Problem with uploading Files

I deleted a membership roster that was out of date and then tried uploading a corrected one to the files section of my group. It will not allow me to access it to upload. Is this a problem system-wide or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you.

I'm not sure what you mean by "it will not allow me to access it." But I'm going to take a guess anyway...

If it's a PDF file and you are using the Edge browser, the "Couldn't Open PDF" message you might be seeing affects only the display of the thumbnail image in the dialog box. If you click on the "Add" button anyway, it should still go.

See /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/23176361#10036?for a screenshot and discussion.

Or you could be out of storage space or any number of other things. I hope this helps...if not, we will need more details on what kind of file you're uploading, its size, and what kind of response groups.io is giving you as you attempt the upload.

Best regards,
Bruce

Thank you for your answer, Bruce. ?I can select the ¡°Upload File¡± in the other IO groups that I belong to, but I can¡¯t do it on my own group. ?If I run my curser over the tab, I get an O with a slash through it, and the tab is faint in color, meaning that it won¡¯t respond. ?I am going to try eliminating some of the files on that site. ?It may be that we are near capacity in storage space. ?It¡¯s either that or I have something wrong in my settings. ?

On chrome and mobile. Has something changed?
The table of months on the home page is just for quick access to that month's messages in the message archive. Click on "Calendar" on the left-side menu to actually access the calendar. At upper right in the Calendar are buttons to list by Month|Week|Day|List. Be sure to select your preferred view.

If the left-side menu item is missing, such that you can't get to the Calendar at all, you're probably logged out. Look for a "Log In" button at upper right (on the blue menu bar) and click on it to re-login. You need to do this every 30 days, or whenever you delete your browser cookies.

If this still doesn't help you, please get back with us with more details as to the symptoms.

It does sound like you are out of storage space. You might want to check out the wiki entry at?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Managing-Attachments%2C-Files-and-Photos?before proceeding further. It provides information on how to find out how much space is being used and what to do about it. If you have any further questions we will still be here to assist!

Hello Bruce.

I¡¯ve fiddled with this thing all morning and still can't upload files to my main IO account. ?I¡¯ve been able to do it in the past but something has changed to make it so I can¡¯t do it anymore. ?The file upload works fine for the sub-group, but not the main group¡ where the files need to go. ?If I try to upload a file and roll my curser over the?Upload File?button, I get this:??, and the?Upload File?button does not respond at all, meaning that I can¡¯t even click on it. ?I¡¯ve tried changing my settings, but nothing seems to work. ?I currently have ¡°Subscribers can view, Moderators can upload¡± for files. ?I am the list owner and there are two other moderators. ?

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Anita; I don't want to appear "picky" but why have you started a new thread rather than follow on from Bruce's posting when he wrote:

Have you followed his suggestion about checking the storage space available to you?

A further suggestion to consider; you state that you are the Group Owner; do you have a second membership as an "ordinary" member, and if so are you erroneously trying to use that membership to carry out uploads?

Chris

Anita,

I¡¯ve fiddled with this thing all morning and still can't upload files to my main IO account. ?

You mean to your primary group?

The file upload works fine for the sub-group, but not the main group¡

That would seem to rule out a storage capacity issue. I believe the primary and subgroups share a common quota.

If I try to upload a file and roll my curser over the?Upload File?button, I get this:??, ... I currently have ¡°Subscribers can view, Moderators can upload¡± for files.? I am the list owner and there are two other moderators. ?

Have a look at the Home button at the top of the left column of page links. If it doesn't show an Owner or Mod badge then you are logged in using the wrong email address - one that is only a member of the group.

Shal

Thank you, Chris. ?Sorry I didn¡¯t continue on with the thread. I was just trying to shorten the emails. I was able to work through the problem with Bruce¡¯s help, which was very much appreciated. ?Turns out it was a storage problem because of very large photo files pulled over from Yahoo, and I learned a lot in fixing the situation. Very grateful for all you do. Anita?
