so I've got a strange question about intigrations.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOne of my lists, it¡¯s primary purpose is to disseminate information to its members. This information normally comes in the form of a docx file that after sending in the body of an e-mail is uploaded to the files section of the site for retrieval later if a member doesn¡¯t feel like trolling the archive. I¡¯m trying to figure out the best way to automate this process, meaning sending the text of the docx to the list, then upload said content to the files section. I¡¯m suspecting at least the uploading may have to be done manually, but if not, I¡¯m all for it. I was thinking a receive only aliase could receive the text from a script and fire it off. I know the changes that mark uploads weekly have to be automated, lol. Who wants to keep track of remembering to fire something off, so I thought I could so something similar with my list. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |
Re: [email protected] not working for me
Keith,
I have no idea what has happened but after sending an email to theOk, well I'm glad to hear that worked out for you. So the question I ask now is what page is shown after you press theNot sure why you need to know, or which green button you would still be seeing, but I've added screenshots to our Wiki page to illustrate the process from beginning to end: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups#Group-Transfer-Process Hopefully that will help. Re: Group member has "No subscriptions"
That would suggest to me that she has logged in with another email address, not the one that she used to join your group. That was indeed the case, though the member does not know how the change of email address happened. However she can now log in and access the main website on Gio and is much relieved. Thank you for all your help. Margaret Parker UK |
Re: New Group Not Being Created From Yahoo Groups
Cathy,
I did see the invited message in Yahoo Groups in the activity log so II meant the join rigamarole, to have your test address accept the invitation. But no matter, I still have the impression this part of the discussion is premature. I accepted the other users invite by email but I didn¡¯t get one forNaturally, that one was sent to Groups.io not to you. (note that the other user doesn¡¯t appear as a member in YahooGroups)It might take a bit of time for the accept by email to be processed, but the addresses that received and replied to the invitation should end up on your Yahoo Group's Manage Members list. By the lov I mean the list of values for In Process, this group doesAre there other transfers in that list? Is there a limit to the number of groups you can own in the freeNope. I've added some more description and screenshots to GMF's wiki page about transfers. Hopefully this will help us clear up where you are in the process. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups#Group-Transfer-Process Let us know how your experience differs from the process outlined in the wiki page. Calendar Reminder Not Being Sent
Hi,
I have three calendar reminders for today Nov 22. They are all-day events. The two were sent (5 min before) to the group but the other one was not ( supposed to be sent 1 min before start).?? What is the problem here? Pls help, we just created this group and we just left Yahoo Group because of the problem with calendar reminders not being sent. Thank you. |
Re: New Group Not Being Created From Yahoo Groups
Ken, "If you delete an email address from the member list, can they join again Yes. I've removed and re-invited the same address innumerable times in my test Yahoo Group, including recently to check on Cathy's report. Given some of the odd things Yahoo has done in the past, it would not ? Too true. There's always a possibility that Cathy's Yahoo Group is affected by a Invite glitch that isn't happening to all Yahoo groups. There have been off-and-on reports of Yahoo Groups not actually transmitting Invitations, but Cathy seems to have ruled that out when she was able to receive an invitation at a test address. There could also be a different kind of glitch surrounding the acceptance of the invitation via web - I think I've always accepted by email reply. If the problem were on the acceptance side I've little doubt Mark would know how to get around it, or would contact Cathy. But one thing the red box on the instructions page makes clear: Step 1 must be completed before taking Step 2 (inviting the transfer agent). So as Bruce says, if Cathy is still hung up on completing Step 1 then that's what needs to be resolved first. As long as the receiving group does not appear in your "In Process" pull-down, you will not be able to check transfer progress, nor will you be able to click the "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button in Step 4. If we cannot get past this, it's premature to even be talking about inviting the transfer agent. Did one of your co-owners initiate the transfer??This seemed to be the problem with Keith H's transfer, and he ended up contacting support to clear the logjam. I believe there are other ways to fix it without contacting support, but let's be sure we know what the problem is first, taking things one step at a time. Re: New Group Not Being Created From Yahoo Groups
Cathy,
I guess it would be a Yahoo question: "If you delete an email address from the member list, can they join again later?" Given some of the odd things Yahoo has done in the past, it would not surprise me if that created an issue that was effectively blocking the transfer id from groups.io. I don't think it does, but given other things, I'd not be surprised. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |
Re: New Group Not Being Created From Yahoo Groups
I did see the invited message in Yahoo Groups in the activity log so I got thru their?
