These I can help with, someone else will need to answer the other parts.

At the present time, there's not a way to only find NC, though it's been asked for on the beta group.? It's much better than it was because at least now the badge is a different color.

While signed in, go to your account using the drop down at the upper right.? It will either show your Display name or the first part of your email address.? On that list, select Account.? On the resulting page, select Preferences from the left menu.? Toward the bottom of the page where it says Items Per Page, you can select 20, 50, 100, or infinite scroll.? Be aware that infinite scroll doesn't work on certain areas of the site and will return you to 20.? In all those cases that I've found so far, 100 works.

Unfortunately, no.

I once asked for that to be added to the blue "Members" pull-down menu but the idea never got much traction.

And is there a way to increase the number of members showing at one time (when viewing the member list) from the 20 at a time now, to more, or infinite scroll preferred?
Yes.

Go to your Account Preferences page (/account?page=prefs) and change the "Items Per Page" entry. I recommend using 100...infinite scroll does not play nicely with databases.

Are attachments included on the digests? Either/or Fully featured and Plain?
Normally, yes. But if their cumulative storage needs in a given digest exceed your setting for Max Attachment Size, they are stored online and sent as links instead.

Assuming not on daily summary - ?
Correct.

The Daily Summary does not include any individual message content, just links to active Topics and a list of people who have posted to those topics.

I don't think she did.? She's not very computer savvy and doesn't even know how to get the group online.? I've been walking her through with much hand holding the whole seamless switch over.? Maybe a weird combination of keystrokes got her there, but it's a mystery.??

Re: Transfer and mystery member

It's been 5 days since we completed the steps for the transfer.? While I realize it may take a few additional days is there somewhere we can check the status??
There is info on checking the status on #8 on this FAQ -?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-Yahoo-Groups
Also - will the members listed on the Yahoo site auto receive invitations to join?? I'd heard/read yes but had not seen a place to mark it that way and want to ensure we are covered.
They will get a welcome notice. Either the plain vanilla variety or your customized one. Go to Admin, Settings the Member Notices tab.
You can set up a variety of notices.
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Quick-Start-for-Group-Formation
Lastly, someone has joined our group - 1. the group was marked as private as only club members will be allowed to join and 2. Is this something that occurs as part of the transfer?? I don't want to delete him unless know ok to do.--?

You should set up a Pending Subscription notice -?
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Screening-New-Members-Using-the-Pending-Subscription-Notice
That gives you a chance to review the subscription request.
NOTE: This option is only available to Restricted groups. See Admin>Settings>Spam Control.

Re: Moving Yahoo group can't find how to invite [email protected]

If you do not care about retaining the message archive, and are really only interested in preserving the membership list, there is a free or one-time $20 alternative.? Section 10(a) of the FAQ:
10. What are my alternatives to paying for the Premium Yearly plan? (a) Moving members yourself:
describes several options, but says there is a 1,000 member limit for exporting the membership list from Yahoo. With 6,000+ members, you are over that limit. However, if you follow the links, you will see that an owner/moderator can circumvent the 1,000 member limit by using the program PG Offline 4 to download the full membership list. With a one-month $20 membership, you could then do a Direct Add of all your members to your basic Groups.io group, and would not have to get in the endlessly growing queue of groups waiting for the Transfer Agent.? Or with a free group, you could send out 6,000+ invitations to your members to join Groups.io.? The Direct Add seems like the best choice to me if you have the skills to get the membership list into the proper file format.? Here are the relevant links:

/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-Yahoo-Groups

/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Direct-Add-From-Yahoo

/g/GroupManagersForum/message/13972

You will have to install PG Offline 4 and figure it out, but it's not hard.? There are videos to assist.? Basically you provide it your Yahoo username and password, use the List button to fetch a list of your groups, then Select the group that you own to add to the list of groups that PG Offline will manage.? Then highlight your group in the left pane, and select Get Members For Current Group from the Group menu.? Wait a bit while it does it, then select Export Members For Current Group and save it as a CSV file that you can import and manipulate in a spreadsheet program to prepare for use with Direct Add or Invite.

