Narrator inconsistent in how it reads negative numbers in Excel for Currency and Accounting Cell Formats
First, let me note that this inconsistency is not exclusive to Narrator. It only gives no indication at all of the fact a number is negative if Currency format is used and the cell format to show the value in red if it's negative is selected. If the format includes the leading minus sign, it is correctly read as negative as it is if either of the parentheses enclosed formats of he Currency format is used. For Accounting format, the parentheses enclosed option does not directly result in the number being declared negative, but the presence of the parentheses is announced and for those familiar with Accounting format this is a clear indirect indicator that the value is a debit/negative value. This issue extends to JAWS and NVDA as well, with each of these screen readers being less reliable than Narrator is in regard to negative numbers not being reported as negative depending on the visual formatting choice that was made. I suspect that all of this is tied together based upon what is being exposed by Excel to the various screen readers, but I can't be sure about that. But anyone who uses Excel, and particularly for spreadsheets where money is concerned and either Currency and/or Accounting formats are used, will encounter issues with not getting accurate information for negative values far too often. Here's the Feedback Hub problem report I submitted: Narrator inconsistent in how it reads negative numbers in Excel for Currency and Accounting Cell Formats If you're someone who works with Excel and with monetary values in particular, you might want to upvote this problem and/or add your own additional comments. -- Brian ¡¤ ¡á? ¡¤ ???? ¡¤ Virginia, USA - Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100; M365 Family; Android 13 (Xiaomi HyperOS 1.0.10.0) It is much easier to be critical than to be correct. ~ Benjamin Disraeli, 1804-1881

The slow, but predicted, disappearance of the "Outlook (new)" designation in the Windows Search results 5
I already had the two things shown for the instances on my machine, which has M365, change to "Outlook" and "Outlook (classic)." Today I was working with a client who has Office 2021 Home and Business on her computer, and when we first fired up her computer the designations were "Outlook (new)" and "Outlook (classic)." After the most recent preview update to Windows 11 was applied, these changed to just plain Outlook and "Outlook (classic)." I now suspect this change is tied to a Windows update rather than any updates to Office or M365, and for that reason alone you can be sure it's coming to everyone as the update that makes this change rolls out. This change makes perfect sense since what started out as "Outlook (new)" is ultimately going to be the only Outlook. While the classic UI still exists through 2029, it's being distinguished as an alternative. -- Brian ¡¤ ¡á? ¡¤ ???? ¡¤ Virginia, USA - Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100; M365 Family; Android 13 (Xiaomi HyperOS 1.0.10.0) It is much easier to be critical than to be correct. ~ Benjamin Disraeli, 1804-1881

installing M365 apps... 12
Hi all, My dad bought my sister's old laptop off of her and since he doesn't use it at all it has now become my backup. Anyway my parents got a new Windows 11 desktop and while the tech was here setting it up I asked him to remove my sister's accounts and add mine as I couldn't figure out how to do either. He did both and activated M365 but when I did a search for outlook the only one that came up was outlook (new). How do I install outlook (classic)? I can live with outlook (new) for the most part but there are still features that I use in classic outlook and I'd really like to have this laptop as similar as possible to my current one in terms of programs in case I do ever have to actually use it. This laptop is running the latest version of Windows 11 and I installed NVDA on it. Thanks for any instructions that anyone can provide me. Madison

Issue opening File Backstage View using Alt + F in Word 365. 6
Hi All, I¡¯m using MS Word that is a part of my Microsoft 365 package on a Win 11 computer using most recent version of JAWS. I¡¯ve been having an issue when in a document in Word. I make changes/edits then when I attempt to get to the Save options under the file menu, I can¡¯t pull up the File menu any longer with keystroke Alt + F. I can only save by doing a Control+S. Anyone have thoughts on what has happened that I can no longer pull up the menu with Alt+F anymore? Thanks for any pointers. Eileen

How do I combine two inboxes into a single one. 6
Hi. A few months ago I clicked on a link in a message. I¡¯m not exactly remembering what happened, but Outlook did some updating. Ever since then, I have two inboxes in my email. One gets a few messages, and the other one gets plenty of messages. Is there a way to combine these inboxes into a single one? Technology, ya gotta love it, especially when it has a mind of its own. Have a blessed day and don¡¯t work too hard. Kevin and Lily

Problem Saving Documents In MS Office 2021 12
Hi all, A few days ago, I installed MS Office 2021 on my computer. The problem I¡¯m having is that when I try to ¡°save as¡±the document I¡¯m getting a dialog box asking me to map a new network drive. I¡¯ve spent a great deal of time researching the problem on the Internet and reading some manuals but still no joy. If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing them. Also, does anyone know how to go back to classic mode from the new mode. I tried several solutions I found on the Internet but I was unable to execute the solutions because many of the steps wouldn¡¯t work with my installation. As always, thank you very much for any help. removing adobe add ons from winword 5
so I followed the directions to remove adobe add ons from win word, and I'm totally stuck. I went to file > options > add ons I chose manage XML add ons and clicked go. I chose the adobe add on and hit disable then OK. I still see options for adobe. I then tried to uninstall but it says this has been installed for all users and the admin account is needed. I logged into the admin account and tried to uninstall, it looked like it had, except when I log into my user account, I still see the adobe add on. I don't remember installing said add ons by the way, if I didn't I wonder if adobe did this without my consent. I've tried searching on perplexity with no hope of finding an answer of how to get rid of this particular ad don as I have no need for it. Any suggestions here? Microsoft? M365 Office Desktop Apps - Change in terminology from "Pinned" to "Favorites" in File Backstage Menu (and corresponding "Add to Favorites" in Context Menu)
The topic pretty much covers it. Starting a day or two ago, the old "Pinned" tab of files in the File Backstage Menu was changed to "Favorites." Favorites is reached directly using Alt, F, H, Y 8. I never bothered to check how Pinned was accessed, though it could very well have been the same shortcut sequence. The context menu that now specifies, "Add to Favorites," for files you wish to have in the Favorites (formerly known as Pinned) tab. I did not hear any advance discussion of this change; it just appeared.