rigermorole. I was logged into other tabs but that was true for every other group that I have created. But I wasn¡¯t ?logged into groups.io with that computer, I was logged in with my iPad I accepted the other users invite by email but I didn¡¯t get one for transfer (note that the other user doesn¡¯t appear as a member in YahooGroups)? i have always been logged into groups.io with the same username, it is the only one I use for groups.io and I am one of the multiple owners of this group By the lov I mean the list of values for In Process, this group does not appear there. Is there a limit to the number of groups you can own in the free edition? I would love to get past the first one I have waited from two weeks to two hours, same result.? I apparently did delete a [email protected]?in YahooGroups in October, though I have no memory of doing so thanks! cathy |
Re: New Group Not Being Created From Yahoo Groups
Cathy, So, I tried inviting two users to YahooGroups including [email protected] Did you manage to go through all the rigamarole Yahoo's web site puts you through? Be sure you were not signed into Yahoo with your browser (in any other window/tab) when clicking that link. Was any entry made in the group's Activity Log? Check all the tabs, but I think the Membership tab should show "joined via web' if you succeeded. Or, try accepting the invitation by email (just reply to it). I checked groups.ionfor the message you mentioned above - no message at the top of the screen and this group still doesn¡¯t appear in the in process lov The status messages only appear on the page that you get to via the link in the In Process list. could the issue be that someone besides me created the Group? No, I've stepped in to help with a transfer when someone else created the group (and the Yahoo Group). But you are required to have the owner Role in the Groups.io group, not just moderator. And... you are required to be logged in using the same email address that you logged in with when you initiated the transfer. If another owner initiated the transfer then you can't see it in the In Process list. would it help to delete the group and recreate it? No. I don't think the problem is with either group or how they are set up. could our files in yahoo groups be somehow corrupted? That's always a possibility, but it wouldn't cause you not to see the transfer as In Process. Any corrupted files would likely be skipped, and detailed in the tally that the transfer agent emails at the end of the transfer. ... and another response said that would wipe out everything that we have. Which is it? No, setting up a second transfer won't wipe out anything from the first. But I think you need to get past the first one first. Re: New Group Not Being Created From Yahoo Groups
Cathy,
How many days are you waiting between actions? Keep in mind many of these steps are manual, humans are involved, and it takes time. I recall it took about 2-3 days before the invite got the transfer user into the Yahoo group. Then I had to make it moderator and fill out the next step in the groups.io side of things. Then it was between 1 and 2 weeks before the group was copied. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

? ?It said 2 sent successfully ? ?I got an email for the other user that I was invited and to click to join the group, I did but that user doesn¡¯t appear on the member list I checked groups.ionfor the message you mentioned above - no message at the top of the screen and this group still doesn¡¯t appear in the in process lov i am getting desperate! could the issue be that someone besides me created the groups.io Group? would it help to delete the group and recreate it? could our files in yahoo groups be somehow corrupted? i have seen two answers here about converting the users first and then convert the rest of the data later ?(I could just manually add the users for now): one said no problem to add the history later and another response said that would wipe out everything that we have. Which is it? I don¡¯t want to take a chance of wiping everything out everything that is new thanks! cathy |

How do I help her please? I have not seen this situation in any emails to this group or have had it reported to me by any other of my group? members. Most likely, she is logged in under the wrong email address.?Find her member record in your group (Admin>Members) and find out what email address is subscribed. Send her that with instructions to pull down her name at upper right and select Logout. If she logs back in using the correct email address she should then be able to access your group content.
