Response to invitation is marked NotCconfirmed
#invitation
According to the manual, Not Confirmed is applied when it is not clear that the member's address is correct.
However, when I enter the member's address in an invitation and they reply, how can there be any doubt?? Why is the member flagged NC, and I have to send them a confirmation email, which they must respond to? This behavior makes groups.io look amateurish to everyone. |

My experience of this is when the invited member opts not to click the <accept> link in the email but then goes to the group URL and applies to join. Unsurprisingly, these two activities are not connected by groups.io (but it does beg a question of whether they could be connected...) and so the usual confirmation process has to be gone through. Look in the acticity log and you will probably see:

Go to Admin > Invite and click the "Send Invitations" button. On the resulting page, does this user's Status entry show as "Accepted?" If not, then he never accepted your invitation, and joined in some other manner.? Regards, Bruce Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |

NC will only be applied if they join via email or on the site.? And then, only if they've never had a Groups.io account using that email address.? I see this now and then when I send an invitation and the person would rather use another email address (or already have an account under another address), so they use a different address to join. Thanks, everyone.? You're right.? He applied for membership on the web after I sent him an invitation, which he ignored.
Sorry about the confusion.? This is not the first time this has happened, and I'm sure it will happen again.? It presents an opportunity for groups.io to be better:? When someone applies via the web after being sent an invitation, tell them that they will join the group faster if they find and reply to the invitation. |

The problem is that there's no way for the site to know that a particular address has been invited if it's not he one the invitation was sent to.? Most people use the invitation as intended, so the 'return on investment' of time and effort would be minimal.? If they just follow the instructions included in the invite, there's no problem.? In addition, you could include more information like that in an Invite type notice that you set up for your group, so it's included with the invitation they receive.? You'll need to join the to make suggestions. Duane -- Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual. |

Thanks again, everyone.? I was not aware that I could add a customized invite message.? I have now followed your helpful instructions and done so.
In this case, I have also passed the person on the street and reminded him.? I suspect he has not seen either of the confirmation emails from the group, and may not have seen my personal email to him.? There's only so much you can do (in a basic group). |
