Messages to my list have two different footers: > Groups.io Links: > You receive all messages sent to this group. > View/Reply Online (#143771) | Reply To Group | Reply To Sender | Mute This Topic | New Topic > To join, send a blank email message to: [email protected] from the email account where you want to receive messages.Your Subscription | Contact Group Owner | Unsubscribe [sharon@...] > Most of them have the top footer but then one will come through with the second. I post a Group called [email protected] where I list astronomy-related events in the SF Bay Area for interested locals to see what is going on. Over the last month and one other time before, pictures I have been posting to individual listings to serve as topic labels have ended up taken off the listings and piled up at the end of the whole message. Seems like a bug in Groups.io and wonder what to do about it. Can Groups.io correct the problem? Ken Lum ============================

Uncertain future for .io domains?

Unsuccessful delivery -- mx-20.au-east.atmailcloud.com

A subscriber is getting unsuccessful delivery attempts, with the following responses shown in the groups.io logs: mx-20.au-east.atmailcloud.com: 451 combined_short ratelimited mx-20.au-east.atmailcloud.com: 451 Connection refused from 45.79.227.220 due to concurrent SenderPolicy. AI510 This is happening multiple times during the day and seems the user is not receiving her own posts and possibly posts from others as well. Can anyone shed some light. This user is using optusnet.com.au as their email provider. Thank you Peter

Photos embedded with a msg end up piled up at end of msg

I post a weekly list of local astronomy events for the San Francisco Bay Area called BayAstro. With each event I usually include a relevant photo or image. Unfortunately, over the last several wks, the photos have gotten detached from their listings and end up piled up at the bottom of the entire msg. Sometimes, the problem gets corrected by someone at .io. But then the problem comes back. Anyone know what is going on and how to correct it? Ken L. ==========================

Sending a message to a new member regarding their post

I got an email notice of a new message being posted to one of my premium groups. I went to the pending message approval page, and find the sender has not signed his post with a valid name as required by group rules. It seems that in the past, one of the options below the message display was contact the sender, but that doesn't appear now. My options now are to approve it or delete it. In the past, I've contacted the member and had them add a display name to their membership, or send me one and I can add it to their account for the group. Am I confused, or did this get changed and I missed it? Dano

Hi folks, Has anybody noticed that the attached-image resize doesn't seem to be working? I have our group set to reduce images to 1024x1024, but we got a posting last night with a set of 3 jpg attachments (6720x4480 pixels each) that totaled some 14 megabytes, all of which were passed on through unchanged. We're on the free tier, and would like to keep it that way for as long as possible. The images were of the comet A3, taken by a DSLR. Thanks, Greg D

Using Google Analytics

I will be using one of my groups.io websites as a read-only website. Only a handful of members. I will be posting articles I write, like a blog. While it makes no sense for the cost of the Enterprise plan for this, is there any way to use Google Analytics to track access and such to the website?

Other notice for email bouncing

Getting statistics of member activity

Hello GMF members. If I go into "Directory" and choose a member of a group, I can see how many times they have posted a message. But I have to do this one at a time. Is there any way of getting such statistics in one go, such as seeing how many times all the members have started a thread or participated in one. Maybe what tags they used if they started a post, Also a way to email all members who have never posted for example, and any other useful tricks? I think the answer is always going to be "no", but I want to make sure. Thanks

Members and directory have different numbers?

As an admin I look at my group members list and there are 257 members. Then I go to the directory and it says it¡¯s showing 242 of 242 members. can someone explain where the other members went? I know the directory won¡¯t show people with private accounts but shouldn¡¯t the total number listed on the directory page actually be the total number of members?

I've ping-ponged between the owner and user guides and I think the answer is "No", but I'm not 100% sure... Desired behavior: Once an individual user's delivery preferences for main have been set, any subgroup they join after that point will automatically inherit that same delivery preference. This is at the user level, not Admin -> Membership -> Defaults for the whole group itself. Usecase: An easily confused elderly user base who have demonstrated difficulty doing anything beyond sending email Users always want the same setting everywhere The admin for Main creates the user's account via a direct add with no subgroups included All subgroup joins after the direct-add are self service using the "join" button and do not require moderator approval Don't want the added burden on the group moderators of constantly having to validate/tweak someone's delivery preferences for them whenever someone new joins their subgroup Thanks! -kenny

Strange Behaviour

I am an owner of two ham radio Groups.io groups. When one of the moderators in those groups sends an email message to multiple groups, including these two groups, I never receive the email message in the two groups. When I go to their respective webpages it's there. I do receive the email message from the other groups that I'm not an owner of. This has happened on a consistent basis. Any ideas what is going on? One of our members believes his phone number was given to scam artist through Groups.io I have yet to receive more details about this, but interested in knowing how I should set up my group to insure no one, excepted approved members, can get in and see our roster.

maintain privacy and safety with a no-names policy
Recent discussions of privacy and safety concerns spur me to suggest to others what my group requires: No use of names! If an email address uses a real name, then the member must get a gmail or other new address using something other than a name. The name itself, of course, cannot be anyone's actual name. Our longstanding need for privacy is due to other concerns, but given the address harvesting and other dangers lurking these days, I recommend it to other groups.

I¡¯ve looked through HELP. I¡¯ve viewed (and attempted) the ¡°Using subgroups¡±, ¡°overview¡±, ¡°creating a subgroup¡±, and ¡°Using subgroup categories¡± sections. I had a specific function ¨C a ¡®50th Anniversary on the job¡¯ party/discussion for one group member. With your help, I figured out how to create a subgroup and exclude that single member of the group from that subgroup, then open the entire topic up to the rest of the group ¨C allowing those who didn¡¯t want to be involved to ¡®opt out¡¯ of that subgroup. THAT worked amazingly well. I can easily see using this procedure to set up ¡®working groups¡¯ for projects, etc. But don¡¯t want to end up with 2, 10, 50 or more subgroups that no longer have any function or use. Now the event is past. And there¡¯s no reason to keep/archive/continue the subgroup or its contents ¨C messages, etc. I just want to Delete the entire subgroup, all of its contents, messages and such. But I don¡¯t see a way to dump it all. BTW, I don¡¯t really understand/comprehend the ¡°subgroup category¡± unit or purpose. Hello GMF I'm pretty sure that I joined a new group on GroupsIO as I have the confirmation email (see extract below) But when I click on the link, I end up on their home page and at the bottom, there is the +Join This Group blue button. Also, this group has not been added to the My Groups list, so I can't find a way into it to read posts or start a new topic myself. Is this me missing something simple or a bug? Thanks

Can you please tell me what this header means? Is the message delayed 16 hours BEFORE it gets to groups.io.... or is it held up for 16 hours at groups.io before it is delivered to my In Box? Thanks Win

How do I help this member - she can NOT post to the group. She can get messages from the group. She can¡¯t Something strange has happened, and it¡¯s not going away. I am blocked from posting in the group. Not sure what to do about it. Subscribe using a different email address? Here is a message I get. Magda I¡¯ll try, but I couldn¡¯t log into the group either. It has blocked me consistently for a few days with different excuses. I¡¯m wondering if it¡¯s censoring me re Middle East conflict. Magda I receive the massages from the group with no problem.
