Re: Do Users Receive Feedback if a Post Is Rejected under Moderation?
If a post in the pending queue is rejected, the sender will receive an email to that effect.? If it's approved, then deleted, there will be no notification.? The group owner could check the activity log to see what actually happened.
I'm not sure why you would have been asked to sign in again.? Best guess would be a glitch, but hard to say if it was the site or your browser. Re: Is anyone having an issue adding photos to an album?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks, Bruce.? I appreciate the response.? ? Our setting is fine and we're a premium group with space to spare.? ? After much back and forth with one of the users who had this problem, we finally stumbled on what she is doing.? In case it is of use for anyone else, this is where we landed.? She kept swearing there were 5 pics in her album and I kept seeing 2 so I was pretty sure she wasn't actually IN her album.? Last night she included a note that she was entering her name where it said "created by."? I couldn't find anywhere where it said "created by" but tried the search box and, sure enough, there were her five pictures...in three different albums...and no "Add Photos" button. ??I explained the difference between being in an album and the search hit list, and how to get into an album from the list.? She has since added another picture to her album.? ? My users have complained for a long time that it's difficult to find albums on groups.io.? They liked that you could sort the most recently modified albums to the top on Yahoo so they could easily access the most recently added photos.? (They have completely forgotten that we went 2-3 months without being able to load ANY pictures on Yahoo before moving!)? I suspect someone figured out they could use the search box to find pics and shared that and I missed it (I do read all the messages that come through, but I sometimes skim...)? So that's why I suddenly have several users in this boat.? ? Janet Smith ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bruce Bowman

Re: Email to group falling into a black hole
It looks like a message specific issue. The user sent the message twice. Both times it fell into a back hole. He sent it to a co-owner. The co-owner posted it successfully. The problematic poster posted other messages successfully the day before the problematic period and later the same day. He posts several times a day almost every day.
It is a two time issue. He has had no difficulty posting either before or after the problematic two post attempts. Thanks for responding. It would be easy to chalk this up as a mystery of store and forward and trundle on, but I am baffled. I am considering asking him to try to post the message one more time, but the group has moved on and I would not like to confuse the group with a weird repost. I am not very familiar with Apple email. Do they perform aggressive filtering that could account for this? I soured on Apple way back in the 80s, probably irrationally, and I have avoided them since. Do Users Receive Feedback if a Post Is Rejected under Moderation?
Gerald Boutin
The reason I ask whether or not there is any feedback is that I replied via the web to a moderated topic and I?am almost 100% certain that I saw my message show up, but a few minutes later now, and it is no longer there. I did not receive any email notification. I also don't subscribe to posts on that group, so I don't have any proof of the post.?Is there any other place I might find feedback?
If the second part is really related, then this really would be an unusual circumstance, but it would appear more likely it was just a coincidence. Right around that time, I was unceremoniously dumped and told to log back in. I checked my browser cookies and the login cookies were indeed gone. This, despite?the fact that I was active on the site at the time. -- Gerald |

Check to see if it now works as expected. Another thing to check is your total storage. Instructions to do this can be found at?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Managing-Attachments%2C-Files-and-Photos. If you are over 1 GB on a Basic group, then you may need to delete some things to make room. My question is; can I "unbounce" members accounts? Or do I have to contact each member directly with instructions?Accounts will continue to bounce until the underlying problem is fixed. If you know how to do that, it's a good idea to contact these subscribers ahead of time, telling them what to do.? At that point you can force groups.io to send them a new bounce probe:

Well sort of, yes. Firstly there is a world of difference between deleting messages and topics. Delete a topic and all the messages within it vanish as well. There is a way of deleting in batches, if not actually in bulk. Starting at your topic view, add -test to the URL and go to it. This produces a checkbox beside every topic along with some possible actions at the top. Check the boxes for the topics you want to delete (might be a good idea to start with your oldest topics!) and then click Delete at the top. I don't know what your preferred Items Per Page is but it might be worth changing yours to 50 or 100 rather than the default 20; the setting is in your Account > Preferences, not in the settings for your group Subscription. Hope that helps a bit. Chris [excess quote trimmed by moderator] |

Marv,
Typically, the answer to email disappearing into the ether is waiting for another day or so. There is no guarantee for immediate delivery. More proactively, is this a one (two) time issue, or can that user not still send any messages to the group? -- Gerald |

Email to group falling into a black hole
One of the owners of one of the groups I help moderate sent an email to the group twice. In both cases, the email did not appear on the groups.io site and was not reflected to the membership. The sender is not a technologist, but he is an experienced computer user and he posts to the group successfully several times a day. He received no undeliverable mail message. He's checked his spam folder for error messages. He forwarded the message to me and to one of the other co-owners, who then successfully sent the message to the group.
I've gone through the activity log and find no evidence that the email ever made it to groups.io. I've examined the message he forwarded to me and I can't see anything exceptional about it.The only things notable are it is long (8846 characters) but not excessively long. Most of it was pasted into the email. HTML for the paste shows fairly elaborate formatting. It was sent from a me.com address, through Apple Mail, I think. I baffled. What am I missing? Has anyone experienced anything similar? Best, Marv |
