To clarify, do you mean I can just create a customized member notice instead of using the option of Invitations, and it will work?
No, it will not.?

Go to Admin>Invite. In the "Invitation to be Sent" block, you'll see that an invitation consists mostly of canned wording from groups.io ("Hello [Name], blah blah blah"). This boilerplate?cannot be changed. All you can do is insert your own custom message into the middle of it (i.e.: type something into the "Customize Message" block and you'll see). This custom message can be manually typed into the editor as needed, or you can select from any number of pre-defined templates, by pulling down the Notices menu within the same block and selecting one.

Now go to Admin>Settings and click on the "Member Notices" button at the top of the resulting page. You populate your group's pre-defined invitation templates here, by creating?a series of Member Notices of type "Invite." This is done in the same editor that you would use for a message. Give them each a different name so you know what scenario each is intended to be used for...but again, they all must be of type "Invite."

Any Member Notice of type "Invite" that you've defined will subsequently be available in the pick-list at the time you send an invitation. You do not need to make them "active"...and indeed, you'll find no such checkbox if you try.?

Those having Premium/Enterprise groups will encounter similar behavior for their Member Notices of type "Direct Add."

Hope this helps,
Bruce
