Re: Not Confirmed Member

NC means that they haven't confirmed their email address with Groups.io? They were sent a separate email from Groups.io with a link in it to click on that would confirm it.? That email may have gone to their spam folder or they just ignored it.? There's a button on their member page of your group that you can use to 'Send Confirmation Email' to them.

Re: The Transfer

^^Mark says he set something up to automatically send a message to the Y!Group's -owner address as soon as he receives the Invite.^^

I did not receive an automatic acknowledgement that the initial [email protected] invitation was received (sent about 24 hours ago) - and no, it's not in Spam/Junk either. However, I didn't get an error when I sent it (amazing!), my log in the Yahoo Group shows it was sent, an invite to a "test" email was received. I've been assuming it was received and is just in queue - but with Yahoo, I guess all assumptions are rash.

Should I wait or re-send? (I do know the whole process is going to take weeks.... my only concern is the fact that apparently we were *supposed* to get an auto-respond.)

Not Confirmed Member

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Today's dumb question.? I'm trying to figure out the "NC" member icon.? Obviously, it means not confirmed.

?

Here's the exact scenario.? So a new member requested to join a group.? I accepted the request.? They show up as a member in the list.? But, there is still a blue "NC" icon next to their name.? Does this mean they have not clicked the link in the welcome e-mail they would have received?

Re: After the transfer, some YG subscribers immediately opt out of new list on groups.io

> About ever four years I would purge the group...

Running into something?similar myself.? ?I've moved groups I own over to .? ?But took that time to look at all my own personal Y! subscriptions.? ?I'd say 80% of the lists I was a member of hadn't posted in years, or only had 1-2 messages/year.? ?Between missing owners, and people discussing things on FB or forums, I was surprised how many once-active emails lists had just faded away.

Re: Group storage space?

Actually, that's a question/feature.? ?

Had to search this forum to find out how to find the quota for my main group.? ?

But I'm curious why subgroups have an Admin/Usage menu item, but the main group it's instead under Admin/Upgrade.? Not a bit UI difference, but it threw me off, and wasn't covered in the HELP.

Downloading Messages

Is there a way for members to download an additional copy of their posts? Any other posts? He's apparently trashed his own messages.

I agree with Stan. In spite of all the transfer special notices I have sent in the list (I had put a notice on the YG group homepage, too), just after the transfer was successfully completed, one of the first mails I received was a rude message from a subscriber (totally unknown to me) stating that she never asked to be subscribed to any list and ordering me to delete her account from ALL lists.
It turned out that she'd been a member (obviously of her own choice) of my YG group since 2013 and was in nomail. She clearly hadn't a clue about the transfer.
I was so annoyed by her unnecessarily harsh tone that I happily deleted her from Yahoo and Groups.io.

This morning, however, I received this notice:
"This is to notify you that [YG member's address] has been unsubscribed from your group [email protected] because they marked a message as spam."

It's the second time that I get an unsubscribe notice mentioning spam.

I did the same thing as you did, but I did it while I was I was experimenting with my group on Groups.io. I already had all our Files, Links, and Databases backed up on my computer, and I uploaded them all while I learned how to use the new group before the transfer. What I did with the dbase was create a table on Groups.io just like it was on Y, then uploaded my backup CVS file on my computer right into the new dbase...Worked like a charm. I let Groups.io do the transfer on the Membership List, Photo Albums, and Archived posts. I invited my one moderator, and we got used to the new site before the transfer happened.

Thank you for your reassuring words, Shal. When it comes to copyright infringement I am always a bit nervous, maybe because copyright is part of my daily work (not as a lawyer, unfortunately).

Re: is there a way to report abuse on the groups.io site

I would email the support address for groups.io then block this person or rather ban them, if you can find the right person who is doing this of corse.

Take care and be blessed, and have a happy Tuesday.

The threats are lies. The troll didn't hack, he just spoofs sender email addresses in his emails. Send me or post full header of a spoofed message, may be I'll be able to tell you where to complain to.

this is harassment or cyberbullying, been going for a few weeks, my
friend then had to close the previous group, due to all these sperious
messages, then he set up another group and having the same issue.
Your friend needs to switch messages to his groups to moderated (Settings - Spam Control - "Moderated All posts require approval before being sent to the group"), and moderate all messages. Delete (not reject) messages from the troll.

The only effective way to deal with the troll is to ignore him. He craves attention.

Re: A formatting oddity appeared today

Nope, that wasn't it.? I just checked Settings, Message Formatting.? NONE of the options are checked.?

Silly me, I just approved/released the only message in tonight's queue.? I should have checked to see what my Advanced Formatting bar looks like now.? Sigh.? Tomorrow .....

Re: change owner name on invitation

Thank you Duane!? We used your suggestion? ?"'spoof' the other persons name by temporarily changing your ID to theirs"?
?It was so easy to do, looked perfect.? ?Then changed display name back.?
My 1st post on the forum & total success!