It's a bit of a chore if you're not comfortable with these things, but it obviates the need to be in the Transfer Agent queue.? Again, this would be useful if you do not want the message, file or photo archives transferred.? PG Offline 4 has the ability to download messages, files and photos as well, but there's no way to get the saved messages loaded into Groups.io.

Whoops! As Bruce said, the Invite notice doesn't have a checkbox for making the notice active. Some do, like Welcome, Pending Subscription, Goodbye. Just be aware that some do have a checkbox. But not the Invite notice. But you do have to click on the Update Notice to make your changes "stick".

On Wed, Oct 30, 2019 at 12:46 PM, Ann Wild wrote:
To clarify, do you mean I can just create a customized member notice instead of using the option of Invitations, and it will work?
No, it will not.?

Go to Admin>Invite. In the "Invitation to be Sent" block, you'll see that an invitation consists mostly of canned wording from groups.io ("Hello [Name], blah blah blah"). This boilerplate?cannot be changed. All you can do is insert your own custom message into the middle of it (i.e.: type something into the "Customize Message" block and you'll see). This custom message can be manually typed into the editor as needed, or you can select from any number of pre-defined templates, by pulling down the Notices menu within the same block and selecting one.

Now go to Admin>Settings and click on the "Member Notices" button at the top of the resulting page. You populate your group's pre-defined invitation templates here, by creating?a series of Member Notices of type "Invite." This is done in the same editor that you would use for a message. Give them each a different name so you know what scenario each is intended to be used for...but again, they all must be of type "Invite."

Any Member Notice of type "Invite" that you've defined will subsequently be available in the pick-list at the time you send an invitation. You do not need to make them "active"...and indeed, you'll find no such checkbox if you try.?

Those having Premium/Enterprise groups will encounter similar behavior for their Member Notices of type "Direct Add."

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: Easy Group Transfer - Problem with Moderator Assignment in Yahoo #transfer #moderation #owner #yahoo

I¡¯m doing the ¡°#10¡± option for a group as a) no one can afford the fees and b) the group owner disappeared several years ago and none of the mods has the correct privileges.?

We¡¯ve downloaded the files and finding this is a great opportunity to review and update information and links. As a scientific evidence based group review is important but often neglected. Will download archives and search them to locate and preserve ¡°important¡± discussions which we can collate into file articles.

While we¡¯re saddened to not keep all personal commentary visible we do appreciate we¡¯re able to continue the discussion format while avoiding the fluff encountered on other platforms on similar topics.?

Got added to forum by mistake?

Hi,
One of the members of a Group I own (Somerset-list) is receiving emails from the GroupManagersForum.? She has never signed up for it and is totally mystified .? Any ideas what happened?? Is this something that more members are going ask about.

Well, the plot continues to thicken.

Despite my several invitations, spread over the last 3 days, none have been acknowledged by Groups.io, nor added to members (so that I can make [email protected] a moderator) in Yahoo.

I just got this when I attempted another addition:

On the long-shot potential that YG somehow accepted but did not put on the new member on my date-oriented list, I searched:

No such luck.

As it¡¯s now well into the week (vs. perhaps a weekend having an effect) I presume that I can beat on it all I want but I will not succeed in getting [email protected] to accept my invitation.

Anyone have any idea as a way around this issue?

Skip, worried that the 14 or so years of posts on YG will disappear into the ether before getting this solved

Re: Moving Yahoo group can't find how to invite [email protected]

I found it - finally. thank you for replying.? When the transfer joins as a member, I'll put them as moderator, right?? Do you know how long that usually takes before they accept my invite?? This is the weirdest thing ever. And kind of scary putting $220.00 behind it. So stressed out. And I am the soul owner/moderator of my group. I use it as a mailing list only.? I've got over 6,000 subscribers and don't want to lose them.

Bonnie,

There is an FAQ on moving from Yahoo Groups in our GMF wiki.
Start with that.
There's info about having the Groups.io transfer agent move your group - but with a paid premium group.
Or scroll down and get some suggestions about doing it with a free group.
Also links to the official page on doing a transfer with the transfer agent and a couple of GMF member-created guides with screenshots.

To be clear though, you must be an owner or be a moderator with billing privilege and the power to promote someone in your Yahoo Group in order to use the transfer agent.
