Not a play on words or accents, but when Grahame McDonald, Phil Kilburn and I were returning from India and Sri Lanka in February 1980, we caught the 1550 or 1650 Kings Cross? to Leeds HST.? The train was almost as packed as some of the trains we'd ridden in India and Sri Lanka (we got a cab ride on the Kandy-Colombo train as the driver took pity on us being wedged into the coach...people had to take turns breathing, with half the car breathing in as the other half breathed out, it was that crowded) and the guard suggested before leaving that maybe some people might want to catch the following train before we left.?? We pulled out of Kings Cross with people standing wedged in everywhere and headed to our first stop at Peterborough or wherever.?? When the guard made his announcement for the first stop, he ended it with, "....and for those of you standing, ready, steady, go!" The train erupted in laughter.
