Fusion 360 and Lathe

Hi All

I've just setup Fusion 360, and generated code for a tapered cone. For
turning. The shape is a bit beyond the turn Wizards.

I've tried the Fanuc as well as the 'Haas turning' post processors, but
when I bring the code into Mach, I see the curves are messed up. I think
it's to do with I, J, but don't know how to fix it..

Does anyone know of a suitable post processor in Fusion 360 for Mach3
Turn? Or a 'how to' to get usable code?

Regards
Roland

Possibly a radius/diameter issue?

Hello Roland

Go to the Help option on Fusion and the Fusion people WILL help you, The fact that you are using the free-bee version is not a problem,
From my own experience they take problems like yours as a CHALLENGE to be defeated.
?With the three problems I have had over time, in every case they have resolved it and shown me what and how to do it next time.?

Roland,
I run mine in Diameter Mode.
Also, check your Ports & Pins config and under "Turn Options", make sure that "Reversed arcs in Front Post" is not checked.

I also use the Post processor "Mach 3 Turn G32Type B.cps"

I will send you a copy directly. It may also be in the files section.

Steve

Thanks Steve, I got the post.

Looks OK so far, in simulation. I'll test it tomorrow.

I see you have set the option to use radii instead of I,J. Can I,J be used?

Regards
Roland

Thanks Russel

The main thing is that Fusion360 is new to me. So while my brain feels the software is 'broken' because I can't get it to work, I have to keep in mind that I can't be the first person on the planet to have this issue, so the solution is out there.

Fortunately Steve sent me a post-processor, so things are looking up for now.

Regards
Roland

Hi All

I have downloaded and opened the OneCNC file from the Files section to use as a Turn? Post Processor in Fusion 360, so far I haven't been able to get it working,
guidance is definitely required.
I am a new user of Mach 3 and Fusion 360 but don't have any issues using the Mach 3 mill PP within Fusion.

Has anyone found any of the Turn post processors in the Fusion list to run as desired with Mach 3 ? those I have tried need editing before use.

Marcus

Try this one.

Steve

OK, let me see if I can walk you through this.? Looks like you have already posted code from Fusion, so here goes.

Load the file you want to machine.
Click on "Manufacture"? (at this point you will need to have a valid setup and toolpath)
Open "Actions" , then click "Post Process"
At the top blue bar, (Configuration Folder) Select "Setup", then "Open Folder"

A rather large tree of folders opens up, (these are all the updates!) at the bottom should be a folder labeled "Posts"

Copy the file I sent you here. Then it should appear in the blue Post Configuration window along with the post you have been using.

Good luck,
Steve

Many thanks Steve, Joe and others for help.

Got there in the end, it was my error for having the Feed per rev box checked in the tool program.
I found the Fanuc in the list of PP and used that but kept getting F rates of Feed per rev, I was looking for mm/min feedrate which are totally higher numbers.

I have now learnt how to add a PP program to Fusion and loaded the Artsoft Mach 3 with which I am familiar, so now up and making swarf.

Marcus

Excellent!
