is cast into the underside of the fender right where the metal mount goes. If you have one and can spare it, that would be great. Richard.

You're right about the color match. I am planning to have my bodywork set repainted once I find the front fender I'm looking for. Richard. |

Hi Dennis
I'd be interested in your spare front fender if the part number ends in 933. The paint condition is not? important as the bodywork set I have will need to be painted anyway. Can you confirm the part number cast into the fender (photo?) and the price you're asking? Thanks in advance, Richard. |

开云体育I wouldn't expect an original Daytona orange item will match your paint, usually you have to paint the lot to get it spot on. 开云体育Hi Richard,I can offer two suggestions, but I assume you are in the U.S. so they may not be practical. S. Meyer, in Germany, has NOS parts, including the front fender you are looking for.? I also have a spare front fender in Daytona Orange, but it is used. There is a small scratch that a previous owner covered with a small sticker. It does not look too terribly bad, and the paint is overall fine. However, I am in Germany and I am willing to ship it, but I have no idea on the cost of shipping. If you have any interest in following up with me please feel free to send me an email off list. Mit freundlichen Grü?en/With best regards, Dennis C. O'Dell denniscodell@... Nürnberg, Germany? ?As with many of the stories, I find it stirring to learn that there are plenty of guys - including some considerably older than me (69+) who are still doing long / cross-country, sometimes solo rides? I've stuck fairly close to home here in Colorado's front range, for the last couple years; but maybe when this pandemic has abated, i'll venture out again. Thx. for the story, Todd. |

Story Time
开云体育Story
Time ?
It’s been quite cold, not doing much riding in a week or more, so the other
day I gave my old friend Ron LaVoie a call.? Ron lives in the mountains of
New Hampshire, an Army vet, been riding his whole life, class of ‘52, just like
me. Born of French Canadian parents, very independent and operates completely
off the grid.? No credit cards, no cell phones, no answering service, pays
everything with cash, a self described recluse and I swear his land line is an
old dial tone.
?
He is not easy to reach, I usually have to call a few times in order to
catch him.? Most likely outside chopping and stacking firewood, his only
heat source.
?
Ron is a long distance rider also.? He has a couple R100 boxers, both
with 11 gallon Heinrich tanks and puts them to good use.? I first met Ron
at the BMW Finger Lakes Rally around 40 years ago, he would be there every year
without fail.? Karl Duffner and I used to look forward to running into
Ronnie and listening to his stories.? Karl would of course respond with a
few good ones himself.?? I swear the Canadians are by far the best
story tellers.? Ronnie would go on for hours telling one story after
another giving us a good laugh.
?
So after trying for a few days, I finally reached Ronnie, it’s been a few
years and he doesn’t recognize me at first.? I told him I was looking for
“The Fool on the Hill”, then he figures out who it is and is happy to hear from
me.? He told me his birthday was the day prior.? I told him, if he
would answer his phone once in awhile, I wouldn’t have been late with my
birthday greeting.
?
Ronnie’s been laying low lately, said he didn’t ride at all last year,
mostly virus related, just being extra cautious and generally acting like the
recluse he is, but we both agreed, what “A big old goofy world” it is we are
living in.
?
We talked for hours, trying to catch up the best we could.? It’s
riding friends like Ronnie that I miss the most....his big smile, long bushy
beard and non stop stories are precious. So we talked and talked and I listened
to all his stories. Before we said our farewells he left me with a story by one
of his good friends Glenn Hall and here it goes:
?
True Story.
?
Glenn Hall is a free spirited long distance rider who crisscrosses the
country frequently.? On one occasion many, many years ago, Glenn was riding
his R90 six in the southwestern part of the country on a long lonely highway and
had the throttle wide open, traveling the speed of sound as there was nobody
anywhere in sight...until he crested this hill, where a state trooper was parked
on the other side.? Glenn knew he was dead to right, pulled over on the
side of road, turned off the engine, when the seasoned trooper sauntered over
slowly, uniform clean and neatly pressed, belt buckle in perfect alignment, his
Drill Instructors hat angled forward at just the proper angle, stared directly
into Glenn’s eyes and said in a deep deliberate voice “You know............I’ve
been waiting here all day for someone like you” !? Without hesitation Glenn
immediately responded, “Well officer, I got here as fast as I could”.
?
Happy Motoring, Keep your Spirits High and Enjoy the Ride,
Todd Trumbore

Re: Oil Filter Question
开云体育A rundown on some Airheads oil filters, and what Oak and I found when we disassembled brand-new ones, as well as used ones, and the changes in part numbers and details, are in an article on my website (besides a lot of 'other stuff').? I'm out of them now and I'm switching over to the Mahle OX35. They're only about $11 each from Rock Auto and if you want to patronize our marque specialists, Boxer2Valve, Euro MotoElectrics and Beemerboneyard have them too. The K&N's say they're made in China, the Mahle's are made in Austria. |
