Re: Do Users Receive Feedback if a Post Is Rejected under Moderation?

If a post in the pending queue is rejected, the sender will receive an email to that effect.
Although not applicable to this case another moderation option is Delete, which to the best of my knowledge does not send a report back to the message's originator. As it is right beside the Reject tab I suppose it is always possible that a moderator might press the wrong one.

Re: Bouncing emails.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

The problem I have now is, I will have to email all the members with xtra addresses, and get them to unbounce their accounts. I cannot send through groups.io, as they will not receive them. I will need to email them direct. I think they may think that the message from groups to unbounce their accounts is spam and they have deleted it. Because of the problem with xtra, there will be several hundred addresses that have been bounced.

What link do I send to them to unbounce their account?

My question is; can I "unbounce" members accounts? Or do I have to contact each member directly with instructions?
Accounts will continue to bounce until the underlying problem is fixed. If you know how to do that, it's a good idea to contact these subscribers ahead of time, telling them what to do.?

At that point you can force groups.io to send them a new bounce probe:

  • Go to Admin>Members.
  • Pull down the blue menu at upper left and select "Bouncing."
  • Select all associated members' checkboxes, then
  • Select "Send Bounce Probe" from the Actions menu at the bottom of the page.
Again, it's up to the subscriber to fix the underlying problem, and confirm successful receipt of a groups.io email by clicking on the link in the probe. You cannot unbounce a subscriber's account for them.?

Hope this helps,
Bruce?

Yahoo groups export once again offline

This is beginning to resemble an actual effort on the part of Yahoo to keep groups from migrating.

Re: Please advise if anyone is having a problem 'rejecting messages for posting'.--ISSUE CLOSED BY ORIGINAL POSTER

Just an update¡ªI am the only moderator. Don¡¯t think I clicked wrong box, especially not twice.? If I? had not clicked the correct ¡®reject¡¯ box then I would not have gotten the message box that allows me to send the person whose message I¡¯m rejected a supplemental note.? As of right now, I¡¯m considering the issue closed as I took several ¡®screen shots¡¯ of ¡®rejected¡¯ messages over the past two days so I could send them to ¡®help line¡¯ IF problem repeated and it did not.

Thanks for responses.

Problems with Comcast Account/Replies

I am the owner of a couple of groups (on subscription plan). For the past several days, when I send an email to the group, I am not getting a copy of it back to see that it was sent.
This morning, I changed to a gmail account and I do get the replies back, which tells me that it has to be my comcast.net account.

Have you been having any problems with comcast? They recently changed their port settings and wondering if there is anything at your level that can be changed to make the replies
come through..I will try to contact Comcast and ask the question.

So appreciate any help that you can give me in being able to see the emails that I do send to the group.
Thank you very much.
Hugs
Laine

That means you're not signed in as the group owner.? Only owners (or moderators with proper permissions) can see/change the Settings.

First, check to see if you are logged in. If your email address or name appears on the blue menu bar at upper right, you are logged in. If there is a Log In button instead, you are not.

Assuming you are logged in, go to any group page and look at the Home button at upper left. Does it display a blue Owner badge? If not, then you are logged in under an email address that does not own this group. Log out and log back in using the correct address.

Once you are logged in with an account that owns the group you can find your settings under Admin>Settings.

The site login is stored as a browser cookie. Thus, logging in on your computer will not log you in with another device.?If you have your mobile device set up so it doesn't save browser cookies, you will find yourself having to log in over and over again. For information on the Safari browser, see??

As to why your phone does not recognize your password, I can only speculate. Do keep in mind that each email address is a separate account, so if the email addresses you're using on your computer vs phone aren't the same the password won't work.

I hope something in there helps.

How do I go to my setting to check "all mail reply to sender?

Re: Message formatting options not shown

Thanks Shal.

I set that a few days ago to test stripping HTML from incoming emails. The other effect of course is that it prevents outgoing HTML posts.? Lesson learned!

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Andy,

when I create or reply to a topic on my main group I no longer see the message formatting options.? On a reply, all I see is the 'quote whole post' option.

Perhaps someone checked the Plain Text Only? box int the Message Formatting section of that group's Settings page.

Re: Message marked "Objectionable" hides full thread?

In the hope that what has been discovered as a result of this thread might be of longer - term value I have put together a wiki page for Complaints About Messages. I am not entirely certain that where I have located it in the Index is optimal; it is currently under Advice to Group Members > Topics and Messages but clearly there are other places where it might be better placed.

In broad terms it is more or less finished (I think!) although there are one or two additional snippets that I might add in the next few days.

It is, of course, open to editing by other members of this Group if it is felt that changes / improvements are necessary.

Chris

Message formatting options not shown

Hi,

when I create or reply to a topic on my main group I no longer see the message formatting options.? On a reply, all I see is the 'quote whole post' option.

All my subgroups plus GMF and beta work fine, it's just the main group that has a problem.? I've logged out and back in again, closed and reopened the browser etc. but it's still the same.

Any thoughts?

Andy

Re: #membership Is it possible to get a count of the number of topics/postings by each member for a month and/or calendar year? #membership

It is possible, but not convenient. Here is one way...perhaps someone more clever than me can provide a better one.

  • Go to Admin>Members and open that user's member record. Click on the Activity History button at top.
  • On the resulting screen, pull down the Actions menu and select "Sent message." Similarly pull down the Date menu and select the desired date range.
  • Click the Search button. The page will refresh and display a list of log entries meeting your criteria. The count of entries is the number of sent messages.
  • Repeat for each subscriber in your group.
Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: Do Users Receive Feedback if a Post Is Rejected under Moderation?

Gerald Boutin

Replying to my own topic, I found out that my post actually did eventually come through. My fault for being too hasty and not heeding my own advice.

While that was happening, I did some testing on my own and confirmed that when a post is rejected on a Moderated topic, there is a reason message provided.

Regarding the second part, I will continue to monitor to determine the circumstances under which this happens and report back on a new topic if I find something. The second part being clicking?on a link to a post and watching Chrome "waiting ....". I gave up and switched to another tab and got the no longer logged in message.
