Never mind. Valuable reminder here that sometimes it really does pay to put in a little research as opposed to posting to a list. ?

?

What are the use cases for Copilot in OneDrive?

Copilot unlocks great new ways of engaging with your files. Here are a few use cases to get you started:

§? Ask questions on information in your files and Copilot will give you answers directly in chat. Now you don't need to search and open files to get what you're looking for, simply ask Copilot and get answers.

§? Copilot can help you catch up on multiple files by quickly summarizing them. Need to get the main points of an 80-page PDF report before a meeting? Just ask Copilot!

§? Reference existing files in your OneDrive to get Copilot's help on things like preparing FAQs, recommendations on improving a file for an executive meeting, or comparing the main differences between two documents.

§? Copilot is also great at helping you compare the differences between two or more files. You can ask Copilot to create a table or a text summary of two or more files without having to open and close your files.

There is none.? It's that simple.
?
Copilot integration is in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (at the moment, anyway).? Programs that are involved in content creation.? OneDrive is storage.
?
If you're an M365 subscriber, not using OneDrive is wasting money, since you get 1TB of storage as part and parcel of your subscription.? If you're not using M365, then the 5GB you get with OneDrive at no cost is not much space at all, so other options may be better.

Re: Changing to the basic version

Konnie,
?
Since it's Personal, and they're showing a $99.99 renewal fee, that does indicate you're the subscriber.? Since I am not a subscriber to Personal, I can only make educated guesses as to what else is on that page.? But I'd search for $69.99 as a starting point.? There has to be a way for you to keep what you've got by downgrading to the Classic version by your renewal date, and $69.99 is what Personal Classic should cost.
?
If you can't find that, then please report back to us after you've talked with Microsoft, because there has to be a way to keep what you've got for Personal subscribers just as there is for Family subscribers and the page layout for the subscription cancellation for all Personal subscribers should be the same.? I just don't know exactly what's there, and can't know what's there.

How to determine whether you're the Primary Subscriber for M365 Family

1.? Go to for the account you're logged in under.? This is the Subscriptions page.
2. If you are the Primary Subscriber, there will be 2 buttons on this Subscription page that only you will have:
? ? ? ?a) Manage Microsoft 365 Family, Renews on {your renewal date}
? ? ? ?b) Share Microsoft 365 Family, Sharing with X of 5 people? ?(where X is between 0 and 5)
?
If you do not have these two buttons, you are NOT the Primary Subscriber, and you cannot change the M365 service level.? Only the Primary Subscriber can do that.
?
On my partner's computer, where he is one of the seats I've shared, there is only a button near the top, "Use Microsof365.com."? Also, as you continue down the page to another large M365 control it states, "Shared and managed by {Primary Subscriber's Name}."? So if you run into this, you also know you're not the Primary Subscriber.
?
I would imagine that those who are individual subscribers to M365 Personal will have a Manage Microsoft 365 Personal button with the renewal date.? It would make no sense for a sharing button to appear for a Personal subscription.

Re: Changing to the basic version

Brian, I live in the United States, and was not able to downgrade.

When I search for the phrase, Current Subscription, here’s is what the following two lines say:

For one person

Use up to five devices simultaneously

?

If I search for the phrase, current subscription, again, it says that no more results are found.

?

I also notice that although the word cancel appears in the link you provided, the name of the page it brought me to just says Microsoft Account Subscriptions. So the word Cancel is not mentioned in the title.

There is an option on the page to cancel my subscription, but I’m pretty sure that if I tried it, the same thing would happen as before, and it would not ultimately give me the option to downgrade.

Anyway, just thought I’d share my experience as an example, since I do live in the U.S.

BTW, to anyone having difficulty with the downgrade, I am curious what you're told if you search on that Cancel Page for the phrase, "Current Subscription," then read the subsequent 2 lines after that.

I'd also be curious if there are two things found for that search, the first being just your current subscription, and the second being the text, "Current subscription without AI."

I have no idea where you may be located, but I have had reports from Australia that the instructions don't work there.
?
The ones I gave are "screen reader translated" versions of the only set that Microsoft has put out to do this, so if you have no "Switch Plan" button presented to you on the noted page, calling Microsoft is your best bet.? As you've already read, these instructions are accurate and successful in the USA, at least.
?
I've yet to know anyone, personally, in the USA where going to this page:
is not showing the Switch Plan button provided they're logged in with the same Microsoft Account that was used to acquire M365 (or was used when setting it up when it was purchased from a 3rd party reseller).

I tried to do this a week ago, because I think the free Copilot version is all I will need.

However, following the instructions you had given for how to downgrade, I did not receive any option to do so.

I would love to hear others’ experiences. I have until May, so if I still feel the same by then, I may just call Microsoft and have them help me, assuming I am still unsuccessful at completing the process on my own.

NCBootman,

What you are referring to is the AutoComplete List, which is completely independent of your contacts.

?

If you want to purge your entire AutoComplete List (and it will be slowly rebuilt again as you receive and send email):

1. Alt + F, T (File Backstage View, Options).

2. Navigate to the Mail Options pane.

3. Tab into that pane and locate the Empty AutoComplete list button and activate it. (Or after you're in the pane hit E several times until you land on that button, then activate it,

4. You will get a confirmation dialog asking, "Are you sure you want to empty the AutoComplete List?," for which there is a Yes and No button.? Choose appropriately.

?

If you want to delete individual entries, the easiest way to do that is to type in a character or two in the To:, CC:, or BCC: edit box then any address that is a match for what you've typed in will appear in a list that you can down-arrow through immediately beneath the edit box.? If you are on any entry in that list, and hit your Delete key, it will be removed from the AutoComplete List (at least until you do something that would cause it to be added back again - and if you don't send anything to that address moving forward, nor receive anything from it, it stays gone).

When it tells you, "Select the icon or press Alt + I to draft with Copilot," it's simply making you aware of its presence and the option to give it prompts to do what you want it to do.? If you neither select the Copilot icon nor hit Alt + I, and just start typing, not a single thing is different than it ever has been in Word.? It just takes your text, as you are typing it, and placing it in the document at the insertion point.

I personally value its ability to rewrite a document or a section of a document in a different writing style. However, you could choose to downgrade to the classic plan and use the free Copilot service to do that by pasting in the relevant text of the document, ask for a rewrite according to your preferred style and then paste the rewritten text into your document.

When I asked the free Copilot about size limits, it responded by saying that it can work with text blocks of up to a few thousand characters, so if you need to work with larger documents having Copilot integrated into Office might be beneficial. This doesn’t even cover what you could do with Copilot integrated in Excel or PowerPoint but these are things I have yet to explore.
