A rundown on some Airheads oil filters, and what Oak and I found when we disassembled brand-new ones, as well as used ones, and the changes in part numbers and details, are in an article on my website (besides a lot of 'other stuff').? Some of the filters can be dangerous to your engine.? Some have been known to collapse.?? That article was only partially updated in the last few years, and is overdue for a full update, maybe before Spring, but the basics are there¡particularly the information in the last 1/4th or ?.? I might even permanently fix the UC/LC problem I caused, long ago, by using the wrong case, following a domain name¡..that is, with the Oil/oil.
I ended up buying Mahle also from Amazon and they look equal to the BMW filters. I think Max bmw sells them also.?

Since you've had no response Steve, I'll put in my two cents worth. My very experienced and trusted old school BMW mechanic used HighFiltro HF161 on my bike. I bought a few and used them for a couple of oil changes myself.
I'm out of them now and I'm switching over to the Mahle OX35. They're only about $11 each from Rock Auto and if you want to patronize our marque specialists, Boxer2Valve, Euro MotoElectrics and Beemerboneyard have them too. The K&N's say they're made in China, the Mahle's are made in Austria.
